Rachel Byles of Knights in Newcastle under Lyme acted for me on a probate sale of my mother’s house. She was very efficient, professional and proactive through-out, despite the other solicitors involved being very slow and failing to communicate. I would certainly recommend her. You might pay more for the service but it is worth it. It’s unfortunate that not everyone operates in the same way which can mean that the process is still stressful.

We started the process of probate and conveyancing with Rix & Kay, which then got transferred to Knights. The people I have dealt with throughout have been professional, knowledgable and easy to communicate with. They kept me in the loop, especially when the buyers went quiet on the house sale, but it did eventually complete. We had a few issues around probate being granted (due to an error at the probate office, not with Rix & Kay), and the lack of communication over the transfer to Knights, but I would definitely recommend this team to others.

My wife’s stepmother was Knights’ client. She had a will drawn up in 2020 and stored it at the solicitor’s “strong room”. She died but Knights have lost the will. For probate we need a letter from Knights acknowledging they lost the will but they just ignore our requests. They won’t answer this because I’m not a paying customer, sadly their customer is dead but they’ve left a big mess for us! Just common decency should apply, they have created the problem, help us fix it.

Really disappointed with this company. They have recently took over another company and that company made some errors in my elderly parents conveyancing, both the sale and purchase of their new home. At the time they wanted a piece of land removed from the title deeds and seperated from the sale. Some years later when looking through my parents documents I find that it has been done incorrectly. The first person I spoke to at knights indicated that the issue was indeed incorrect and that they would possibly be able to rectify the issue if I paid the disbursements, which I was happy with that would be the right thing to do.
