Rang from their opening time (8.45am) to try and get through to book a viewing, repeatedly hung up on, waiting on hold only to be cut off. Finally got through 2.5 hours to be rudely told the property is fully booked (shock). We all know the lettings market in Bristol is crazy, but is there a need to be so rude?

Andy was friendly, helpful and didn't rush me to put the house on the market after the photos were taken. There was very little feedback from Ocean from those dozen people who visitedt our property so no idea whether first time visit, or a repeat. House sold quickly, at advertised price, but buyers after surveyors report wanted to knock £25,000 off the price. I felt the agreed price by Ocean was fair, but felt a lack of support and enthusiasm to push the buyers into paying the amount I'd agreed on. After months of waiting for buyers various reports, they still wanted £25,000 off for no good reason. When Julie was there, I felt she was fully on my side, and after weeks of stress it was finally agreed at £10,000 less than original asking price, which included an estimate for a chimney problem I had offered to pay for at the beginning. Laura had a tough job with the conveyancing both with the buyers and our sellers, and did an excellent job in the light of so many difficulties.

Our property sold very quickly, so I can't comment too much on that side (except that Sam and the team were very friendly and helpful in all communications!). But the real star for us was our move manager Sadie. We had a long chain (5 houses), where we were in the middle, and Sadie was great at chasing all the solicitors and keeping us informed of the progress. Unfortunately we had a last minute change of dates, and Sadie was key to getting the new date agreed quickly, and as completion approached she was keeping an eye on things for us even on a day off, so truly went above and beyond! We would definitely recommend Sadie and the whole Ocean team.

Jemima & James @ Ocean have been absolutely fantastic in the whole process of both offering and moving me into my new rental property. From the very beginning I met James who showed me around the property which I literally fell in love with immediately and expressed my interest in securing it. James was extremely friendly and attentive throughout the process and came back to me so quickly with the offer. I wanted to move in quickly and both James & Jemima did their best to meet my date requirements which was fantastic. They both went above and beyond with my additional requests. The process was pretty smooth considering I am new to the rental market. Upon handover I met Jemima for the first time. What a lovely young lady! She was so friendly, understanding and knowledgeable and explained everything on the move date. Ocean have earned their money from us - we have been selling my Mum's house for over a year and it completed last Friday on the 3rd sale. A bumpy ride at times, but house selling is a stressful process. Some personalities at Ocean easier to deal with than others, but the contacts we eventually worked with were really friendly and helpful and gave the impression they genuinely cared. A special mention to Nicola the 'Move Manager'. I was sceptical to start with, but what an asset she was. She kept everything moving along with the sale, quickly chasing up any tardiness. It was encouraging to have someone to regularly check in with, especially when not much seemed to be happening. But we got their in the end - thank you.

The reason I chose Ocean Legal Dept, was because Ocean estate agents were dealing with the sale of my property. The Legal Dept were not very quick with their responses and after three weeks of hearing nothing I called to find that the solicitor was on holiday. During the sale process, I was often engaging with offices that needed to supply information. At one point I was asked for information, I needed to speak with the original solicitor from ten years ago to get the answer, something that the Ocean agent should have been aware of. The process I thought was slow and was told by e-mail that after asking for information, the Ocean agent told me that the file was on her desk and she would respond to me as soon as she could get around to it. In all I expected a better response and a more professional approach to my case, hence the rating. It would have been nice to be given a discount.

Following a review of your file, we can see that following receipt of instructions at the end of June enabling us to issue the contract pack to the buyer’s solicitors, contracts were exchanged on 30th September. We can confirm that this would be generally considered a reasonable timescale in view of the property sold being leasehold, thereby involving third parties. In addition to the higher caseloads and deadlines experienced by all Conveyancers nationally at that time due to the stamp duty holiday coming to an end, and of unprecedented residential property sales volumes. Customer service of the upmost importance for us at all times and we apologise if you felt that the quality of the service received was less than our usual high standards during this time. Don't expect your rent deposit back from these crooks, my daughter and her fellow tenants lost around £1500, charged £180 to cut a postage stamp sized lawn... Which was mown before they left... £10 to replace a light bulb??? Shocking, the house was tidier when we left it, to be fair ocean owe me money for the maintenance I did on it because there own team didn't fix anything

Thank you for your feedback. As a local independent business and employer of 40 years, we have always taken client care extremely seriously. We take great pride in the thousands of positive reviews from both landlords and tenants. Therefore we feel it important to respond to your comments and assertions.Ocean Lettings manage thousands of properties on behalf of landlords and 'rent only' many more. Whilst we are not aware of what specific property you refer to at this time, we can confirm that all of our tenancies are between the landlord and tenants. Ocean are not the party making the claim on deposits.We will have been instructed by the landlord to relay their claim on to the tenant's deposit following a ‘check-out’ report with accompanying photographs. As your daughter will have been made aware, if she and her friends refuted the claim in any way they were within their right to start arbitration via the TDS (tenancy deposit scheme) where all monies are protected. As the letting agent we cannot pass any funds to one party without the other party’s consent. You have mentioned that your daughter has lost money, therefore she has agreed to the Landlord’s claim, or the TDS has made an arbitration ruling and awarded the monies to the landlord based on the evidence they received.
