As soon as I contact Rettie, they were as helpful as they could possibly be. They ensured my time during the day of the viewings was used as best as possible and found many properties that perfectly fit my requirements, allowing me to make a choice from many good options. The day of viewings with Rettie was organised after another letting agent cancelled a bunch of viewings I had flown across the UK to come do. Rettie managed to organise 5 property viewings for the afternoon after being called in the morning - they pulled in staff who don't usually do viewings any more purely to make sure my flight wasn't for nothing! In comparison, the original letting agency didn't even care.... The day and flight would have been wasted had it not been for the efforts of Iwona and her team and I can't be thankful enough!

A heads up for any STUDENTS in Edinburgh is to completely AVOID RETTIE. They falsely advertised a property, took over £2,000 with no receipt, didn't reply for weeks while the staff changed, let us sign contracts, and then a few weeks before the move in date they realised the HMO ran out months ago! Left us with no home a few weeks before term began. A classic example of a company who fails to treat students as equals, and completely neglects the paperwork and the entire process because it feels students won't notice or be able to complain. No compensation or any real apology, which is shocking considering they held our money for a long time after they realised it'd be ILLEGAL for us to live there.

Having just spent a couple of days up in Edinburgh to facilitate a move up here, I thoroughly recommend Rettie's if you're looking for a rental. The team in the office were helpful both finding places and doing the admin for applications, in person and on the phone (while many other agencies I was lucky to even get through). The viewing agent was especially helpful, not just with practical info on the properties but on the local area(s), the city as a whole, the rental and sales markets and the application process. I was particularly impressed with the virtual viewing for a property I couldn't make it to. I thought it would be just a quick video of the inside but instead it was a live tour full of incredible detail of the property, it's recent history, the facilities, the area...she picked up on so many things I wouldn't have even thought to check, and then went through a Q&A at the end. If you're sceptical like I was, don't be. Thanks very much. Now all I have left to do is keep my fingers crossed for the applications!

I found a very nice flat in Edinburgh (Stockbridge) with the help of Ros Mills at Rettie & Co. I had seen an apartment that I liked but whose availability did not match with my moving plans. Ros then very proactively contacted me to tell me about a very similar apartment further down the street which was available sooner. I moved to Edinburgh from abroad and Ros has been very helpful with getting everything organised. I can definitely recommend Rettie & Co. to anyone who is looking for an apartment in Edinburgh.

Rettie's efficiently managed the overall process of marketing our 3 b/r flat and finding tenants within a very short timescale, which only took 2 weeks. Charles was professional and courteous in the initial assessment and marketing, and managed the transition with Rettie's lettings department. Victoria and her staff were very reactive in showing the flat to a large number of interested parties, which was professionally handled. The few issues that we had during the process were promptly and efficiently managed, and there was good communication throughout the process. Hopefully the follow up service will be as good.

We were at our wits end trying to find somewhere to rent in Edinburgh after selling our house but Rettie & Co and in particular, Kirsty Campbell, stepped up to the plate. Kirsty took the time to listen to our needs and find suitable properties for us to view in what is a very difficult market at the moment. She took the time to explain the current market conditions and was happy to meet us later in the day for viewings. All of the properties Kirsty took us to see met with our needs and thankfully she offered an alternative property which she then kindly met with us quite late the next evening for a 2nd viewing and which is the one we chose and are now happily living in! It is not somewhere we would have thought of and are extremely grateful that Kirsty did. The whole process of renting a property with Rettie’s has been seamless and trouble free. Since moving in there have been a couple of maintenance issues with the flat but these have been resolved quickly and without hassle. I would highly recommend using Rettie & Co if you’re looking for rental property in Edinburgh

Very impressed with the initial communication but later on, no response on plenty of messages left. Broken messages sent across. Wouldn't recommend for a landlord as an interested tenant was left with no comms. Wouldn't recommend as a tenant as the messages are not sure to have reached the landlord. I being both a landlord and a tenant, wouldn't recommend these cow boys EDIT: Called Karen on the given number at 10:19 on the 30th June 2021, it rang out without anyone answering.

My gratitude goes to our protfolio manager Iwona, who is very nice, helpful and professional. My daughter and son-in-law currently rent a flat via Rettie as agents. The flat below them had a fire recently and caused quite a bit of smoke damage. This required them to move out of the flat for several weeks (and back in with us!) while the problems were sorted out (everything had to be cleaned; the whole flat needed re-painting; carpets had to be replaced etc). During this time Rettie went the extra mile to ensure everything was taken care of (dealing with surveyors and loss adjusters and organising trades etc). Louise at Rettie helped find me a gorgeous flat in new town in Edinburgh to rent as a temporary fix. The boiler was a bit faulty as we tried to bring it to life as the winter comes in, but within 3 hours Ray was on the scene and had it back up and running. Professional service and I will be considering working with them when it comes to moving from renting to purchasing! I am new to Edinburgh having moved from Glasgow and I am pleased that my friend Steve recommended them to me. 5/5 and I'm hard to please.

Management is good but we had a problem when we moved out the flat. One of female workers was soooo bossy! We arrange the house cleaning and went there to hand the keys back. She said," because you come here before 5 o'clock, I won't do the inventory check. I DON'T WANT TO WORK AFTER 5". I told her a new tenant are moving in tomorrow but she sad "Don't worry". Yes she has the right to go back home after 5 but she shouldn't say that as she is a professional. Beside, we were told to come before 5! We had been paying the rent properly and we are their customer!

I'm aware most people won't pay much notice to this review, but I urge people to think twice and read through the 1 star reviews as well, before choosing this agency. I moved in here with my girlfriend during Covid, so we could only do a virtual viewing. Long story short, they used this opportunity and deceived us by not letting us know that there was a full blown construction site literally on our doorstep. We moved from London to Edinburgh to get away from that kind of noise, yet this is worse than any London flat I've ever lived in. It's so loud sometimes the windows are literally rattling, and it's often impossible to focus on anything, let alone working from home. It's also £895/month for a one bed, so this is beyond unacceptable. The agency never took any responsibility for this, and didn't even apologise. I tried to ask for rent reductions but the negotiations fell through with the landlord, and I have now left a notice after just a few months. I don't enjoy pointing out certain individuals, but AS was very poor in their responsiveness and customer service, and has done little more but increase my frustration throughout my stay. All in all, I urge you to think twice about using this agency. Also funny how they don’t respond to any of the negative feedback. They couldn’t care less about their customers. EDIT: After reading other reviews it sounds like it might not be over for me yet, as they seem keen on keeping people’s deposits for no good reason. I will come back with an update on this once I know how that went. EDIT 2: Yes as expected, despite spending 10 hours cleaning the entire flat meticulously and speaking to the cleaning company used by Rettie for guidance, I was charged £84 for cleaning, with nothing in the invoice specifying what had been done. It’s clear who this company favours between tenant/landlord. Hint: it’s not the tenant. This company stinks, another corporation out there only for the money.NegativeProfessionalism
