Googlerubbish company.
There was no inventory done prior to me moving in.
lost set of keys to flat, letter box and shed, got keys cut for flat and asked for copies for letter box and shed one month after moving in and these were never received in my 7-8 months of living there!
Bought my own washing machine and when I moved out they tried to tell me it was the landlords and they needed proof of purchase !!
When I moved out I left the place spotless and they still charged me about £60 for "light cleaning" ?!
I had terrible neighbors upstairs who were drug dealers and not working, who often blocked my car in my drive way. I told purple frog but they did nothing. An employee of purple frog disclosed to me that the upstairs tenants hadnt produced any form of ID to them?! Or references, employment details etc! I don't know how they were able to live there, and by that time they had been living their 3 months+!!!
Near to the time i was moving out, there were viewings taking place at my flat when I was at work. On three occasions I arrived home to an unlocked flat. I told them and they didn't believe me!! 3 separate times it happened!
In conclusion, the staff are rubbish and so is they company, not professional at all.

Dear Antonia
My sincere apologies that you had so many problems as a Purple Frog tenant. We try to ensure that all of our tenants can enjoy a safe, secure and friendly experience. I am sorry that this wasn’t the case for you.
I have tried to contact you, but the mobile number I have on record is no longer recognized. If you would like to speak to me in person about these issues, my direct number is 0121 227 4188. Or you can email me at james.mason@purplefrogproperty.com.
In terms of the inventory, no, an inventory was not taken. And this is the fault of the branch. However, we have a new team in place in Bristol and have reviewed, updated and improved our inventory process. We needed to check who owned the washing machine, because the previous team had not taken an inventory. I am sorry if it felt like we were calling your ownership into question, rather than merely checking on behalf of our landlord. It was not our intention to upset you.
We take your safety very seriously and the Purple Frog team did speak to your neighbours and promised you that we would monitor the situation. Without proof that they were engaged in any criminal activity, it is very hard to act against residents. For us to accuse them without evidence is unfair and possibly unlawful. This means I can’t comment on whether your neighbours were dealing in drugs. If we had had evidence, we would have acted as appropriate.
The member of staff who discussed the upstairs tenants should not have spoken about this with you. Whether the staff member’s claims are true or not, their statements were enough to make you feel insecure in your home. The person in question has been spoken to about this matter.
Further to this, part of the reason for employing a new team in Bristol was to ensure that the systems that we use to vet tenants are strictly adhered to. All Purple Frog tenants are required to provide two forms of identification alongside guarantor forms and other assurances. There are no exceptions. Tenants who do not provide this information are not allowed to collect their keys!
I have spoken to the Bristol team about leaving the door unlocked. The two members of staff are both certain that they locked the door. That said, this should have alerted them to a possible problem with the front door and they should have sent a maintenance person over to investigate. My apologies that this didn’t happen. The team has promised that reports such as this will now be treated as a maintenance issue, and acted upon as such.
Finally, in terms of the cleaning bill, we always try and do a final inspection and key return with the tenant present. This makes the process transparent and helps reduce occasions where tenants feel they have been stuck with a ‘surprise’ cost. That said, we do listen to tenants comments. One of which is that the final inspection is occasionally too late to help correct issues that might cause a fee. That is why we now try and offer a pre-leaving inspection, which helps tenants see where charges might be incurred.
Again, my apologies that you feel let down by our service. We try to give all of our tenants the best experience possible. Your review has highlighted some issues, which the team is now aware of and will correct its actions from now on.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. I realise that this answer is very long, but I wanted to take the time to address your concerns fully.
If you would like to discuss this further, my direct line is 0121 227 4188. Or you can email me at james.mason@purplefrogproperty.com.
Thanks
James Mason

GoogleWe came into Purple Frog by chance, after visiting three other agencies that couldn't find what we were looking for. There, Alex Parsons greeted us with a joyful smile AND a place to visit. And we loved it ! It was exactly what we wanted, only cheaper.

GoogleIt seems like unfortunately I am having to revoke my 4 star review in light of the issues surrounding the return of my deposit. When we signed up for the tenancy it was explained to us that it was a joint lease and that one person would need to be named as the lead tenant. Not to worry about this. It would not affect anything else other than the paperwork and you know having someone to name as the lead tenant. Deposits were paid separately. At no point was it explained that the deposit would be a joint affair too. Jump forward to almost 6 months after the end of the tenancy and I learn that my deposit will be paid back to the lead tenant (not me) whom I'm no longer on speaking terms with. I was also told on check out that I would be expecting to receive my full deposit back. After charges for damage to my flatmates room and other charges that they said they would not add, around half is due back but not to me. I have already waved goodbye to that money as it's in the hands of my ex flatmate. Well done Purple Frog for ruining Christmas for me! In addition to this no inventory was provided at the start of the tenancy.

GoogleAs a landlord working with Purple Frog for many years, I am happy with the service provided.
Even though they do not manage my properties I truly believe they have tried their best to market and let my properties.
I can confidently say, I know all the well known agents in selly oak and surrounding areas and have experienced the unprofessional and underhanding tactics that some of them adapt.
There have been times in the past when I would have liked them to have let more of my properties but as I know they have honestly tried, then I can't complain. "You can't get everything in life"
Great Service. Professional Staff. Would Reccommend to students and landlords.

GoogleDo not use, they are a bunch of amateurs. We have had a list of maintenance issues since we moved in that are still not fixed. Even the landlord has said they are useless. When we moved in the boiler was broken even though they knew about this even two months before. When we first booked viewings we were forced to wait half an hour because they were late and disorganized. I would not recommend using them under any circumstances. When we moved in we made a list of thing that were broken 2 pages long despite them claiming they had checked the property over and that it was in a good condition.

GoogleI rented a property with purple frog in my second year of university, the house itself was disgusting but at the time we were students and simply needed a place to live, the first day we moved in we found mice droppings!
The ceiling in the kitchen was falling through, none of the Windows had seals on them, there was a complete lack of security, and even though we reported it as Maintence, no one cared enough to come and fix it! Thought the whole tenancy I was loyal, sent all my money on time, never created any issues for them, unfortunately my housemates weren't as considerate, they late paid a couple of times, and for this, purple frog will not return a single penny of my deposit to me. At the beginning of the tenancy they took guarantors for all of us obviously for issues where they can't get the money from the tenant directly, however now, it is 2016 and I have been arguing for my deposit back for a whole year, I have done nothing wrong, but they are holding my money and will not give it back to me even though I owe them nothing, it's the other tenants that owe Them some late fees however they continue to punish me for their late fees, I am no longer in contact with the tenants so I can't even ask them for my money back, I have just been robbed of my money, don't let the same happen to you, STAY CLEAR OF THIS AGENCY, THEY ARE A RIP OFF, YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK IF YOU CHOOSE PURPLE FROG, BE WARNED THEY ARE THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, UNFRIENDLY, JOKE AGENTS I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS.

GoogleI heard bad things from purple frog but still went ahead with joining them anyway because they specialise in student homes.
However, today is the second day they have showed up to our house for a viewing without notice.
And the other day, on a viewing they left my door open when I had valuable things inside my room.
Disappointing service from the staff.

GoogleTerrible treatment. Enquired about a property, and was ready to put a deposit down but the man on the phone encouraged us to do a viewing before hand. Made a viewing but as I had been travelling across the country far too many times, I could not make it so asked my sister who was in Bristol to go. She got to the viewing, no one there, so I called up purple frog to see why no one was there and they just said to me "Oh the house is gone, sorry". Didn't even tell me in advance, seeing as we had a viewing. No one turned up. I could have just put the reservation down the day before and had the house! They were extremely rude with regards to sympathy and understanding, as well as following usual tenancy protocol such a blocked viewings and then giving all viewers and equal chance to get the property. NEVER book with purple frog.

Hi Angelina,
I'm the co-owner of Purple Frog and was actually present in the office during this incident.
The property was a new instruction and pretty much our only remaining on the market so had attracted high demand and we had accompanied many viewings during the day.
Firstly, my colleague Keith was inside the property accompanying another viewing. He was present at the time your sister should have arrived but waited around 10 minutes, at this stage he could wait no longer and had to move on to the next appointment.
At the time our office was contacted for guidance on how to locate the flat, the property had JUST been reserved over the phone by a group that arrived on the dot to their appointment. There is simply nothing we can do about this, we can only operate on a first come first serve basis, it is not fair to prejudice groups or individuals. Imagine if it had been them late and you had arrived and reserved it first? When your mum rang, our agent at the property didn't even know that the group had taken the flat and was still carrying out viewings (we hadn't been able to get through to him on the phone) so rather than let you falsely view it, we were transparent and honest and advised you of the situation.
At no point during the call did Alice become rude or aggressive, which the opposite of the person on the phone to us (I believe your mum) who was swearing and shouting continually. Alice was extremely apologetic.
We do not as a policy allow anyone to reserve or rent a room or flat without viewing it. We have an obligation for you to ensure you are happy with the property and that it matches your expectations based on our marketing material. When you enter into an agreement you let the property 'as seen', you have not seen it and therefore cannot rent, which is why you cannot reserve a property before viewing it.
I am disappointed you are leaving such a negative review for a situation totally out of our control. I appreciate you are frustrated at the situation but it is not our fault. There is HUGE demand in Bristol for accommodation and not enough of a supply and I feel your negativity about this is incorrectly targeted at us.
I hope you will consider removing this review as I do not feel it is fair.
I wish you all the best in finding suitable accommodation and sorry that we could not help.
Kind Regards,
Greg White
