When buying using Keenans (twice) experience has been a mixed bag: Keenans were underhand - promoting a property at a price (which l offered) but then telling me to submit my 'best price' by a deadline. Secondly, their ' offers over' approach, which l came across over 10 years ago, was misleading and inevitably stress-inducing, and l found their methods distasteful. This said, l did buy through them twice, however, l am not happy to sell through them if they are still using the using this technique, which l do not feel is fair on the buyers. If their methods have changed over the years, then l would applaud this. I also found the fact that as buyers we had to seek out their office in another town to obtain keys to enter newly purchased home rather frustrating and had to wait over an hour. Keys should be more readily available once completion has raken place - at one's solicitors perhaps, if the property is several miles away.

I have been renting from Keenan’s for over a year now and they are very welcoming and professional to deal with. They pay attention to detail and are quick to get any problems or issues sorted if they do arise. Alex from the maintenance team at the Burnley branch has been brilliant. Always goes above and beyond to get issues resolved - even the tricky ones. Thank you for always helping us and for chasing the landlord when things needed fixing urgently. Will probably look to buy from Keenan’s in a couple of years when the time comes to buy a house rather than just renting as everything is done by the book. Can understand why most houses you see up for sale are with Keenan’s!

Refused a second viewing

We viewed a house as first time buyers, we loved the home but as a young couple that’s never looked to purchase a house before, we had a look around briefly and then later that day put an offer in because we loved what we saw! Our offer hadn’t yet been accepted but we called to arrange another viewing to have another look around and explained that we didn’t look properly and wanted to check to see if things were working but were told that they presume things are working as it’s being lived in at the moment and if we wanted another viewing we would have to retract our offer as they want to know we’re ‘serious’ about buying. As first time buyers we weren’t sure of the process and didn’t want to miss out on the house so we stuck with our offer and didn’t view again before our offer was accepted. After speaking to a mortgage advisor, we’ve realised this isn’t standard practice and has resulted in us living in a property we aren’t entirely happy with, one of the issues being damp. If we could have had a look again with others maybe they would have been able to point out signs to us. Really unprofessional and quite upsetting for us now living in a house with problems we can’t afford to fix.

As first time buyers, we understandably had questions and Katie consistently and refutably made us feel an inconvenience to her day. After her rudeness quite frankly brought my partner to tears, we asked to deal with someone else. This was a decision we regretted as Cree, supposedly a senior colleague, again was rude, inefficient and unprofessional. Worst estate agency I been dealing…

Worst estate agency I been dealing with- from start to finish. Massive rotation of staff, lots managers “of managers”. Whole company structure is a joke- nobody is responsible for anything.Opted for full managed service as landlord. They haven’t inspected property, nor checked tenants, they been collecting money and thats it. Tenants trashed newly renovated property and left unpaid bills. Cannot get deposit back, communication is poor- this looping for 5 months now. I will be raising a dispute with my legal team to deal with those cowboys to get my money back as have full trace of evidence (if will not get money back). Been nice and polite, but enough is enough. Advise to Directors and senior staff- reduce your staff, you don’t need dozens of managers who do nothing. Even Keenans employees admitted that lettings side of business is struggling due to internal issues. Please don’t ask to contact you to resolve those problems as I am contacting you every day.

Very Poor Property Management Service

As a quick summary, they are not managing anything after the contract is signed.I bought this buy-to-let property from Keenans, they are doing alright, therefore I do expect they will offer me the same level of service when using them to manage to let off the property.Their salesperson is passionate and impressive therefore I’m happy to sign the contract with them. But very unfortunate, I guess that salesperson is the only person who is passionate about their property management team. As agreed, they did quote all items that need repair or work to me, and I transferred the required amount in less than 12 hours, I think it’s reasonable to expect they will act quickly as they already received payment, not necessarily in days but at least within 1-2wks, and I waited for 6 weeks they still not complete the work (the work should take 3-4 day). Most importantly, I still have no clue about when they will complete the job.I called/sent emails to them numerous times, and I never get a direct reply to my question, I’ll call you back later is the only reply they use but they either do not call back / not answer your question directly.Maybe updating the status of work regularly is too difficult for them, but I believe it’s very basic when someone says they are managing something, let the customer know what to expect, and have no surprise. But their property management team failed to do so, I don’t know when the property can be let, what else needs to be done, how long will it keep unoccupied, and how many more bills I need to pay. Now it ends up in a lose-lose situation, especially during such a market situation which is out of the property to rent, but I must keep mine unoccupied and not get any rental income, and Keenan doesn’t get the commission too.I tried to look for a channel to complain, but it seems it's not available.

Poor lettings management

If you are a landlord - I would not recommend using keenans to manage your property.When my tenants handed in their notice - they didn't tell me or do anything about it so the property was empty a month longer than it needed to be.They never respond to emails to the enquiry inbox, and don't have any sort of processes in place to manage the property. For example when the property was empty they did not tell the utility companies my forwarding address to contact me so I've had to chase this up myself and risk having unpaid bills.They have caused me an undue amount of stress and I will leave them soon as they have broken their side of the contract numerous times and so I have no confidence they are looking after my property.Really poor service, incredibly stressful to deal with and overall disappointing experience.I have used other lettings agents in the past who are much better so I know they are not all as chaotic as this.
