Avoid Hunters like the plague!

Hunters Pontefract are an absolute shambles! We found a property we liked and we wanted to move in, it was a townhouse property 3 bedroom with an en-suite priced at £475. What an absolute steal, right? Wrong! On the day we moved in, which was August 2018 our boiler was not giving hot water as it had no pressure in it. We called someone out who didn’t arrive until 2 days later, you have to report the issue on the internet system they use fix flo. The boiler had lost pressure, the piping work by the boiler had a hole which would leak when pressure needed adding, sadly our boiler kept losing pressure repeatedly and it was up to us to keep adding pressure every 2-3 days as their response when I called is “that’s normal for a boiler to lose pressure” . It leaked into my little boy’s room at one point and we were told we are liable for paintwork and damage. He had to be in our room for over a week due to the damp state of the room until it dried out. They sent someone out in relation to the boiler who said “it’s a number of things that could be wrong so I can’t fix it” We began having a leak from our bathroom and reported it, the gentleman that came out suggested our wall was causing the leak and to monitor it. It began leaking into the living room, for weeks no one could identify the issue. Lastly, an agent that came out noticed our tiling as he advised it was really to fall off and was not fitted correctly condemned us from using the bathroom and came out again to rip the tiling away. The en suite was the same but this is still awaiting fixing. Anyway, the leak was not getting better and we couldn’t use the bath or the shower for over a week so were using the en suite, the leak kept getting bigger and bigger. I was at the doctors and they asked if someone could come try and fix the leak whilst I was out which I agreed to, I came back to my home and the living room had a gaping hole in the ceiling full of dust and mold. I was cried that much my mum called the contractor to ask what on earth he had done but his point was “well, I’ve fixed the leak but we can’t fix the ceiling so arrange that with hunters” 3 months later and still not fixed! At this point, I asked to be let out of my contract for the safety of my son and what he was living in.My oven door was loose as well, it would stay up right but would fall down with no springs to steady it when opened so was rather heavy to open. They couldn’t do anything as my landlord was on holiday and could not get a response from him until returning home. After the date he was meant to return home, they couldn’t get a response about the oven. Then, I was baking with my son and the buns had gone in the oven. 10 minutes in, I was stood washing up and my son was making icing on the kitchen floor and the oven door started to crash down, I had to push my son out of the way and it hit the floor to glass shattering everywhere, including glass being stuck in my foot which took over an hour to take out. My partner had to come home early from work because I was in such a state but luckily our son was unscathed. I cried and begged them to let us leave on the phone and spoke to Amie who promised a contractor would be out to clean the glass up and try and repair the oven with tools in his van . The man came out in a jaguar in passing from a rugby game, he had been instructed just to take a look. He said before even looking at the oven “it needs a new oven, I will leave you to clean it up” I was shocked. I was expecting to have some help at least disposing of the glass as he was being paid to attend the property so me and my partner had to clean the glass up and throw it in the bin repeatedly cutting ourselves from the glass on the floor. Within a couple of days, the chap was back with a new oven so I was happy with the quick turn around of that.At the beginning of September we were told we could vacate our property the next month as it was requested to leave by October at the latest. We are leaving in a couple of weeks but the repairs such as the boiler and ceiling hole and tiling in en suite are still awaiting repairs and the house is already back up to rent even though it is still awaiting repairs. If you see a townhouse at £475 with these guys and think it looks nice and you want to go for it. DONT DO IT. Avoid Hunters at all cost, they are an absolute shambles!*Update* 2 weeks before leaving whilst packing up they emailed us saying a house viewing was to take place, I asked if this could be done a different time as we’d all be tired after work with no 48 hours notice, solid no. The same day my son was sent home from nursery throwing up and feeling unwell. I called asking if they would reschedule and basically the manager informed me “if you don’t comply, we can keep you in your tenancy and you can’t leave” I told them my son would be laid on the sofa throwing up and they just didn’t care.

A pleasure to deal with from the first viewing to collecting the keys. We were first time buyers so didn't know what to expect, these guys were brilliant and helped us through the whole process. Both Robyn and Carol were excellent and we couldn't have asked for more.

We recently sold and purchased through the team at Hunters Sutton Coldfield - Faye, Robyn and Kimberley were amazing! It was a turbulent and long winded process that included a number of other estate agents and Hunters were by far the best all round to deal with. From Faye's initial valuation and on-boarding, Robyn helping to find our perfect new home and Kimberley assisting with viewings on our own property and on perspective properties - all 3 ladies were an absolute pleasure to deal with, each going above and beyond (Kimberley and Robyn even keeping us updated on viewings and new prospective properties by sms and email when we were away). Robyn, Faye and Kimberley all recognise that you are selling and buying a home, not just a house and so take their time to understand you and your motivations and pride themselves on their customer service. In the last 12 months we discovered that not all estate agents are equal and really appreciate the effort that each of these ladies put in.PositiveProfessionalism

I entrusted my place on Blythe Grove with Sharon the Lettings manager and she did not let me down. I had doubt at the start as I had a previously bad experience with another letting agent in Sutton Coldfield. She found the tenants, Emailed and kept me updated with what needed to be done even with Covid at the start of the transaction, it was still good! Thanks to Jayne the property manager as well. Good job so far guys. Looking forward to a good tenancy and working well together throughout my time with u!PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Hunters Kendal

Hunters. Kendal.Have no problem recommending this branch. Unfortunately lockdown got in the way. Launch was on Wednesdsy and lockdown Friday which restricted viewing. Kept me well informed as to who was viewing. When I did get a sale dealt with the buyer in no uncertain terms as he was trying to find lots of faults to drive down the price. He didn't succeed! Suzanne Jackson valued my property and was informative and good to deal with as were the rest of the staff in the office dealing with Kendal.

I have recently purchased and subsequently let a property through Hunters. The teams, both in Sales and Lettings, are extremely professional and I would not hesitate in recommending them to family and friends. The whole process from the original purchase of the property to it being let ran very smoothly, if I had a question it was answered without delay. Thanks to Kimberley, Sharon and Alison for all your hard work. LuciePositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Hunters Sutton Coldfield were incredibly proactive in helping to agree a sale on my house in a fraction of the time we were on the market with another agent. Kimberley was relentless in her proactivity and continued to follow up, which gave us so much confidence. Pictures were better, marketing was better, service was quicker, you’ll get a phone call back quicker. Faye and the team are brilliant, I’d highly recommend Hunters.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Highly Recommend - Hunters Lee

I bought my first property and sold it with the support from Hunters Lee. I am really pleased with my choice. Vikram, Sarah and Serhan are amazing - they are very supportive, understanding, calm and super well-organised. They went above and beyond to support me whenever I need. They made the process really smooth and stress free for me with their years of experience, long term vision and excellent communication skills. I highly recommend this team and will definitely work with them again in the future if I have a chance to. Thank you so much all!

Sutton Coldfield - Lack of Professionalism, Very Pretentious & Discriminatory

If 0 stars could be an option then I would have put 0. 4 weeks ago I contacted Hunters, having spoken to Kimberley to want to view a house. She told me she is “so busy replying to morning emails and will get back to me”. (To me this meant I will hear back by the end of the day... to which we never and we contacted Hunters again, to be told they are “so busy”). Kimberley phoned back the following day, took our details, and told us that we “can not afford” the house we wanted to view and “why would we view a house at offers over X amount, when X amount was all we could afford” - which was rather pretentious, condescending and patronising. It seems that Hunters only deal with you, if you are willing to pay the asking price. Anyway, there was another house we wanted to view - Kimberley said that she will organise the viewing give her 24 hours, 4 weeks later, this viewing still hasn’t happened. Over the elapsed 4 weeks, we gave hunters another chance and wanted to view another house, to which we still haven’t heard back about. Having spoken to family and our financial advisor, we wanted to view the original house we initially enquired about because our circumstances have changed. I spoke to Kimberley again, who said “oh I remember talking to you, why do you want to view that house when it is out of your budget” to which I explained my financial situation has changed, and again, she asked why. Which I find rather patronising when I have my DIP for proof yet she is very unprofessional and invasive. Kimberley said “oh great, I’ll get back to you by the end of the day for the viewing”.... nothing. So I left it a few days, still nothing, and I phoned hunters wanting to make a formal complaint. This started to feel personal, and rather discriminatory. Is it my age? My race? My finances? Me and my partner started to feel as if we are being looked down on, so I phoned to make a formal complaint and wanting to speak to Faye. Kimberley explained Faye doesn’t work Sundays, and wants to know why I want to make a complaint - to which I replied - that’s something I want to discuss with the branch manager. She then followed with saying - you have done viewings with us before haven’t you, and I said well this is why I want to complain as I have made 3+ attempts to get a viewing and over 4 weeks, there was absolutely no effort and lack of professionalism - after giving them many chances. Kimberley began to say “oh no that wasn’t me. That absolutely was not me, it was my colleague who has said all this, I would not do that, I am the type of person who will work past 5:30pm to get you into a viewing and take you in my own time” - yet over 4 weeks, she was unable to organise one. She was then readily wanting to make a viewing for us - but we had gone to another estate agents and actually bought a house - who’s service was much better and professional. Kimberley said Faye will call me back on Monday 27th July (I spoke to Kimberley on the 26th), and today writing this review on 31st July, Faye, the Branch Manager, has still yet to follow up which sums Hunters in Sutton Coldfield up as a whole. Lack of customer interest, lack of communication and lack of professionalism. In a job where communication and customer interests are key to either selling or buying a house, I am surprised any body would want to list or buy a house from this branch. This again, feels very personal and discriminatory, regarding either my race or age. Otherwise - what else is the reason? Which no one could answer. In 2020, this is very surreal and saddening. I hope hunters genuinely read this review and sort out their branch, and educate themselves on both communication and professionalism. I do not want this to happen to anyone else - and I hope this gives prospective customers an insight into potential treatment they may receive - and go to another estate agent.

North Somerset’s Best.

I’d just like to thank all the staff at Hunters in North Somerset, Yatton, Portishead and Nailsea offices. They have sold 2 Of our private houses for us in the past 3 Years, and one of our rental properties before that. All Were sold in a matter of days. Of the 2 recent sales the 1st one went through smoothly in 2 months. The second was not quite so good through no fault of Hunters I might add.2nd property sold the 1st day on the market but turned out the lady was telling porkies about her funding so she disappeared after 2 weeks🤬Another Confirmed buyer Within the same week and except for the obvious Covid delays, mainly being unable to sort removals, this time everything went as planned. Many thanks to Richard, Mandy and James for their excellent Professional service and I would strongly recommend Hunters to anyone thinking of selling in the North Somerset area. They know the market in this area so well and really go the extra mile for their clients.

As landlords, we have several properties in Sutton Coldfield and have used most of the local agents. Sharon and her team at Hunters operate at another level. The speed with which she found us new tenants amazed us. What a pleasure it was to deal with her. Professional, personable and communicative, and all at a fee that was much lower than we had come to expect from other agents. Highly recommended.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Amazing service for landlords.

I am a landlord with several properties in Sutton Coldfield. This was the first time that we had used Hunters, and what a pleasant surprise it was. The speed and efficiency with which they found a new tenant amazed us, and their charges were considerable less than other agents. Sharon was outstanding, made every step easy and was a pleasure to deal with. If you are a landlord then I highly recommend this team.

We feel the agent did not convey our…

Hunters, Carlisle Branch. We feel the agent did not convey our offer correctly to the vendor, telling them we had met their price without including the proviso that we had made that our increased offer was to include contents and furnishings to the value of £5,000. Therefore the vendors thought we had met their price while we thought we had negotiated some furnishings for the property. This we feel was dishonest and caused embarrasment and problems when finalising the sale through the solicitors.

So unprofessional

So unprofessional. Middlesbrough- Teesside Lettings branch cancelled my viewings on the same day just an hour before the appointment with a lame reason of not confirming it via an email when the appointments are usually confirmed by phones. Also no necessary information about the property was given a week ago while I booked the appointments but today after them sending me appointment cancellation emails. I had cancelled my plans for today as I had 2 appointments with them. Staff has no manners to talk to a client, the way of sending emails is so casual and informal. They offered me appointment for the next day when I specifically requested for an appointment for today itself a week ago. I just told them I don’t want to go ahead with such unprofessional company. Management needs some training so do the staff in dealing with the clients.

I would certainly recommend using the services of Hunters estate agents in Sutton Coldfield, from start to finish they have been amazing. From the moment when Faye visited our property she truly appreciated the property and gave a genuine true valuation of the property, she was extremely helpful and had a great understanding of the market. Then when we met the other members of the team they were also fantastic and asked all of the right questions to understand the property and help with the sale. In particular I would like to thank Jane who was so helpful from start to finish, constantly providing updates and always available on the phone. Thank you again Richard and Nicola Hart

We’re extremely happy with the service we received from Hunters Sutton Coldfield when purchasing our new home. The first person we contacted was Robyn who was highly professional but very approachable and personable at the same. Her bright personality and positivity around what can be at times a stressful process is a credit to the team. Other members of staff I spoke with including Jan, Faye and a new gentlemen who I think was called Matt were also really helpful throughout the whole process. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. A huge ‘Thank you’ Team Hunters. If we’re ever buying or selling again we will definitely be in touch.

Would highly recommend for a positive, personalised service. As our main contact, from the first meeting onwards, Carly demonstrated confidence and commitment to the sales process. She took time to get to know us and what we wanted to achieve. She communicated with us regularly, delivered on every promise and was available at the end of the phone or by message whenever we needed her. The whole team work hard to deliver a first class service in provision quality photos and property description for marketing, professional accompanied viewings, including weekends which was convenient for us. The follow up post-offer service is efficient in helping to ensure everyone in ‘the chain’ is working towards the same dates for completion. Liaison with solicitors is also efficient. Brilliant experience - thanks all.

Our house purchase has been challenging, a leasehold house but complete in freehold. We have been experiencing many unexpected issues during the process, and are glad to have Carly. She was always responsive, and extremely efficient. EVERYTIME, she listens to me PATIENTLY, and takes action IMMEDIATELY. Without Carly, I can't imagine how much longer it will take to complete. I am a landlord of a property in Sutton Coldfield and I have used Hunters Lettings for a number of years. In particular, Sharon, manager of Hunters Lettings. Sharon has always proven to be an invaluable source of support and advice. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Over the years, I have taken a number of complex queries to Sharon and she has always provided a fair resolution. I wouldn't let my property through anybody else. I highly recommend Hunters Lettings. Dishonest, incompetent and terrible attitude

Should you choose this letting agents here are a few things you can expect as routine:1) Lying about the status of properties on the market and deliberately misleading all parties on the status of such properties.2) Arranging appointments to view properties that they don't even turn up to meet you at.3) Cocky, arrogant and sarcastic customer service. They really do not care AT ALL!Literally the worst letting agent you could ever choose to instruct. As you can see from the other reviews, dishonesty, incompetence and terrible staff attitudes are a feature. There is a reason for that. Be warned.
