At the moment my experience with Rettie is quite poor. After having confirmed my rental date, paid deposit, and initiated the payment of the first month rent, I was expecting to enter my new home tonight. Is 3.30PM now in Edinburgh and I still have no confirmation on whether and when I will be able to collect keys. I understand there is been some bank delay with the arrival of the first month on the bank account, but I would expect in such a situation to have very high priority for the customers, as, per now, I don't even know at all where I will sleep tonight. Moving from my current temporary accomodations to an hotel just for one night would be quite inconvenient considering I have all my belongings packed already. I really hope that this is going to change and that the team can consider the special situation and assisting to avoid unnecessary stress, friction, time, and expenses for their customer, and that I can change this review to a better one.

There is absolutely no requirement (re your response) for me to have to telephone you further to request this. Rettie's employee Kirsty is the most trustworthy, responsible, enthusiastic and kind lady I have ever met. She explained the details of the property to me in every detail during my rental and was very patient in helping me with everything I needed to see the property. My experience with the Rettie & Co. Edinburgh Lettings team was wonderful. Both my flatmate and I were treated with a lot of respect and care. At the 2 viewings that I have attended (Nicholson and Simpson Loan), the property managers have always been very helpful in giving us tips for our application. They have been so understanding and have been very patient with any and all questions that we have had. Due to the housing crisis, we have been very stressed and the people from Rettie & Co. have done a lot to help us during this process. Our viewing agent - Kirsty was extremely welcoming and was sure to answer every question or query we had. Vanessa was always quick to respond to emails and queries and the flat was occupied for July and August, which was a huge relief and exactly what we’d hoped for. AVOID AT ALL COSTS We were recent tenants with Rettie and Co. and our experience has been very poor from the start. They provided a flat which was not professionally cleaned at the start of the tenancy and claimed cleaning costs at the end. Importantly, one of the kitchen appliances (washing machine) was not PAT tested prior to move in. The resulting fault tripped the electricity in the entire flat. Agents were completely unresponsive for several days resulting in us incurring high laundry bills during Covid. I have a small rental property in the Scottish Borders and since I live in Edinburgh I use Rettie & Co. to manage it for me. They do everything, which saves me endless trouble. When I first started letting it out they assessed the flat to check that it met all the legal requirements and brought it up to code. They clean the flat between tenants, replace any broken appliances, make any necessary repairs, and interview prospective applicants - all while keeping me fully informed. There is a very reasonable percentage fee and anything that needs to be done is charged only at cost. I get regular statements and all invoices when work is required.
