Contacted Places for People today on behalf of an elderly tenant who has a broken toilet seat was told the elderly tenant would have to replace the toilet seat and fit it to the toilet at their own cost the tenant has Parkinsons so cannot do this themself i was told i would have to go out and buy a toilet seat and fit it for them what a joke It apears to me that Places for People have no regard for their elderly tenants or their safety within their accomadation what so ever i for one would not concider renting a property from this company as it apears safety of residents and maintaning their rental property is not a priority

AVOID AT ALL COST

Do not rent through these guys!!! Even tho it seems like a good deal it really ain’t! I applied for a property in a new area where it wasn’t the nicest buy it’s okay! When was called and advise to come have a look at the property it was in a very bad state I didn’t expect it to be that bad. When asked the manager if there is anything else available I was advised I can only have this studio flat and nothing else and if I don’t take it I can not get another property for another 12 months! Took the property which was delayed by 4 months due to plumbing issues, when moved in boiler didn’t work so no hot water. Called and been advised I have to take a day off work as they can’t book anyone in for the times I’m free I have to make the time for them, absolute joke! Reported my lights not to have a cover which is dangerous as exposed been advised to wait three months for the fix, my window is broken and don’t shut properly been advised 3 months again and being winter time also have 0 heating been advise to wait again when asked to speak to a manager been advised someone will call me back and till today still haven’t heard from them! Now the also found out that place for people are working with the local prison to house pedos and rapists! Being a young woman on my own I definitely don’t want to be here! Pay that little extra and get your self a nice place rather than going through them! Absolute scum of a company

distressing

so I’m walking home at 00:49, I get to my door and I notice I don’t have my keys, I check every pocket frantically, nothing, so I call places for people and speak to a customer service agent called leon, I told him I’m locked out, it’s pelting it down and it’s freezing and how I need an emergency locksmith to come out and help me, I was recommended by other neighbours who are also placed for people tenants on this street to give them a call as they’ve helped them get in their properties with locksmiths before, i explained to Leon how I’m a vulnerable person with mental health issues and how being stuck outside at this time of night is causing me distress, he then asked me “do I not have any friends or family close by who can help me” I said no I do not, he then put me on hold for 1 minute and then came back and said it’s my responsibility to get in the property, I then said to him other tenants have told me places for people can actually help with an emergency joiner he then proceeded to lie and say they are unable to do that (even though I was sat with a neighbour who they previously helped a week prior with the same problem) I couldn’t exactly stay on my neighbours sofa as we are not that close and I was lucky enough they was awake to let me use their phone. This situation was caused me so much distress I will be taking this matter as far as I can. I want to make it clear I called the Preston branch of places for people, their number is 01772 667002 and the very unhelpful agent name was Leon and the call was made on 2nd jan 2022 at 00:49 .. I am actually in shock I was treated in such a way when I was stressing to them I have mental health issues and when I find a more suitable property I will be moving out from these unprofessional, soulless, not to mention heartless housing association with great happiness

Absolutely shocking service waited ages…

Absolutely shocking service waited ages for the property to be ready, paid rent in advance had nothing but problems regarding the property and got spoken to like absolute rubbish on the telephone when tried calling them now I have put my end or tenancy in I am getting nothing but trouble from them still I was due to hand my keys in Boxing Day but unfortunately ending up catching covid so I rang them explaining this and they said Are you not able to do it yourself with moving etc knowing full well I have covid and pregnant so I was unable to do it then I received multiple emails and messages saying your keys are now over due failure to ring the office by 4pm we will change the locks and charge you for this and dispose of any belongings and I will be responsible for the rent when they know full well what my situations was so I tried ringing but couldn’t get through was told office opens on 4th January so it left me stressed and affected my mental health with worrying about it constantly and the flat had a gas leak aswell which I had to intially have the gas capped!! I am really not happy with the services I have received and would never use this company again plus no tenancy has being received only via email !!AVOID!!

They are a horrendously awful company

They are a horrendously awful company. I started out having a leak in my bedroom ceiling 2 weeks ago and they turned around and said they can only come and fix it 26th of January ( nearly 2 months later ) because they thought by just leaving a bucket on the floor would be fine even though I still couldn't sleep at night because I kept hearing drips on the floor. Well how wrong were they! 5 days later after they turned up the whole ceiling fell, luckily no one got hurt! After them finding out the whole ceiling fell, fair enough to them they came straight away to fix the leak but they now left a huge hole in the ceiling with half of the insulation dangling down and they still won't come and fix it sooner! So now the room is uninhabitable because the hanging insulation is a major health and safety concern and also the room is now freezing because of the lack of insulation in the middle of winter

I’m writing this review as I wait for my call to the emergency repair telephone line to be answered. The timer has just passed the 60!minute mark. I’d opt for the call back feature, but last time nobody called back. That’s not a very good “emergency” response. The whole building of 14 flats has lost its water supply for the second time in a week. No communication and no interest from PFP.

Ft9 Carolyn House has the kitchen has…

Ft9 Carolyn House has the kitchen has only 2 hanging cupboards which is alright if you have only 1 plate, cup and dish etc. Had I known how small the lounge and kitchen would be, I would have not bid on it.I am really worried about the email i received.Under the terms of our Lettings Policy we can bypass any future direct applications from yourself if you refuse 3 offers of properties in a 12 month period. In addition if you fail to attend the viewing appointment when arranged, Places for People will be unable to consider applications for housing from you for 12 months. If you have been nominated by your Local Authority, any refusals or failure to attend viewing appointments may affect your banding with them. I am frightened to blind bid on a property now in case it is not right for me. I do not know what to do and this is impacting on my mental health. HOW CANYOU BID ON A UNSEEN FLAT??????????????

I recently moved into my property only…

I recently moved into my property only to realise that the heating and the shower doesn't work. I felt pressured into the tenancy starting on the day that I went to view it which was on the 12thNovember . The gas was uncapped on the 22nd November and the operative made me aware that the heating would come on when The hot water was switched on but to my surprise when I switched it on when I moved in It really never got hot and switches on intermittently so the bungalow never gets warm. I moved in the rest of my belongings on 27th November only to find myself freezing in the property and no where to have a shower. I contacted the emergency department whom told me that someone would be out to me within 24hrs, it is now after 9pm and no one has shown up. I did call the emergency line back at about 30 minutes before the deadline of 24 hours and all they could say is that they left a voicemail for the trades person and that there is nothing else they could do. The reason why I accepted this property is because I'm disabled and the wet room was similar to what I had and I was on the ground floor. No stairs and no lift that breaks down leaving me housebound. I also made the lettings manager know that the shower had been dripping water constantly before I moved in. The shower floor is always wet and I am yet to get a date for this to be fixed. I have a water meter which means that this is costing me money yet I have never used the shower. I don't understand why they rushed the signing of the tenancy and not making sure that the property is in a liveable condition. I am so upset it is beyond words. I really don't think this housing association are capable of dealing with the maintenance of their properties in a timely manner. I shouldn't have had to move into a property when it obviously isn't ready and having to pay rent for it.

Just reviewed most of the negative…

Just reviewed most of the negative comments and they mirror my exact experience having been in shared ownership for 3yrs. Complaints fall on deaf ears you're villainised as a resident if you have an opinion, the communal areas make it feel like a prison, not a home, on the grounds of fire safety for a ground floor flat, it's a complete joke, recently flooding damage hasn't been repaired and now the contact mold growth due to the flooding isn't getting treated. No point reporting any of it as they won't do anything about it

PFP leave old properties behind.

PFP concentrate on building modern new properties in deprived areas, forgetting about the older properties like the one I live in. We get no benefit from the annual rent increase, we get no improvements to our properties. Not recommended for older properties.

I hope this review scares you....

.........from ever renting or buying a property with Places for People. They are such a terrible landlord is truly frightening. Their properties are cold and draughty like a haunted house complete with genuine creaking floorboards, my hot and cold water supply cuts out daily without warning and the building is full of ghastly tales, like the woman who didn't have hot water for over 18 months. It's also full of invisible men: like cleaners that don't clean hallways (paid through service charges) repair staff that don't materialise for booked appointments and staff that illegally enter your property when you're out to let in surveyors without your prior knowledge or giving 24 hours notice.A nearby over 55's property had bad flooding and damaged ceilings for many months which they refused to fix, which was in the local paper. A disabled man was stuck in his flat for days when the lifts stopped working several years ago. They are full of tricks and illusions, like their very slick PR campaigns pretending to care for very vulnerable people, whilst treating the vulnerable people in their own supported housing schemes with minimal respect. Staff are poorly trained, make insensitive and discriminatory comments to their customers and will actively attempt to make life extremely difficult for you if you make any reasonable complaint (and trust me, there will be plenty to complain about once you move in).If you make a formal complaint you will then likely experience landlord harassment and blacklisting in an attempt to scare you out of your home or from escalating your complaint to the Housing Ombudsman. I was quite naive when I moved in and have never known corruption quite like it. From Places for People employees at the bottom to the senior management, its smoke and mirrors, manipulation of the facts and constant lying. All these courteous Trustpilot customer service responses you see here will disappear like magic *poof* once you sign your contract and emails will mysteriously go missing on their internal systems, especially if required as evidence. They villanise their tenants/customers and will attempt to discredit them by playing upon stereotypes of people in social housing regardless of if you are a decent person, hard-working, nice, intelligent and well educated, with no history of ASB or rent arrears. They continue to do this to me personally! To see an example of this discrediting read a review several pages back by a Places for People debt recovery firm trying to downplay negative reviews. Ironically, they completely ignore all genuine cases of anti-social behaviour from aggressive neighbours so expect any problems to fester extensively.I filmed contractors rifling through my personal belongings and Places for People are refusing to repair damage caused to my property over eighteen months ago from these contractors (and flooding in my bathroom) on the basis that I have a home security camera and they don't want to be filmed (doing anything that's naughty!)I hate to sound very over-zealous, butthey are frankly as rotten as my floor skirting boards (that Places for People claim they are not responsible for repairing according to their senior management, but not the Places for People website). If you don't want a rental nightmare then avoid Places for People like the plague! You have been fore-warned...P.s. Customer Service Agents, if you read this please don't reply with an insincere message in public. Please reply instead to my emails you refuse to acknowledge regarding recent anti-social behaviour. Thanks!
