Incompetence personified! No understanding of contracts or how they work, the MD is never available (or so they tell you, but my wife sat in their offices today and observed the ladies on the phone telling someone he is not in the office while he walked past), told my wife to climb 4 meters up to change an external lightbulb that was too high for the electrician to reach, argued with me that wet and damp are two different issues, have sent me three differing calculations for my final rent payment

If you are a student and no power to defend your self, my advice is to avoid whitegates. We had lot of bad experiences with them and had to end up in a very bad financial situation because of them. There are many other letting agencies with nice people. This happened one and half years ago and now we are back on our feet. I am leaving this review as a duty for the society.

06/01/24 Landlord - Tenant finding service used again. Once again excellent service would recommend. Landlord - Used Whitegates tenant finding service. Excellent communication, marketing of the property and completing all viewings. Even though the property was landlord managed Whitegates were excellent in offering their assistance when problems arose. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Fab, friendly service; let you enjoy the property in peace. I came to Whitegates on recommendation from a tenant of their Brighouse branch, after I'd had a terrible experience with a different letting agent (that resulted in a successful property ombudsman case). I let with Whitegates for 4 years and found them to be really flexible and accommodating of my needs/ requests. I was even allowed pets! :) Very friendly and helpful staff too so the odd minor hiccups were easily and quickly resolved. Would happily recommend and definitely my first port of call should I find myself in a position to rent again :)

Didn't show up for the viewing, took me 40 minutes to get there and I called prior to make sure the viewing was going ahead, I rang after waiting 10 minutes and was reassured someone would turn up, I left after waiting for 25 minutes. The neighbours said that they did a shoddy job of managing the place, wouldn't recommend.

Absolutely disgusting and rubbish

Yet again useless made my partner wait in near enough all day on Saturday had a appointment viewing at 12 to get a new landlord because we still ain’t got one 🙄they never turned up waste of time in my opinion crap communication through email saying oh no his daughter should be outside told my partner to go out and look for them and wow to his suprise no body been emailing them for ages about repairs and what a bloody suprise no warning of them that the man was coming today and I just got out the bath so quickly had to get changed and go down to him because he rang me and what a suprise didn’t do anything other than took photos of what needs to be fixed honestly it’s a joke what me and my partner are paying for this one bed apartment when everything is falling to bits when our tenancyends hopefully we can afford to move somewhere better because £575 is disgusting what we pay and bare in mind we both work but by time we get paid we’re left with barley anything apart from food shop money and that’s it but my warning to people DO NOT RENT WITH THESE !!! And all theywas saying sat when I rang is I’m sorry we’re sorry like oh shut up your always wanting to do viewings and can’t even get a landlord for the place so what does that tellyous bout ur lettings

Bad experience with Whitegates Huddersfield. Rented a house for 11 months.. return of the Deposit. First they said that there are items in the shed, but these were here before I moved in ( luckily I had prove) I had the house cleaned (end of tenancy ) before I moved out, but they still had things to add on their final report. (Grass to long and to wet) , dust on sideskirts, oven greasy, items behind radiator, bathroom needs professional cleaning etc. I really think the final inspector of whitegates did something or used some old photos because the property was cleaned and they didn't let me see what they had noticed and this makes me suspicous. Even the landlord said that the property was in a bad condition but I had it in a better condition than the property was when we moved in. Ok. But what happend next just makes me mad. Me my spouse and 2 little childeren came home and noticed that there was no power, strange as it was there were lights but nothing in the sockets, so the fridge/freezer was off. I had checked the electric meter and called scottishpower but they had no problems in the area. So I called the landlord and explained. Well after a photo exchange he found out that a switch was disabled and after enable it everything worked but after a while the power went out again. We found out that there was a water leaking through the ceiling and the landlord didn't want to sent someone out because of the sunday rate and someone would come monday. I have 2 kids and there was water dripping through the smokealarm and the best thing ( safest) things was to disable it and disconnect it. Now whitegates and the landlord want to charge me money for this. 288 pounds!! I saved them fire hazards. I even had viewings done for whitegates so the property would let soon after we left( sometimes 4 viewings a day) Total of 13 viewings in 5 days sometime the agent of whitegates didn't even come and I had to show the future tenants around. Wel whitegates all smiley faces and kind behaviour untill they have to return the deposit money. Never in my life whitegates again. I had rented through agency before and never had deal with things like this. Greedy people who wants to eat some of the deposit money.

Wouldn't use Whitegates to sell your house . Had a guy come to value my house last week . He was very rude and abrupt. Never introduced himself . When showed him round he was very quick and uninterested. He valued it very low. Advised that I get some valuations when I said I had and that they had valued it a lot higher he just said go with them then and got up and walked out. Very poor service but been told since that they are only interested in Rentals. Well they should have said that when the valuation was booked so as I wouldn't have waited my time .
