Very disappointing experience with Carter Jonas Cambridge. I would strongly advise tenants to avoid renting through them. In my experience, they use unclear tenancy rules to push extra rent and disputed charges onto tenants. My contract was originally fixed-term, but after legal changes they treated it as rolling and tried to charge me almost two extra months, even though I had contacted them in advance about moving out. Even before I moved out, I experienced repeated unexpected charges and payment requests, including cleaning-related and other fees outside the deposit. It felt like once you rent through them, they keep finding ways to send invoices and make tenants pay more. I was also once locked out of the property for three days without proper support, and there were occasions where access to the property was arranged or carried out without proper prior notice to me. Overall, the whole experience was extremely stressful, unclear and unfair. I honestly regret renting through them and would not recommend them to any tenant. If you do rent through them, keep everything in writing, take photos/videos, and challenge every invoice or deduction.

Really poor service. Dealt with Louis from their Winchester Branch who was pleasant (although outwardly commented negatively about others who had viewed the property that day, which I didn't find particularly professional) on the viewing on Friday 13th October. Had some immediate questions which were emailed across within hours of the viewing to which 3 weeks later there hasn't been a response.Put an offer in on the property the following Monday (16th) and had an update on the Wednesday saying probably wouldn't have an update until the end of the week.Didn't receive any further updates (despite chasing) until 8 days later to say there still wasn't a decision but no explanation as to why and that the owners wanted to meet us the following Friday (3rd November - today).Sent a response within 3 hours saying we'd be happy to meet them and also asking some really basic questions. As of today I have had no communication following my email from over a week ago, nor have I received any updates regarding the property or my application.Extremely disappointed and wouldn't recommend to others...

Edit: (check-out) As other reviewers also mentioned, you should wait until you do the check out process before writing any reviews. Although, they were friendly during the check-in process, the company became unfriendly very quickly. They would try to charge you anything they could find "not up to their standards". I would suggest anyone who would let through this agency, to do a thorough recording of the entire house, inside & outside, garden, etc. before moving in. They are quite skilful in manipulating the landlords against the tenants. They also use unskilled contractors to handle cleaning, gardening, etc. so that they can charge you significantly high fees, to the point that it becomes a profit for them. They will try to deduct fees from the deposit during check-out by showing their poor quality photos as proofs. You should create your own portfolio, i.e., lots of photos and videos, so, that, the disputes will be in your favour. I would advice anyone, who would absolutely need to rent a property from them, just to be careful. Otherwise, you'll either lose most of your deposit or your precious time (months!) trying to defend yourself even though you can retain your deposit. Original review: (check-in) I found a nice house to let through Carter Jonas. The letting process was smooth. The welcome card signed by the entire team was a really lovely welcome. The lettings team is very helpful. I also thank Emilia and Stephanie from the lettings team for the arrangements. I am happily continuing to stay at the property.

I moved from Belgium to the UK last summer and we found our current house via Carter Jonas. Our agent was Naomi Blois and we were quite satisfied with our experience for the services of both Naomi (as an agent) and Carter Jonas (as a company). The whole procedure was specifically handled very professionally since that was the 1st time I was trying to rent a place and it was considerably difficult process to execute due to this reason. In many steps Naomi was pretty helpful and supported the whole procedure with her best even though we had some hiccups mainly related to "Right to Rent". The consideration given by both Naomi and Carter Jonas team were really detailed, very supportive and constructive. I do highly recommend to work with Carter Jonas if you are moving from abroad.

I am a tenant in a property managed by Carter Jonas. I am very pleased with Carter Jonas' team. They are fast, reliable and I do not need to follow-up on pending issues as they always keep me updated. Not only they were efficient and patient prior to the signing of the house rent contract, but also after. The whole team is amazing. Emilia Clark was amazing working with her when we decided to rent using Carter Jonas. She clarified nuances of the contract and was quick to come back to us regarding contract amendments. Leisa Jackson takes care of the maintenance and house issues. Leisa takes immediate action and I feel she is available 24 hours even during the weekend. Although Carter Jonas has a sub-contract for house issues, Leisa does not hesitate to take action when we go to her for support. We are completely satisfied with their support. I highly recommend them.
