Sold our Flat with Bear a month ago- amazing experience from the moment I rang to book a Valuation and Frankie gave us so much advice- such a lovely guy, to when Kyle came to value it through to the day of completion. Kyle is a genuine, friendly and helpful guy who works so hard for his business. Sydney, Progress Chaser was wonderful- such an efficient, lovely girl- who was on top of everything for us. I’d have no hesitation in recommending Bear to anyone and will do so. We will use Bear in the future when we are looking for a new property or selling. Thank you Team Bear- you’re all amazing!

OK, so when you looking at estate agents and your weighing up your options.....this decision is a no brainer!! Don't be concerned that Bears 2 price options are 'too cheap' and you won't get the level of service or coverage compared to the other 'more expensive' estate agents. Since working to sell my property with Kyle and his team this summer, I found everyone at Bear to be highly professional, super friendly and totally motivated. They provided me with whatever it took to sell my property and get us over the finish line, which was at times, above and beyond! Ask yourself one question, why pay more?? Your get nothing else for it......tried and tested. Your welcome.

I had a disappointing experience with…

I had a disappointing experience with this estate agent. After waiting over 5 months for the vendor to provide a building certificate requested by my lender, they withdrew as soon as I began the process of arranging inspections to be carried out. The boiler hadn’t been serviced in years, despite the negotiator, Jack, assuring me during the viewing that it was 'regularly serviced.' My buyer’s report recommended I conduct checks, as the only boiler record was from 2010, back when I was still in secondary school! Once the report was provided to me end of August 2024, I immediately worked to get the inspections booked in with the agent. I was informed that the vendor was unhappy as I had my mortgage offer since end of July 2024. I informed the agents that my conveyancer has completed their due diligence and strongly advised I get these inspections done before exchange. Exchange which I was positive would be set to take place by latest end of September pending the inspections all coming back clear. When I raised this, Joe, the managing director, remarked, 'Your conveyancer should have advised you to do this check sooner,' which came across as both unprofessional and condescending. To top it off, the vendor has now relisted the property with a £35k price increase. The behaviour from both the vendor and the agent felt like pure intimidation and bullying.

I cannot thank Joe, Helen and Sydney enough. From the first valuation of our property, Bear were friendly, helpful and always contactable. Despite having a slow chain above, Bear kept us updated throughout and helped push our sale through. We were so impressed with Bear’s personal approach we have already recommended them to our friends! Thanks again guys!

Disappointed - would not recommend

Previous sales/purchases with other agents have shown a stark comparison to what we have experienced with our recent purchase with BEAR in Leigh on sea.

We bought the property 48 Beaufort Street. We were told that the seller had to move out by 12 noon on that day so we arranged removal van for 13.00 arrival at the property. As we arrived, we found out that the exchange was delayed therefore we cannot enter the property yet. The removal people had to leave all our stuffs outside of the property and my partner and I were waiting in the cold. We called Sydney multiple times to check when we do have the go ahead, whether she can meet us in the property to hand us the key as we are not driving and we do not know the town. She kept saying that she and the team were too busy and no one can deliver us the key. By that time, my partner and I were already waited in the cold for a couple of hours. As we were waiting outside, we noticed that the sellers were actually in the house. We called Sydney again to check if the sellers were inside and asked if she can liaise with them handing us the key. She said she'd left them a message. We also alerted our lawyer that the seller were in the property and the lawyer said they shouldn't be. Shortly after, the sellers walked out of the property, closing the door behind them and leaving the keys inside of the house. We called Sydney again for help as we were very cold and struggled to navigate the town to get to the office to collect the key. Again, she said she can't help. In the end, at around 15.30, I had to cycle from the property for 45 minutes to the office to collect the key. My phone was dying and I had to take my partner's phone for GPS. It was then getting dark and my father in law, who had my two year old baby, had already arrived the property. So I ordered a taxi from Bears' office to come back to find my in laws, my baby and my partner were all waiting outside in the cold for me to access the property. It was a sad scene to witness on a supposedly happy day of moving into a new property. I think this experience is appalling. I am a customer who paid a large amount for a property and was told they can't deliver me the key for my product and I had to navigate my way in a brand new town to collect the key on my bike, whilst already having waited in the cold for hours. My partner had to wait in the cold for hours watching our stuffs left by the removal people and he couldn't even go to the toilet or accept the offer of waiting inside by our neighbours. By the time we entered the property, it was already 16.30. It was dark, cold and we were hungry with a 2 year old baby needing attention, yet, we still need to unload everything by ourselves as the removal guys had gone. Perhaps it could have been avoided if your office cared enough to liaise with the seller so we can get in as the property was empty, the seller were just inside keeping warm. It was a long stressful day and I'm still shocked at how unsympathetic your team can be. Never mind I'm a customer, it's just not a normal human being should treat another human being. This is the second time I owned a property, the first time I bought my property I was certainly met and greeted by my property agent at the property and handed the key to me, saying thank you and welcome and congratulations. I really don't feel Sydney has valued me as a customer or a person, in fact, I feel being treated like a piece of garbage by her.

Good morning Shan. We would like to respond to your review so we can clarify the position. Unfortunately, when you buy a property, you are ultimately at the hands of the solicitors and only the solicitors can give us authority to release keys after they receive the funds. Also, when a seller moves from their home, they have to pack up, vacate the property and are also reliant on a removal company to assist them in doing this. They cannot move on until they receive confirmation they have completed on their onward purchase. On this occasion we had received a call to say completion had taken place, but we could not hand over the keys as the sellers were still in the process of moving. They had already dropped off a set of keys before completion and told us to contact them before releasing them. You had asked if you could go directly to the property but the sellers (our clients) had instructed us they did not want to meet with you directly and their preference was to bring the keys to us. Our instructions from our clients was to not release the keys to you until they had vacated the property. When you called to say you were outside the property we tried to call the seller to ask them if they would hand over their set of keys but we couldn’t reach them. Sydney would have told you, when you called, we could not drop keys to you at the property as we didn’t have the free diary time to do this as most staff were already out of the office on appointments. The property is not very far from our office (approx. six mins drive or taxi ride). I also understand that when you arrived at our offices you were offered to wait in the warm, we made you a hot beverage, plus I understand you also sat with a member of staff and discussed the area you have moved to. I believe we also called you a taxi to take you back to the property. Sydney is a valued member of staff and as you will see from previous reviews, she is thought of highly by other vendors and buyers alike. Whilst you say you are a customer who has paid a great deal for a property, I would like to clarify our client is the seller and we do not receive the money you paid for the property, we only receive a fee from your sellers, and as such we have to take and execute their instructions as our paying client. Irrespective of this, we always treat our buyers with the utmost respect and are disappointed to read your review, especially in light of us renegotiating the price just before exchange and chasing the solicitors on a regular basis for you to be able to move into your new home. I hope this clarifies our position.

Terrible customer service, multiple times. They are unprofessional at viewings. On one occasion the estate agent was dressed in his Saturday going out clothes and couldn’t get us out of the door quick enough. At other viewings they clearly seemed disinterested in the property they were selling and tried to sell us other houses at the same time. When we did find a property we liked via Bear, they were poor with communication. We were unfortunate with our chain and rather than speak to us about it, they sneakily re-advertised the house we had offered on, and re sold the house! This is after we had paid a holding deposit and spent money on searches and surveys. The least they could have done was to inform the buyers that the house was back on the market. I found out via right move! We spent hours waiting for calls back from them and mostly found out what was going on via other estate agents in the chain. Would never use them again and do not recommend.

Agent replied · 23 April 2026

Good Evening Alison, We are sorry to hear you have had a bad experience in searching for a property through us. Our staff follow a strict dress code and they are trained to discuss all properties that we are marketing, whether that’s over the phone, on email or attending appointments. The more properties that are offered to you, the more chance we have in finding one that meets your requirements and therefore satisfying our clients by achieving a sale. It was disappointing for all parties involved that your purchase through us did not work out due to your chain breaking. We were advised by our client to remarket the property and the holding fee was returned to you. The market is still very buoyant even though Christmas is less than a month away and we are still experiencing a high volume of calls so we apologise you may have had to wait longer than usual for a call back. We wish you all the best with your future search.

Through a very complicated sale the staff at bear estates did everything they could to help. Not only did they sell our property within 24 hours of being on the market they also provided advice and support throughout and were always avaliable. A special thanks to Helen and Sydney who both really went above and beyond. But I must say everyone I have spoken to has been nothing but helpful. I would highly recommend them.

Bear were not our agents, but we wished we had used them!! They were always on top of what was happening in a chain of 7, and anytime we needed an update we knew that Sydney was the person who would know what was happening. If we ever move again we would have no hesitation is using them, and if we hear of people moving, we will absolutely recommend they go with Bear!!

Explained everything clearly and always got back to me very quickly. A really friendly team to deal with particularly Sydney who I spoke to most of the time. Highly recommended. Thanks guys, happily settled in our new home before lockdown. 🙂
