Horrendous experience

Horrendous experience. Do not sign a 20 week contact! Within a couple of weeks, they had lied to me on several occasions and had provided a terrible service. They apologised for the unacceptable level of dishonestly but still refused to release me from the contract that they were in breach of. They knew that their official complaints procedure was longer than my remaining contract (after stalling for several weeks), so they had me trapped with no way out. This was knowing that I was in a rush to move in time for school applications, and missing them would seriously affect our family.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!

I found Bridges Estate Agents my worst experience ever in dealing with a company, and not to mention how dreadful it was in having James Macphee (Associate Director none the less) manage the sale or in this case what looks to be the fictitious sale of our property. Firstly James tried to convince us that a flat rate fee that they were charging was better than their 0.7% selling fee, although the flat rate fee was several hundreds of pounds more expensive.Secondly James instructed the firms associated conveyancing company to act for us even though we did not instruct him to do so.Thirdly James tried to convince us to spend several hundreds of pounds on professional photos instead of their own and when we refused he did them for free!!!!! We avoided a rip off charge there!Fourthly They never answer their phones and you have to always wait several hours for a call back, a house we were attempting to buy the estate agent attempted to contact James at Bridges in the morning to verify our situation so that they could put an offer to the seller and there was no contact from James or Bridges for over 5 hours so we then had to chase Bridges to insist they speak with the other estate agents to verify our situation.Fifthly James and Bridges when informing us of an offer on our property were in breach of their own contract obligation and broke the Consumer Property Regulations act by NOT informing us that the person who put in an offer on our property did not have a mortgage in place and neither did the people buying their property even though James knew that the buyers of our property were fully aware that the buyers of their property had already had a mortgage refused and therefore failing to tell us that our buyers were not in any position to proceed with buying a house and therefore denying us our right to make an informed decision and what makes it worse is that we found out 2/3 months after our house was sold subject to contract and we turned away another very keen buyer just after accepting this offer of which had we been made aware at the time we would not have accepted the offer. Which is now going to cost us in solicitors fees that we should never have had had we been informed of our buyers situation and especially as we have since found out that our buyers buyers have had a second mortgage application refused, yet it has been a week since we found out this information yet we have had no contact from Bridges to inform us of this!!!!Since giving James Macphee and Bridges the 21 days notice to stop being our agent (although under the Consumer Property Regulations act they should have cancelled the contract straight away seeing as they were in breach of their very own contract and standards of service they promise to deliver), we have made several attempts to contact them both James and Saskia asking questions and any contact that we have made has been completely ignored.I work for an organisation that employs approximately 700,000 staff and I am spreading the word on the unprofessional, dishonest, ignorant, time wasting service we have had from Bridges Estate Agents and James Macphee (ASSociate Director no less) if staff at the top behave in this way then you can be rest assured that this feeds down the line.

I had, had my house on the market for more than 8 months with Purplebricks when I instructed Ben at Bridges and I never looked back! I originally had Ben at Bridges around when I got quotes initially from 5 different agents. I really liked the service Bridges offered and the ethos of the company, but I just could not get over the fact that I would end up paying PurpleBricks a lot less than I would traditional agent fees on my £400K plus house sale. How wrong I was... At first PurpleBricks were great, its quick and easy and so much online, it suited me with my busy work and lifestyle. We also paid for them to do viewings as I didn't want to have to be in all the time and manage it. PurpleBricks managed to do a couple of viewings but after each they had been asked questions about the local area that they couldn't answer as they were not local. They forgot the keys to one viewing who never re-booked and then they asked me to do a few subsequent viewings as they were too busy - not the service I had paid extra for! The icing on the cake for me was that viewings slowed right down and when I enquired what had happened they explained that the agent covering my area had left! I can't believe that I had to chase them for all of that. I had, had enough and even though it meant that I lost my outset of money I decided to give Bridges a call as I knew they knew the area well and that they would be the best of the local agents in the area. I was so glad I did, I hardly had to chase them for anything and they kept me informed about everything. My house struggled to sell but Ben and the team kept in touch and recommended doing things to market the property in a different way to keep it new and fresh. When I decided to take it off the market for a break then Ben always kept in touch and advised on the right time to put it back on the market. I may have been their longest serving client but I didn't loose faith in them because if anyone was going to sell my house with the passion and vigour they displayed then I knew they would even through Covid and all the issues that caused... I was right! Ben was even great at keeping the solicitors moving when things with the actual sales slowed down. He even offered to help with removal company when things started to move more quickly and I suddenly needed them at short notice. He really went above and beyond to get the house sold in a decent timeframe once the offer was agreed. My advice to you - you get what you pay for... I can hand on heart 100% recommend Ben and all of the Bridges team!PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Been meaning to leave a review for 2 years! So initially started as a good process, very professional and efficient. Lots of properties, there's a reason why a lot of people do sell through Bridges. We were buying in the summer of 2018 with no chain so everything was going smoothly. One question we needed answering about the property caused a 3 week delay as the seller wasn't responding to the solicitors. When the contact at Bridges came back from holiday his manner had changed towards us, we were receiving emails at all sorts of hours (23:10 being the latest time we received one). The whole manner of conversation over the phone the next day was rude and I wouldn't expect an estate agent to speak down to a buyer (or seller) the way we were spoken to, I couldn't possibly imagine someone speaking like that in a face to face conversation. Sale was concluded a few weeks afterwards. To summarise, excellent to begin with but a poor finish. I hope they have improved their service since then.NegativeProfessionalism

Bridges in Ash Vale helped us find a buyer for our house quite quickly. Ben Granville listened to our opinions and wishes in terms of the selling price of the house and when we did find a buyer he managed to negotiate for us a slightly higher price. Ben is definitely a sales person through and through. We had a very painful and long sales process because of the chain and Ben has been very supportive, helping us out with chasing and showing that he cares. He was in contact with us even if on annual leave which was greatly appreciated. Even if Ben has been amazing throughout one suggestion for Bridges is to get competent sales progressors so in this way their agents won't be so overwhelmed with the chasing and keeping things under control during the sales process whilst they have to sell as well.PositiveResponsiveness, Value

Bridges have been amazing to deal with. Every member of staff we have spoken to has been friendly and helpful. They are always willing and positive. Two years ago Ben helped us purchase our house and we built a great relationship back then. He really took the time to understand our needs and showed us a house which we hadn’t considered before. We loved it! 2 years on we have come to sell and thought we would approach Ben to see what it would be like to sell through Bridges. Out of the 3 agents we had value our home, Bridges/Ben were by far the best. Punctual, enthusiastic and showed personality. It felt like the entire team were excited to help us sell our home and Morgan did a great job at producing our listing and showcasing us online. We were quite particular with how we wanted our listing to be shown and the team accommodated these requests really well. Within hours of being online, we received numerous calls for viewings and the in house team that deal with this side of things were friendly and it felt like a really efficient way of dealing with booking viewings. We felt really confident that Bridges would do a great job of showing potential purchasers our home due to their enthusiasm. Within hours we had 17 viewings lined up over the next few days. After the first 2 days of viewings, we had received 5 offers (thank you to Ed/Ben who must have spent a good few hours showing people round!). We were absolutely thrilled and delighted to change the for sale sign to sold on the second day and Bridges had helped us agree an offer which was £20,000 over the asking price. We have now exchanged on our sale and the journey from sale agreed to exchange of contracts has been a smooth and easy one. Ben has been our main point of contact throughout and has been there to provide us with updates every step of the way. A big thank you goes to Ben who we have built a great relationship with. He has made the whole process a fun, exciting and pleasurable experience. His positive attitude never changes any time that you speak to him and he clearly enjoys his job. COME ON! We would highly recommend Ben and the Bridges Ash Vale office to anyone looking to sell or buy. My partner and I work within the property industry and have high standards because of this. My son and his wife have just completed on his sale in Aldershot. He is currently living abroad and so the sale had to be managed remotely. I(his mother) interviewed several estate agents on their behalf and recommended Simon Kerry at Bridges to them mostly because I was comfortable with his experience and knowledge of the local area, and have been delighted with the choice. He managed the whole process with confidence and skill, a consummate professional despite both solicitors being not at all up to scratch and nearly scuppering the sale several times.I would highly recommend Bridges but particularly Simon. Bridges don't care about you once you sign the contract

I asked for several things to be repaired prior to moving in. These weren't done. Not only that but the cleaners also smashed the glass on my oven. A month later and it still isn't repaired. I am given a variety of subcontractors numbers who are unable to help and the latest number isn't even recognised. Make sure the property is right before you move in and hope that it never needs repairs or you will be like me left without essentials for a long time
