AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! Worst letting agency throughout my 4 years of university. Please no students rent with purple frog.

Students and Parents of Nottingham Students, Avoid this Company At All Costs. This organisation advertises as being established by two University students who wish to ‘change student accommodation for the better and provide the service that tenants and landlords deserve’ This could not be further from the truth. What may have started with good intentions appears to now have become a cynical, greedy, shameless business who are exploiting students in the towns and cities in which they operate. My daughter has been a student at Nottingham Trent for the past 4 years, her final year, unfortunately, renting a property through Purple Frog. The property which has been let out is quite frankly, not fit for human habitation due to issues of severe damp, extreme mould growing on internal walls and water ingress through ceilings each time it rained. Along side these serious structural problems, we experienced large amounts of rubbish left in the property at the beginning of the tenancy, beds not fit for purpose throughout the entire tenancy along with many other problems experienced throughout the year. Whilst I believe all tenants and parents/guarantors of the tenants were polite, patient and understanding whilst trying to get all these issues resolved throughout the tenancy it quickly became apparent the Purple Frog operated in such a way to avoid addressing the issues in a satisfactory and timely manner. Whilst initially engaging with parents/guarantors with regards to the ongoing issues of damp, mould and leaking ceilings within the property, Purple Frog subsequently advised of a policy of refusing to liaise with parents/guarantors. As guarantor for my daughters tenancy, I would have expected communication between myself and Purple Frog to be open, welcome and honest. This was not the case and communication was avoided at all costs by Purple Frog, including along with, many other employees, the MD, Patrick Garratt. In desperation at the situation that my daughter was living in I did find it necessary to make contact with the local MP of Nottingham East to reach out for help and to make her aware of this company that are operating in her constituency. To add final insult to injury, despite the shocking experience we have endured throughout this tenancy, we have now had deposits retained along with further charges applied at the end of tenancy which include, along with others, charges for broken beds and rubbish left in the property, none of which are genuine. In my opinion, this company is operating to extract as much money as they can from students by letting out properties which are not fit for human habitation, by failing to pay for and address serious issues which are a risk to health and finally, fabricating charges to retain deposits at the end of tenancies. We are now challenging the deposit retainment through the Deposit Protection Scheme. Avoid this company at all costs.

My fiancé rented a house from Purple Frog with his five other housemates for two years. Throughout the duration of his tenancy, they would take a very long time to respond to emails or handle maintenance issues, be dishonest or misinform them on several occasions, regularly make major errors in basic arithmetic when calculating rent payments and generally just provide customer service so poor, it would be easier to build your own house from scratch. They caused a great deal of stress over the duration of the tenancy and I would highly recommend that you avoid any dealings with them at all costs.

If I could give minus stars I would - STUDENTS, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PREDATORY COMPANY. They kept my deposit in full, and now almost 10 years later they are trying to claim another £900 with no explanation and no evidence. I’ll be submitting a complaint to the ombudsman, amongst other official regulatory bodies - and I wonder if the media would like to know about such vampiric practices, preying on the young of society

If i could give 0 stars, I would. Purple Frog have major communication issues. Back and forth emails for weeks as they’d leave my emails unresponded. When i did receive a response, it wasn’t helpful - particularly from Beckie. I will say Michael helped me out the most but, even then, it was not substantial enough for a company that specifically works with students and deals with our money, they do not care about us enough. They are also very misinformed and basically told me that I would be receiving my deposit back from them through their deposit return scheme then later changing this to I had to deal with the return of my deposit on my own and talk to the landlord, myself and it was none of their problem, essentially. I will warn all future students, as soon as you sign please make sure you ask them how and who is protecting your deposit as I was never told this information and it caused me a lot more problems than it should have. As someone who had signed with them, this was upsetting to hear and also news to me. I had come to them with an issue and they weren’t forthcoming or even willing to help me with it, despite it being their job (in my opinion). No problem with the property we had signed on to or anything like that but if you’d like an agency that actually helps you deal with problems that may arise, especially in times of need, please avoid Purple Frog.

I recently had a viewing with Maddie, right from the start, she was super friendly and made me feel comfortable. She answered all my questions and really knew all the information about the place and the area. Maddie made the whole experience easy, stress free and enjoyable . She was patient and took the time to explain everything!! , which I really appreciated. She genuinely cared about helping me find the right place. I’m really excited about moving in !

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Beckie Roe, and she was nothing short of amazing! I was feeling incredibly distressed about sorting out my contract, but Beckie went above and beyond to help me through it. She was incredibly patient, even after I called her about 5 times (haha), and each time she answered all my questions with care and clarity. When things got difficult, she didn’t hesitate to go out of her way to find every possible solution, and thanks to her, my contract is now fully sorted. Without Beckie, I would still be stressed and struggling. I can’t recommend her enough! Thank you, Beckie!

My experience with purple frog has not been great after living in one of their properties for one year. When we moved into the place the house was unclean and in disrepair. There were rats living in the walls and kitchen, which were then taken care of by pest control a few months after moving in, leaving the smell of dead rat in the house for a while. The washing machine was broken and after quite a few weeks of not having one we finally got it repaired, and then pressed with charges if it were to break again. The dryer did not work, and yet again took a few weeks to replace. There were 3 hoovers in the property all of which didn’t work properly, until I repaired one. Mould was present in many of the rooms, and this wouldn’t be looked at until way into the tenancy. Trash was left in the front and back gardens from previous tenants that we cleaned up. The upstairs shower did not work well, and the lights did not work, leaving a house of 8 people to use one shower between them for a whole year. And all of this after we moved into the house a whole month after the listed starting date due to maintenance supposedly being done on the house. After all this we’ve been charged for cleaning on our deposits (after leaving the house in a much better condition than we got it) which we won’t dispute as we just want our remaining deposits back as they’ve already gone past their promised 28 days deposit return by 10 days.

Charlotte was so prompt in responding to my query. She not only responded but also gave me a link to view similar properties as the property I was interested in was no longer available. Thank you very much, Charlotte, for your professionalism.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Useless, no care for students. Lived in a mould ridden property with no care from their part. Delays of over two months to get our deposit, coupled with excuses that shift blame to the landlord, only highlight a lack of accountability on their part. It's disappointing when agents fail to advocate for their clients, leaving students feeling neglected and frustrated in an already challenging housing market.

Shockingly bad student property with mould, broken glass and frames of windows and broken electric sockets, broken manky furniture, smelly fridges that are rusted out and electrically non compliant with safety regulations... in Fishponds Road, sticky dirty carpets, rusty radiators (more rust than radiator!) the list goes on...... Purple Frog Bristol NEVER answer their phone and NEVER answer emails, they sent a maintenance man three weeks ago who made a long list and has now quit the company (there's a surprise'!). This property does not meet current regulations, is unsafe, filthy and disgustingly poor in every respect. PARENTS BEWARE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR STUDENT SON OR DAUGHTER TO WASTE MONEY ON THIS COMPANY!!!!
