A disaster of an Estate Agent

I recently bought a property through the Surrey Quays branch and (apart from Sara) these are the biggest bunch of cowboys ever. I was utterly appalled by their incompetence and rudeness. I would now actively avoid buying a property through them. I have deliberately hidden my name as I don't want any repercussions from this review. And I know they will say as I haven't given them details they can't 'correct' their mistake. But I don't want a token gesture for me, they need to drastically improve as an Estate Agent overall. From start to finish they were an absolute nightmare. And by all accounts they're not much better for renting either. The property I bought was previously rented and by talking with the old tenants they told me Alex Neil hadn't fixed problems they had been asking to be fixed for the last 2 years! Avoid, avoid, avoid.

DO NOT RENT OR BUY PROPERTY FROM ALEX NEIL

I rented a property from Alex Neil and the agency managed it for about 8 years. I would say it's by far one of the worst managed companies and it has no proper customer service. Once you are in its system its staff members won't care about you. Its employees are incompetent and extremely rude.Once a staff member hung up on me because she was super impatient and didn't want to listen to my simple questions and issues I had in the property. I would never use AN to rent/buy or manage my property. You would simply regret! Even my former landlord who contracted AN to manage some of his properties mentioned that its employees were incompetent. I think the issue is that AN doesn't offer proper training to its employees. In addition, its branches are located in the areas where property demand is very high. You're worth nothing as a client. If you rent from AN, and if any issue(s) occurs it would take weeks or even months to get it sorted. I didn't find its staff members who I met during my tenancy helpful or honest. The reason why I stayed in the property was that I loved the location and the property itself. Otherwise I wouldn't have stayed with AN as a client for a second.

Do NOT go to Alex Neil

Do NOT go to Alex Neil. I initially had a rocky start with not getting the information required though a change in property manager internally helped. Unfortunately she and the woman who found my home were the only highlights of working with Alex Neil. When I went to move out, the landlord tried repeatedly to screw me out of all my deposit due to the previous tenants using it as an airbnb and ruining quite a few things. Though it was documented, the landlord still refused to give me what I was due from my deposit. I eventually gave in and allowed 3/4 more of what was deemed fair in order to get my money, 2 months later. No one fought on my side, no one cared that it was obvious the landlord was screwing me due to the previous tenants. They do not care about the tenants, only the owners. I have NEVER in my life renting had to pay so much. I feel cheated by Alex Neil.

We have used this estate agent numerous times and have always found them to be extremely unorganised. My most recent experience being, they forgot to let me know that my Viewing had been cancelled and I turned up with a baby and toddler in tow, having put other plans on hold during the day to attend the viewing, then waited and waited in the cold. Finally I called Alex Neil Estate Agent and was told they forgot to inform me that the landlord had cancelled previously. I didn’t even get an apology. Rude and unprofessional are the only words I can use!

They need serious training in customer service. I list my requirements to them yet I keep getting spammed by emails and text messages, by multiple members of staff, with properties out of my range and in areas I would not like to live in. I also stressed to them my preferred method of contact through email but no one writes back to me and they continue to call during work hours. Unless they improve, I will not continue with them. EDIT: One of their reps reached out to me to try and remedy the situation after spotting my negative review. I will give them another chance and improve my rating. However, if the same issues are experienced again then my score will decrease.

A 'VERY' happy Landlord.

I recently put my Property on the market with Alex Neil estate agents. This was my first time instructing an estate agents so I was extremely hesitant to begin with and did not know what to expect. I can honestly say Alex Neil have a fantastic team and made my first renting experience a pleasure. From the valuation stage, to viewings all the way to finding me a tenants. Step by step was an easy, professional and comfortable experience. I am now primarily dealing with Alex Neil's property management and administration department. Again, a very nice, professional group that take all the stress out of my hands. If you are someone who is looking to rent or sell your property. I'd highly recommend using Alex Neil. Great Job. Warning to fellow landlords

Warning to fellow landlords, Beware of this very greedy estate agents. I instructed them to find tenants for my property. They send you pages and pages of small print terms and conditions which you have to agree to to complete the paperwork. What you are agreeing to is that if your tenants decide to stay on, then AlexNeil will ask you for their commission for the new period otherwise they will descend on you like a ton of bricks and threaten you with legal action if you do not pay. Other decent estate agents in the area will charge you commission for tenant finding for the initial contract period and that’s it. I would never use them again. You have been warned

How can I explain my experience is ALEXNEIL … painful perhaps? Was supposed to be a fun and exciting experience for me and my boyfriend however it was disappointing and heartbreaking and ALEXNEIL did nothing to help. We went for a viewing for a FULLY FURNISHED flat … when we moved in we got a ‘PART FURNISHED’ which was the sofa and dining table only. Imagine our shock and surprise. The agency had no idea when I called them, finally the landlady ordered us a bed that was £40 from amazon with a mattress that was WAY to small. We battled back and forth and the landlady only agreed to buy a dining table and tv stand as essentials to the flat. We pay a lot a month for this flat (being new Canary Wharf) and had another -£960 in buying furniture for our so called ‘FULLY FURNISHED FLAT.  We paid stupid amount of a deposit, speaking with ALEXNEIL we was told ‘what more do we want’. They are unprofessional and unable to communicate. To this day (we moved in a few months ago) we are having trouble communicated with ALEXNEIL, they moved us in the a damp, mouldy not so perfect flat and I think I’m in the right to share this with you all. If you choose to go with this company please please do it with your eyes wide open, they’re scammers, they won’t communicate with you after they rob your money. This review was a long time coming.

A happy, Satisfied landlord.

I approached Alex Neil estate agents at the beginning of the month. I had a property to rent in East London. I must say from start too finish I was very, very pleased with the service they provided. the valuation was smooth and on time. no agent was ever late for a viewing. I left the branch a key to my property and every time I would visit on the weekends the place was spotless, not a thing out of place. Upon them finding me a tenant all negotiations were extremely easy. I know have a tenant in place that was referenced vigorously, fast but accurate !I had no issue leaving this Review as I could not be more happy with the service provided. thank you ever so much everyone involved at Alex Neil. Do not trust Alex Neil

We had the worst experience with Alex Neil. After signing the pre-tenancy agreement, which included furniture, we were sent the final tenancy agreement, which again we signed. The final agreement did not include the inventory but nowhere it mentioned that it would void the pre-tenancy agreement.5 days before entering the property, we received a call from the property admin which informed us that the landlord decided that he would not provide any furniture. Alex Neil could not offer a discount towards the rent nor a refund of the agency fee. Saying that we were disappointed is an understatement as we could not take up the apartment any longer as purchasing furniture was not within our budget. It's now 2 days to the day when were are leaving our current flat and we still haven't found a replacement, leaving us stranded on a street and having to beg our friends to let us stay with them.
