Barons Estate Agents was formed in 1988 by Kevin Penfold & Trevor Lee, with the office being opened in February of that year. That same office is still open and thriving at Winton Square in Basingstoke. Both directors started their career at large independent estate agencies in the early 1980’s, working their way up the career ladder from trainees, to office managers, and finally regional managers. Along the way gaining extensive knowledge of how to deal with a range of properties, people and the ever-changing legal system. Kevin & Trevor met whilst working at Parkers Independent Estate Agency and developed a great working relationship. Parkers was eventually taken over by Legal & General; keen not to enter the corporate environment and all that goes with it, Kevin & Trevor hatched plans to establish a local independent estate agent that would go the extra mile for their clients. Having undertaken extensive market research, they decided that Basingstoke was the place to be. Starting the agency with themselves and two other employees they hit the ground running by selling their first property in Brighton Hill and haven’t looked back since. Throughout the years they have witnessed ever changing market places, large property developments being built and ever-changing regulations and laws. We bought our first house through Barons and after the excellent service we experienced, we then sold the house through them too. Charlie was fantastic at keeping us updated throughout the process and allowed us to have an input into the marketing of the property. Charlie made selling our house so easy and regularly contacted solicitors/the agents we bought our new house through so that we didn’t have to, saving us so much time. Patrick was also always on hand and they keep excellent records of how things are progressing so Patrick could always give us an update very quickly.

Baron’s Estate Agents were excellent in the sale and purchase of our property’s. From the moment we met Trevor & Charlie to understanding our reasons for moving, it was superb. No rush, no sales talk, just a worthwhile honest appraisal completed and we were on the market. From that point all Viewings night, day and weekend were handled in a very professional manner. Feedback given on viewings and excellent communication throughout. We secured a buyer and then bought our property. From this point, Baron’s again excelled with all information sales progression should do. They were the Agent doing all the sales progression of the chain (other agents did not do this) and Baron’s brought it all together and were on the ball with Solicitor’s. Completion happened and again the customer service was excellent. The Team of Trevor, Kevin, Patrick, Charlie and Matt I can’t praise enough. They know their stuff, they know the local market inside/out hence being around for over 30 years and I would thoroughly recommend anyone to use Baron’s Estate Agents.

Everyone we dealt with at Barons were fantastic from start to finish. Clearly a great team. Communication was second to none and above our expectations. Charlie was our main contact and we couldn't fault him. Selling a property from being on the other side of the world we were pretty nervous how things go however working with Barons the process was made simple, easy and hassle free. Even though Barons were our seller's Estate agent and not ours, Charlie Mather called us every week to update us on what was going on in the chain. I also remember Charlie contacting me previously about paint colours in a different place I sold to help out the new owner, which was very kind of him. The service received from Trevor, Charlie and the team is exceptional and they always do what they say they are going to do and get a sale completed very fast. After some complications with our purchase, the team did everything they could so the sale wasn’t affected, and without this we would have definitely lost the sale. I worked mostly with Patrick and Charlie who were both brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, they kept me informed and were really friendly and professional. I would highly recomment both of them. From start to finish, Barons Estate Agents have been absolutely wonderful! At every point in our transaction, they have been professional, helpful, polite and friendly. Their customer service is absolutely second to none. It’s so refreshing to deal with a company who clearly put emphasis on good communication - they respond to emails quickly, they will call you back when they say they will, they even provided us with regular updates about the purchase off their own back so we were continuously informed. Absolute nothing was too much trouble, from regularly chasing up solicitors to helping with any questions, we really feel like we can rely on Barons. We had a particular situation with our purchase that nearly scared us away, however Barons went out of their way to do everything they could to help with this, including setting up a face to face meeting between the property owner and ourselves and attending the meeting themselves too. I’m paraphrasing, but one of my conversations with Charlie was “Obviously we do this job to be paid, but we truly want you to love the house you buy and it’s our job to make sure that everything is right for you” I’m left on no doubt that this wasn’t just words, it’s very clear from our experience with Barons that they really do, and will do, everything they can to make your experience a great one. Well done and thank you to Charlie in particular, and to Patrick and the rest of the team who have helped - you have been a massive part of making our dream come true.

From the moment we stepped into their offices to the moment we picked up the keys to our first property a few months later, Patrick and the rest of the Barons team were nothing but faultless. As first time buyers we were naturally nervous about the whole process but they made everything as easy as possible. They were approachable, friendly and easily contactable the whole time, nothing was too much trouble. We never felt rushed or pressured into making decisions and it genuinely felt like they were on our side throughout the whole process and supported us throughout the negotiations. The stereotypical pushy estate agent image we had in our heads, and expected, going into this process couldn't have been further from the truth. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Barons again in the future. 10/10 experience!
