Estate agents aren't all bad

We have just completed on our first time buy via Mishon Mackay Hove, and Sarah and Amy were great at keeping me informed and doing their best to calm my stress levels during a series of delays caused by the top of the chain, outside their control. They were always quick to reply to my requests for updates and provided much needed reassurance on a number of occasions. Should also add that before we second-viewed our house we decided "if Holly is doing the viewing again, it's a "sign" and we'll buy it". Thankfully, she was!

New beginnings in Portslade

My family and I have just completed on a house in Portslade; not a straight forward move from London with two new jobs to find and having another baby during the process. The Mishon Mackay team in Portslade led by Glenn Erdman made the whole process very easy; they were sympathetic to our situation and were very professional throughout the sale. If you’re tired of the smoke and mirrors that estate agents can dish out, I can highly recommend Mishon Mackay who were an honest and conscientious group to deal with.

Brittany Kemp did a fantastic job in selling my Hanover terrace. Buyers solicitor (Taylor-Rose) were absolutely awful, but Brittany was always there to prod them along and keep the deal in motion to hit the deadline. Great service from start to finish.

Alex a star during our flat purchase...

Mishon Mackay and specifically Alex Rathbone handled our purchase of a one-bedroom flat in Brighton. Throughout the process Alex was always in communication with me, always available and happy to visit the property on my request (several times) and dealt with the negotiation and exchange in a thoroughly professional manner. The exchange was delayed but I always felt that Alex was in my corner and pushing on my behalf. On the very rare occasion she wasn't available, her colleagues stepped in and were also excellent. It was a pleasure dealing with Mishon MacKay and Alex in particular. Dump your preconceived ideas of Estate Agents, these guys were excellent - I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Overall Excellent

Overall I thought that Mishon Mackay were very good managing agents. I was a tenant in the same flat for 7 years. Repairs were done promptly and efficiently. They were always thoughtful, available and friendly. There was one occasion on which a somewhat urgent piece of work concerning a broken toilet needed to be done. MM were not prepared to authorise it without Landlord approval, but the landlord was unable to respond as she had important personal matters to attend to. I think this policy needs reviewing to allow for common sense. With the exception of this one occasion I think the MM service was excellent.

Rude and unpleasant service

Have just had a phone call to the accounts team, needed to talk about my rent for this month and was greeted by a very rude lady. Spoke over me and didn’t let me ask the questions that I needed to ask. I was met with an awful attitude and I came out of the phone call upset and more confused about my situation than before. A very unpleasant experience, she should not be working in customer service. Extremely unprofessional.

After careful consideration of 4 estate agents we were most impressed with Damien and his team in Portslade to sell our house. He seemed personable and also most likely to be easy to work with throughout the sale to completion. Damien (And his team) did not disappoint throughout the whole process, always getting in contact and resolving many situations that flared up particularly towards the end of completion with some tricky buyers. We are very thankful to Damien and the team and would certainly recommend to others and would certainly use them again.

Fantastic services from the entire team for the sale of my flat, and special thanks to Damien and Glenn who looked after the sale all the way through.From the initial meeting for valuation, Damien has really impressed us with his attention to details, and he worked very hard to understand our requirement and situation.We originally opted to have two agents representing our sale, as we thought that this would generate more viewings and attention from the market. But Damien’s team worked so much faster and harder, and communication with his team was much more efficient and easy. By the time the other agent sent us over the draft sales particular, Damien’s team already had conducted several viewings and offer negotiation had already started. This proved to us that we only needed one good agent, and we asked them to be our sole agent.As and when we encountered obstacles, Damien’s team offered great support, as well as providing straightforward and open talk/ advice to both ourselves and the buyer, to be able to move forward with the sale.Whilst maintaining their professional and courteous attitude, they also provided very personal and tailed services. I can highly recommend Chelsea at the Preston Park office. We had a bit of a roller coaster experience of selling our flat, so I feel that I experienced the two extremes of estate agents. We were badly let down by the first company we went on the market with, but I consider ourselves so lucky to have found Chelsea. She made sure we knew what was happening at all stages, and her calm and professionalism were really reassuring at the most stressful of times. I cannot speak highly enough of these guys. Colin is an absolute star from the Hurst Office. We bought our next property through Mishon but he also worked exhaustively to move on the sale of our previous property to close the deal with our agent(who was not Mishon). We brought our last house through Mishon 19 years ago and brought our next house through them too. I do not say lightly that this company is the one to use. Polite, professional, friendly and go way over and above. Dan (you are not forgotten) who also stepped up to advise and assist in getting this deal closed. We've recently been fortunate enough to have Mishon Mackay helping with the sale of our house in Rottingdean, and our ongoing search for a new property. In particular the support of Jacob Twiselton has stood out as one of our very best experiences dealing with an estate agent. There was a long chain to be managed before our sale could go through, and several unexpected issues which came up, and Jacob went above and beyond to ensure all was resolved with good time, always with the utmost friendliness and courtesy. He was communicative, professional, incredibly helpful and I feel safe in saying that, were it not for everything he did, exchange would at the very least have been badly delayed, or - much worse - not happened at all. 1st time buyer and overall I’ve had a really good experience from the team at MM.Thom worked tirelessly on one property I attempted to buy, and now Alex has been equally efficient, in obtaining the one I’ve since gone on to purchase.And I’m throughly greatful, during which has been a daunting process.I wanted to give 5 stars, but unfortunately having spent a considerable amount of time trying to buy one property, the downfall was an issue over commercial attachment.Unbeknownst to me, this makes it near impossible to get a mortgage. Had I been aware of this issue, I really wouldn’t have invested the energy and money it has cost. Being naive to property purchasing, I would have assumed estate agents have a responsibility to inform potential buyers. Maybe I’m expecting too much.Still.. it has all worked out and I’m thankful.
