Nightmare

They are by far the worst property agency in Manchester. They are unprofessional, inefficient, unhelpful, don't care about the tenant and only think about money. When it comes to renting the property and getting paid, they are extremely fast and efficient. Now, when you have a problem and need help, they don't care. They don't care about anything for the duration of your contract, only that you pay them monthly. When there are problems with the property, they wash their hands of it. They are also liars, cheeky and shameless. They hide information from you. There were works planned on the front of the property and they hid it from us at the time of our contract renewal, so we had to suffer annoying works on the outside of the property during our whole stay. Some of the situations we had to deal with them are absolutely surreal. Far from helping, they make things difficult. We had to report them to the council so that they would deign to do some work in the flat where we were staying where water was filtering in and creating damp. During our stay, I just prayed that nothing serious would break down in the flat because I didn't know if they would fix it. All in all, a horrible experience and an agency that I would not recommend to anyone.

Keys were available and ready for collection yesterday and a tenancy pack has been sent which contains all the necessary certificationThanks again the location and flat are excellent

Avoid if you can!

As a rent paying tenant, Thornley Groves are the worst I've ever dealt with. Beyond incompentent. No professionalism and no accountability. A repair that could have been fixed in 2 weeks has taken 4 months and only got done because the landlord decided to sort it himself. There is something seriously wrong with this company and I suspect it comes from mismanagement by senior staff / directors. I hesitate to call it a company because that implies some kind of competence. They are total cowboys. Avoid at all costs!

We recently ended a tenancy, managed by Thornley Groves. I lost count of the number of property manager that came and went during the 8.5 years that we had it tenanted, so it’s a pity that the best one of all, Aleaya Afzaal, came along as we were preparing ro stop tenanting and sell. She has been totally on the ball and acted promptly on any issue that has arisen, that we have put her way. If she had been our property manager all along I would have give TG an extra star, at least.

Good advice and rapid letting of flat

From the moment I decided to let the flat the whole team at Thornley Groves gave good advice on rental levels and a wide range of other things that needed to be thought about and sorted. Ashley Smith was very personable when I met him, sensibly checked out the flat was at its best with lights on etc a few minutes before he showed a client up. The flat was let within a couple of days.

Thornley Groves Monton: Excellent service

We have just collected the keys to our rental property and the entire process has been easy and smooth, has only taken just over 2 weeks from viewing to key collection. Lucy Johnson is very professional and kept us informed at every stage, making sure that our referencing progressed quickly. Kevin Russell met us to view the property, and again was professional and explained the process clearly. Excellent customer service from the agent.

Your agent, Karen, was very courteous and answered my queries positively. She also gave me some great advice on how best to ensure I make it to the viewing list each time. I would be very happy indeed to use Thornley Groves Prestwich again, thanks to Karen's excellent customer service.My one criticism was with the listing itself, so only four stars, not five. The flat was listed as furnished, but the fire safety labels on all soft furnishings, including the bed, were missing. Karen told me that the landlord had the option of removing and replacing, or simply removing. Removing without replacing would turn it into an unfurnished flat, which is not what was listed on Rightmove.

This is a review for Amanda O'hearty property manager at Thornley Grove estate agents. I had issues with moving in to the property and I was passed on to Amanda as our property manager. I think this is a great idea to have a property manager as normally estate agent just tend to forget you once you have paid all the deposit and rent etc. Amanda is a pleasure to have as a property manager, she always goes the extra mile to sorting out issues, we had an issue which didn't get fixed for 5 weeks but Amanda managed to get it all sorted quickly, and efficiently. I only have five start here because of the help, support, understanding professionalism and care I have received from Amanda. I am looking forward to be staying here for long as I know I have a caring manager in Amanda who always goes the extra mile to get things sorted.

DO NOT USE THORNLEY GROVES

AVOID THORNLEYI do not write bad reviews normally, but unfortunately Thornley has been so bad I don't want anyone else to suffer in the same way. Below you will find the abrasive mindsets that Thornley Groves adopts:1. Landlords are wealthy. Charge them for everything.2. Agents time is more important than the landlords time.3. Add big mark ups to contractor fees, cleaners, plumbers whatever you can think of.4. Do as little as possible. 5. Charge as much as possible. 6. Do not think of solutions, just charge the landlord (they're wealthy).7. Make things difficult so the landlord thinks we are adding value. 8. Use an out of date accounting system.9. Preventative Maintenance? What's that?...just charge the landlord.10. If the landlord decides to leave Thornley Groves, make the handover to any new agent as difficult as possible. That will teach them!I am not a wealthy landlord and I lived overseas for many years, so was unable to compare the market. Thornley simply charged me extortionate fees on the hope I wouldn't check, and unfortunately I didn't. My bad. I left a review previously about Katie who managed our property was sweet but even then I mentioned the rocky patch, that rocky patch was not just a patch. Now that I am resident in the UK again I decided to check the market. I was shocked at how much Thornley Groves were charging me compared to the market. My fault I know. The challenges really arose when we signed up a new letting agent. It was like Thornley were throwing a tantrum. They refused to be helpful, they made the new agent runs around, refused to respond to her questions, made it difficult to get the keys for handover, claimed they had got the end of tenancy cleaners in, then told the cleaners only to clean the microwave and the cooker, then charge the landlord and on top of that hadn't bothered to ensure the property had a valid EICR.The new agent found a new tenant and despite Thornley promising a handover date and a clean, had to book a hotel for a few nights as Thornley hadn't done what it said it would and to top it off, the new agent had to employ another cleaner to actually clean the property. There is so much more, my recommendation. Choose someone else.
