Avoid, It's a digital desert island.

I've been living at one of their sites for nearly six years. Lovely neighbours. Quiet. Relaxing. That's the good points. Now the bad points. Only one. Lack of decent broadband. Since living here I've been pulling my hair out as I've had to put all my hobbies on hold because I can't get access to decent broadband.Despite the fact that there has been a fibre connection available about one metre away from the building which I have been denied access to, for over 3 years, by Anchor. They've given me a lot of excuses, most of which aren't true.I've had to get the Ombudsman involved and am awaiting the outcome. If I can't get access to fibre broadband I'm leaving. I want my life back, and my hobbies.Apologies for being negative but this issue alone has broken me.Avoid Anchor unless you want to live on a desert island.

Anchor; slum landlord or gangster landlord or both..

I read with interest the first tier tribunal judgement of Anchor "overcharging" a tenant for lifts and service charges. For four years Anchor charged us for a lift, you might think that strange when I tell you we lived in a bungalow. When we queried this with Anchor we were told we could use the lift in a nearby block of flats. In four years we never did, so we just subsidised the tenants of the block, oh and the drug dealer who supplied the block. When tenants queried why the drug dealer had free use of the lift, but they had to pay for a lift they didn't use, the dealers clients were quickly moved to another scheme.Anchor prides itself on the speed and quality of it's repair service, which the tenants pay for through their rent and advertise that they carry out repairs in five to ten days. Now the truth. Whist tenants of Anchor, for four years we complained about the ingress of rainwater from the front door and the mould in nearby rooms. When it was finally fixed, after three years, the problem was a previous Anchor workman sic had fitted the letterbox upside down, so that every time it rained water just poured in. We had to replace the hall carpet twice in that time.During this time the cover on the sewer in our garden became dislodged and the smell was so bad that people crossed the street to avoid the smell when passing our house. Three people came to inspect the problem, all said it needed an urgent repair, and did nothing. After 8 months when someone finally came to fix it, it took the workman about an hour. The judges ruling only effects just one tenant. I think Anchor systematically "overcharge" their tenants knowing they are doing so. I was informed by my former Anchor operations manager "that 92% Anchors tenants are in receipt of Housing Benefits, so they are not only ripping off their tenants, but the British public as well.Is it time the government, the serious fraud squad and the Charities Commission had a close look at this organisation? If in the future someone like Trust Pilot runs a competition for slum landlord of the year, Anchor will get my vote.

My dad was in an anchor care home but was admitted to hospital. When he was ready for discharge said anchor care home phoned me to say he couldn't go back there, despite him being back to his normal. Minimal explanation given. Residents are cherry picked to reduce work load. If they sit quietly, and demand very little they are welcomed. I would never ever trust an anchor care home again!

In 2018 I moved to Bately Not a place to be during covid !

In 2018 I moved to Bately court Norwich to be as near as possible to the emergency service due to my serious heart condition a decision 8 months that saved my life when paramedics worked tirelessly for a quarter of an hour to bring me back to life! Leading up to this event the following 12 months was the happiest i had ever felt as i felt Bately saved my life. On the day of the first lockdown like in all of the care sector it was actrue test of finding what additional safeguards would be put in place who many like me were in the top high risk category. 99.9% of sheltered homes rose to the challenge with Government giving advice to keep us safe. Those 99.9% mentioned doubled cleaning schedules covering replacing 5 day cleaning to 7 taking in account 100s of visits carers make weekly through the homes. Anchor sadly was in the 001 category when only last year the CEO admitted a stay away approach to protect staff mostly managers in the case of Bately as our cleaner needed to self isolate and our manager they replaced the 30 hrs of pre covid clean covering it with 12. Managers who were self isolating at home fiercely defended that decision plus seeing no reason why a weekend cleans were necessary even when I reminded them carers are needed over weekends being told Anchor would not pay the additional cost even though money from government was available. Now that the place was so toxic the management decided to stop fire alarm testing to avoid staff contracting covid overlooking the fact it was adding another life threatening risk to us all. In short I got a cleaning company in when they told me knowone would take it on at the same time made our fire service aware re stopping Fire alarm testing. Head office were reminded they were legally bound to do so. They started alarm testing immediately and gave an undertaking that this to be continued throughout the UK ' they agreed to this. I have since approached management confirming they did return this essential testing everywhere as I have learnt from frightened residents this definetly was not the case this imformation even after several attempts has been met by silence ..!!When I asked if they would adopt the same stay away approach were covid to return the manager replied " we are planning it wont! Now seen as a trouble maker and whisblower I still love my home.

Not all bad but..

Not all bad , but very much run for the benefit and convenience of the board at the expense of leaseholders and tenants. 50% of a typical service charge goes in management fees. Which doesn't guarantee a quick response to a repair request but does deliver a CEO salary of £500,000+. more details at w w w.the-big-stick.io Not a terrible place to live but the board only pretend to be customer focused.

If I could no stars I would

If I could no stars I would. Anchor housing have left a building of vulnerable, elderly, disabled residents housebound with no well fare checks. The lift has been broken for a week and they have been told repair can take up to six weeks. Most residents walk with sticks or walkers so cannot manage 80 stairs. This has meant hospital and doctors appointments have been missed, prescriptions not collected & cannot even go to the shop to buy food. They cannot do their washing as the laundry room is in the basement along with the bin room. The property manager advised my mum to try to leave the building and if she gets stuck call the fire brigade!!! Some residents are lucky as have friends and family that can help bring food etc but others are not so fortunate. They will be left home alone over Christmas possibly without access to food or medication. Raised a complaint and was advised take ten working days to investigate! Absolutely disgusting.

Insufficient support

My mother has been having unresolved difficulties with the boiler /thermostat in her bungalow for a few months. The heating will only come on for half an hour before cutting out again until the temperature drops sufficiently ti trigger again. She has not had a satisfactory repair and the last engineer didnt seem to know what the problem was. She is 92 and today has 2 inches of snow on the ground to add to the problem. My husband rang Anchor today about it. My mother reports that Anchor have since told her that because she has hot water it will be up to 5 days before an engineer calls. Hot water won't keep her warm. What strange logic! Come on Anchor. Care for the vulnerable?

Vermin People

Parasitic, verminous, anti-anglosaxon, anti-locals, social council estate hub of vermins at The Crown & Anchor Edmonton, 222 Forestr St.London N18 2QD. Any europeans from continental europe or even respected englishman or woman must not go there. Even the waisted local verminous woman at the till, what i belive, she told me her and what appeard her semi drunk man and her "local degraded gang" ,supports tens of thousands of killings of ukrainians. The woman and her gangmen actually supports killings of ukranians. And they must be very proud of running that shhite hole pub.

Biomass Boiler not fit for purpose

If I could give no stars at all, I would. I have been a tenant of Anchor, living in Jubilee Lodge for more than 10 years and until the last 2 years have been very happy. The local manager that has represented Anchor during most of those years has in my opinion fulfilled her duties by providing an excellent service to all tenants. Around 2 years ago Anchor decided to install a biomass boiler to provide heating and hot water to the scheme. For the last 2 years I have written, spoken to senior officials complaining about the inadequacies of the biomass system at Jubilee Lodge. In all of this time my voice has fallen on deaf ears. In all of this time we have suffered with the lack of hot water or heat from the radiators failing to reach a temperature sufficient to heat the room. My bills during last winter were excessive even though the rooms and hot water were cold. I have now discovered that the measure for raising bills is water flow. So even though we have cold water and cold radiators we see still charged silly amounts. We have been promised lots by Anchor but they have not fulfilled their promises. This could have been a five star review because at a local level we are looked after well. We feel safe. Apart from the heating system our home is excellent and we love it but this is the last straw because apart from our local manager nobody listens.
