I rented a flat in Richmond through Foxtons. While I want to acknowledge that Ciara DuPont was professional and genuinely tried to help, my overall experience with the lettings team, particularly Margot Redpath, was very disappointing.

Landlords don’t be fooled by the nice offices and friendly staff. They are ruthless. They take 13 percent + VAT for rent collection only and lock you in for 5 years. It’s not the tenants we need protecting from. It’s the ruthless agents.

Non-existent communication. Viewings done by an unprepared team: didn't know level of service charge, exposure, if the appliances were new or not, size of the flat or rooms. One claimed we had replaced the kitchen (we hadn't), another that the Hue Lights we installed were staying in the flat for the buyer (we never said that).

Terrible service. Very disappointed. I found a short let property on their portal myself, the agent (Amir Abbasian) kept suggesting either awful properties, or ones over my budget. They were very quick to call back and close the deal but once the deal was made, I never once was able to speak directly to my agent Olivia Taylor, or anyone from Foxtons again. Repeated messages and email queries went unanswered. Every two weeks a new person would be in touch and all my queries would be ignored. The property was nice and in good condition but i paid Foxtons 350 pounds for the end of tenancy clean, and was slapped with a 600 pound cleaning claim on my deposit. The property was never cleaned and my landlord claimed the charges from my deposit. at least a dozen emails later, I still don't have a protection document number for my deposit. I was told my deposit was protected. I ws told I would be provided an inventory upon moving in. I was told the place would be cleaned at the end of my tenancy, for which i paid. None of the above happened. Still waiting for part of my deposit to be returned, even though they said it was transferred three weeks ago and should take 5 to 7 days to be credited. I've settled the dispute with my landlord now, even though it is extortion, but it seems even he was being cheated by Foxtons.

We listed our house with foxtons and the service has been abysmal. There’s been next to no effort or movement with trying to sell the house, no communications with any options etc. You get an account online which shows upcoming viewings - almost all viewings ‘booked’ haven’t actually happened and they don’t contact us to confirm it either. You expect a lot from an estate agent with their level of commission - dont bother.

Long was able to: - Pick out a number of properties that perfectly matched what we were looking for in terms of size, price, and location. - Provide lots of useful information about the area. - Negotiate the price with the property owner. - Keep the entire process moving extremely quickly. Great experience overall, made even better by Long’s friendly personality!

GoogleI did not end up buying a property through him, but during my search, Gavie Raj was the stand out estate agent I dealt with. And the only one I actively sought out after initial contact. Not only was he straight with me regarding properties he showed me, Gavie was willing to share insights on neighbourhoods I hadn't considered. This was both from a point of view of the properties available, but also from what living in these areas would be like.

GoogleI met Klaudia at Foxtons in Shoreditch only a couple of weeks ago and I feel like she will become a lifelong friend. She has been incredibly professional and found two apartments for me (long and short let) that have exactly met my tastes, having taken the time up front to thoroughly understand what my needs were. She works incredibly hard and even gave up time on her day off to come and meet me with keys. Thank you so much Klaudia and Foxtons 🙏

GoogleI became an 'accidental landlord' after 2008/09 GFC, with just one property. I rented through Foxtons since, for nearly 15 years. I could not have been happier with the service received. In the first two years, I hedged with two other agents. Afterwards, I didn't bother: in those early years, other agents organised 2-3 views in the first week, while Foxtons always had a multiple of that and an offer within a 7-10 days every single time. I don't recall having empty-flat periods in all the time I've been with Foxtons. The ever-more onerous regulations and charges, and punitive taxation made the rental barely profitable so in early 2023, I decided to sell. Foxtons Shoreditch was, again, on hand: the team took barely a week to find me a buyer, for a shade below what I thought was an ambitious asking price. I don't know, and don't care whether Foxtons' fees are higher than those of other agents - with the valuation the team achieved, I'm classing the firm's commission not as a cost but an investment, with a full-calorie return. VERY special thanks to the whole team: Oliver, for discussing the valuation and guiding me through the early stages of the process; Charlotte, who I was told did the initial heavy-lifting: the viewings and price negotiation; and to Billy, for his professional advice and bottomless patience in dealing with both me and the Buyer.

GoogleI rarely write reviews but felt compelled to due to the outstanding customer service that I received from Klaudia at Foxtons in Shoreditch. Klaudia was warm and so incredibly efficient while helping me to find a new flat to rent. This was a breath of fresh air in relation to my experiences of other letting agents at other companies. This made all the difference to me because I was feeling anxious about finding somewhere after being given notice on my previous flat. A friendly and efficient service was just what i needed and Klaudia went above and beyond to make sure that I received it! Thanks Klaudia :)

GoogleI found the property I wanted with the help of Frieda, who is very patient and approachable. At the same time I had a lot of steps to coordinate as a foreigner renting a property in the UK and Frieda was very kind and patient in helping me and waiting for me to finish my personal hurdles in terms of documentation. It was my first time in the UK to visit a property in person with an agent and she was very precise in recommending properties that I liked and it was a great experience. So I would recommend here and Frieda!

GoogleWe have used Foxtons for our current property and the property we will soon be moving into, and have worked with Frieda on both occasions. She has always been so helpful and communicative, researching properties that match our criteria and bringing us to multiple places in one viewing session that she thinks we will like. Both times, we’ve gone with places we hadn’t even requested to view! Frieda has also been extremely respectful of our time when it has come to showing our current property to potential tenants. We’ve always had a great experience with Frieda and Foxtons and will continue to work with them going forward.

used to be good but ever since the intro of the renters rights acts, property management service has dropped off a cliff. This bad for landlords because they get poor management, bad for tenants because they get poor representation, and bad for the industry because estate / letting agents are no longer accountable.

TrustpilotI feel that the experience was negative
I put my flat up for sale with my Foxtons, I was going to go with another agent but they were very pushy and said how they managed to sell better than anyone so I went with them. I was under the impression my flat would go straight up but after I signed the contract it took them 2 weeks to take photos and put them up, in the meantime they put up a video of the flat from a mid-term inspection where it looked absolutely disgusting. I had never seen this video and I don't see why it would be allowed to be put up without my permission, I asked for it to be removed, they didn't and it took them nearly the 2 weeks to remove it. The photos they took were adequate but not particularly great, I was pretty disappointed. I felt that the price was extremely over inflated (like all their prices) but respected they knew better than me, but when every single person gave feedback that it was way overpriced and no one showed any interest I became quite embarrassed. I found it very hard to contact my sales agent and just gave up most times after leaving numerous messages. I heard from my agent 10 times more before I signed with them than I did during my contract. When I gave notice 28 days before the end after having no interest, I was reminded how they are the number one and warned that going to another agent would not solve the issue. Their commission is so much more than everyone else but I feel my experience with their sales agent was extremely poor and I can't believe I had no interest in my nice flat. I feel I made a mistake going with them and would caution anyone thinking of them. Also I rented my flat with them for nearly 2 decades and my last tenant emailed them notice which they said they did not receive until the next day so they extended the end date to one day beyond the end of the month, they then charged me a management fee of £9 for the one day (and she paid £1 something rent for that one day). I will never rent with them again due to the complete lack of transparency with regards to money. (As for the excuse that the housing market is quiet I put my other property up for sale at the same time and it sold within 2 weeks, but then again the photos were really good and the price was reasonable).

If you are a renter, please do not use Foxtons. They are a scammy horrible company that only serves the interests of the landlord. They rented us an overpriced disgusting dump by using old out-of-date photos in the rental ad, and locked us into an abusively restrictive contract that made it impossible to leave the horrible dump that ruined my mental health. Do yourself a favour and stay away from these money hungry scammers.

Extremely poor experience with Foxtons. We were left without proper cooking facilities for 25 days, which had a major impact on our daily life and forced us to spend extra money on food. A functioning cooker is a basic part of any home, yet this was not handled with the urgency it deserved.
