TrustpilotDon't put yourself through it, really, dont!
Just moved out of a property I rented from places for people. At first I enjoyed living there a spent some money doing up my first ever home on my own. The my floor boards collapsed in bedroom, I was walking round 2 massive holes for 2 months. Then winter set in, I had a massive damp and mould problem that unfortunately for me with asthma wasnt a good place to be. They didn't seem that bothered, couldn't get anyone out before Christmas ( reported the problem in November) and I decided enough was enough, it wasnt suitable for me or my five year old when he came to stay. I would avoid these lot at all cost seriously because even when I asked to moved and willing to stay in another pfp property they still weren't intrested.

TrustpilotNo hot water for 3 months
Hi, I have been without hot water for 3 months which was finally fixed last night after phone call upon phone call. The customer service is absolutely horrendous, no-one ever gets back to you even though the call centre has said they have emailed the person you need to talk to.I have had umpteen people out to look at boiler but no-one new what was wrong with it until last night. I've had no apology from anyone in the company even after leaving me all over Christmas and New year without hot water, which is illegal for a landlord to do this.Even now I am still waiting for a call from them for about the sixth time of phoning them . The problem is you can not get to talk to anyone face to face as you can not get passed the call centre and you have to believe that they have emailed the person you want to talk to. They say that someone has to respond within two days but I'm still waiting. A awful awful customer service. John Newcastle

TrustpilotMouldy bedrooms are great.
So I've been in the property 5 years in March, and I have had the pleasure of sleeping in a mould riddled bedroom that has made me asthmatic, pip have been out several times and have always come up with excuses (furniture too close to the wall, too much furniture in the bedroom, not enough ventilation in the room) I have done all of the things they told me to do, but yet still getting mould. They haven't even checked the structure of the property to see if it's something to do with the building itself. They spray something, give me a leaflet then leave after 4 minutes. The fact I'm having to sleep in my living room so I don't have 3-4 asthma attacks per night is a joke. They are coming back to my flat in January to do another mould inspection and if nothing is done I will seek legal advice and action.

TrustpilotThe Tolworth Branch - Obnoxious manager that doesn't understand customer care
The Tolworth Branch: Attended a kids party and bought a coffee. Unfortunately the coffee was very cold and I asked the reception desk to please change it or warm it up. Manager came up and refused saying that I could have had the coffee for over 10 minutes or more and refused to do anything about it. Naturally I got upset about this as I had paid for a coffee that was cold! I have contacted the Regional manager who will hopefully sort the manager out. Incident occurred on Sunday 08/12/2019, manager was a male.

People who went through the sign up with me were nice but found alot of things in the new apartment that were not to the standard one would expect ie leaking windows, radiators not working properly decor not finished off properly and you can hear neighboring residents above quite badly. Was told can have gas appliances and bought a gas cooker, I even checked this was OK and OK to get someone to install it which they said yes that's fine but on the day I moved in was told no gas appliances are allowed so now I have no cooker. On a plus note the apartment is a decent size and bigger than I expected and there is secure private parking which is so nice!

TrustpilotPrisons for people
I was going to give no stars but it wouldn't let me I have lived in a property owned by places for People for just over a year in that year we have had no proper heating or hot water we've had raw sewage pumping out of a toilet and a very vile stench that has made all our clothes smell for 3 days even with the constant complaining nothing has been done £180 phone bill just calls made to them the constant smell of weed from the other residents in the house but yeah we get sanctioned for leaving stuff in our own hallway one has to wonder if we would be better off sleeping on the streets living here where is like living back in the Stone ages hand on my heart 100-percent has to be the worst landlord I have ever experienced and I have experienced some scummy landlords in my time the fact they charge you to live in these properties is a joke it should be called prison for people as even prisoners get treated better than a places for people's tenant if you care and love your family stay away from places for People for 5 days now now we have to live in human faeces as places for people cannot get the drains fixed stay away from places for People

TrustpilotInadequate property
The viewing was conducted very unprofessionally. It was rushed and we were not given ample time to look round the property. As there was no electricity in the property we were doing the viewing in fading daylight and some areas were too dark to properly examine. As we were getting the flat through the council we had to accept it. After further inspections with adequate lighting we feel certain aspects of the flat are unacceptable and improvements should have been made before the flat was offered to us.

TrustpilotWorld Champions of Incompetence
Absolute bunch of buffoons with no competencies whatsoever. Customer service advisors bark down the phone like rabid dogs and chat out of their rear ends when it comes to getting things done.I have the misfortune of having to ring Places for People every time I need a meter reading as it is held in a communal cupboard. Rang twice, now into third week and still no meter readings.Won't provide a key and can't be bothered to get readings themselves so what is a tenant meant to do?... and if you're looking to report a repair, remember to plan several years in advance, to give them plenty of time to pull fingers out.The company's biggest achievement is operating for so long whilst being blatantly negligent and borderline criminal.

TrustpilotJoke of a company.
This has to be the worst housing company I have ever come across.Been with them for 10 years and they seem to think it's ok to leave a family without heating and hot water as boiler has broke down and they say they can not get it fixed for just over a week. They seem to forget there are laws around having no hot water and heating that they seem to forget. There customer service is nil and they take for ever to answer phones. They are a joke of a company keep away unless you don't mind sitting at home in the cold.

Easy to apply for a home when we enquired 2015. Had a decision and keys within a week.Really lucky to have two bedrooms in an age restricted flat and at a very reasonable rent.Majority of the staff are effective and helpful...we did have one issue but head office tookus seriously and the problem was resolved. The repair teams are all very polite and helpfuland usually go the extra mile. In this day and age with loads of negative press regardinghousing associations and dodgy landlords we feel pretty blessed to have a home withPlaces for People. I guess they could change their point of contact system...sonrtimestakes a bit of effort to track down a human being to discuss any problems.

TrustpilotTerrible booking system
I assume that this is to do with the repairs to our central heating boiler. Generally, the engineers were great but the booking was a total disaster, with engineers not coming when we were told they would, and coming when they were not supposed to, with us being out! Complete mess and hardly instils confidence in the system. Time to sort it!!!

TrustpilotGarden fence down for 6 months
I live next door to a home owned by places for people. The garden fence fell down 6months ago and still no one has been to erect new fencing. I have tried speaking to someone at there Bristol office but I am told that they won’t discuss the problem with me. So my garden was very secure but now is at risk of anyone walking in to my property. My neighbors of the pfp house have made complaints but it has fallen on deaf ears. It was so easy to use the website to apply for a property. Janet who met me at a convenient time for us both was amazing. She went to the new property twice with me before I made my decision. She was very patient & had lots of time to chat & gave lots if reassurance. I am now the proud Tennant of an appartment overlooking a beautiful canal by a lock. Ducks & geese barges to be seen. I have already met my new neighbour who seems really friendly. Couldn't be happier. Now for the move! A great big thankyou to janet Kay for all your help. Marie xx

TrustpilotPfP even show contempt for RSPCA volunteers!
In my previous post I told how I faced four long years of shameless ignorance, duplicity and bullying at the grubby hands of PfP managers in Preston for submitting 'excessive correspondence' complaining about the state of the communal area, the petulant attitude of a manager and the antisocial behaviour of a neighbour. For these shocking 'crimes' my contact with PfP was "restricted" to one person only for a full twelve months.Weeks later I asked two long-time RSPCA volunteers who know me well if they would write a character reference for my upcoming Appeal. They were more than happy to do so and I was genuinely touched by what they had to say about me. None of this made any impression on the arrogant manager who 'reviewed' my appeal. Instead he arrogantly dismissed my pleas while ignoring virtually all the points I made justifying my stance. When my RSPCA friends received no acknowledgement to their character reference letters I began asking why, only to be repeatedly ignored. Then around six weeks later one manager told me they "would not be responding to those ladies" since PFP didn't ask them to write! This is the logic of philistines! Now these two RSPCA women had given many years of their years to helping animals in need of a second chance. Incensed by the way they were being treated I contacted my local Councillor who wrote to PfP asking why they were treating two local RSPCA volunteers so badly. Within days both women received a snotty two-line acknowledgement, but this was more than SEVEN WEEKS after they had first written their character reference letters. While most people regard the RSPCA as an organisation worthy of respect, arrogant PfP managers in Preston do not and believe they have every right to treat such people like dirt. This absolutely TRUE STRUE STORY speaks volumes about the levels of ignorance, arrogance and duplicity among philistine managers at PfP in Preston. So what sort of management treats people like this? A management this is wholly unworthy of the name.In the end I was forced to endure a four-year long ordeal at the hands of Places for People managers in Preston, during which two offers of "mediation" were made only to be later withdrawn and blocked to prevent me airing in a formal setting the criticisms I had highlighted of corrupt behaviour by their own colleagues.Again, what sort of management behaves like this? One that is totally unworthy of the name. After the way I was treated I firmly believe PfP management in Preston need to be thoroughly investigated with the rotten elements, of which there are a number, rooted out and summarily sacked.Alan Scott - a 76-year-old working class man now trying to pick up the pieces of my retirement, four years of which were callously trashed by arrogant PfP managers in Preston.Alan O'Day Scott

TrustpilotSteer Clear - they don’t care!
I can’t even begin to explain what a shambles this company is. Don’t bother keeping your house in good order if you are wanting anything new as they only cater to tenants who trash the properties. Don’t bother booking repairs because they’ll cancel without notice or turn up at the wrong time every time you try and get somebody out. Don’t bother complaining unless you have the will to take it to the ombudsman because their attempts at a response or remuneration are pitiful. We’re in the process of liaising with our local MP about them because after more than two decades of living in this house, we’ve had enough. I would desperately urge people to steer clear of this company where you can so you don’t end up in this situation!!
