AVOID!!!!

I was hoping to move out of a places for people property to another property with places for people. I went to view a house and before I even had chance to view the property, places for people had by that time already ended my tenancy, contacted my gas and electricity supplier to have my supply cut off even though I didn't agree to have the property I viewed. They went behind my back, accessed my personal information and jumped the band wagon leaving me in absolute distress. I suffer severe depression and having to cope with something like this has honestly made me feel like I'm worth nothing and also feel my privacy has been invaded I also had people turn up at my house viewing it while I still lived here and now I don't even feel safe living here with regards to how many people now know who lives at this property. My house isn't a home anymore. I don't even feel like I'm in control of anything anymore. I feel extremely violated and abused by places for people.

Haven’t found a home

I’ve been living in a 2 bedroom flat for the 13 years and 11 months with places for people, I’ve been asking for a 3 bedroom house since I had my son who is now 11 years old and I already have a 17 year old daughter they put me on a waiting list until they got rid of that system and now you apply for houses online. They told me to do a house swap but no one wants a tiny flat with 1 double room and 1 single. I’ve been told many times that it’s unacceptable for siblings of different sex to be sharing a room especially at their age, thankfully I noticed there was a 3 bedroom house right in my area I applied for it quickly however I’ve gotten no response and I asked them about it and they told me first come first serve however that house has been on the website for some days now and if someone has gotten it why hasn’t it been taken down? I’m so fraustrated because the house is literally one minute away from me and it’s not like I can’t afford it I just want to move into it so that my children can get their own room. This company makes everything so difficult and hell for people and families.

New build Edinburgh Shrubhill

Places for People are a total disgrace that just care about profit. We just moved into a new build property in Edinburgh that is literally still a building site. The building is half finished and the workmanship is incredibly poor. Broken floor boards, scratched glass on most of the windows, a blocked pipe in the en-suite that absolutely stinks, dodgy electrical wiring, cement encrusted onto the external windows, chunks and bashed in the skirting board in all of the bedrooms, paint left on the floor from when the walls were painted and a ridiculous heating system from insite energy that still isn't connected. Our property manager, Ayse Tarlaci, is absolutely uselss. We have reported many issues for repair to her and she has just ignored all our emails and more or less say you must sign the inventory despite disagreeing with it. A few weeks ago in heavy rain the ceiling in the common stairway caved in due to the heavy rain and clearly a defective downpipe that was causing the flooding. The emergency number Places for People provide is only "monday-Friday 9-5". This was a Saturday morning. So much for a 24/7 out of hours emergency number. Eventually found a number for Touchstone. The woman on the phone responded "I'll send someone round to place a wet floor sign." Ehhh I don't think you've quite grapsed the gravity of the situation, the ceiling has caved in and the water flooding the foor and you wish to send someone to place a wet floor sign?! They didn't even turn up to do that and over 1 month later the hole is still in the ceiling. Furthermore, our neighbours are constantly outside in their pyjamas smoking weed which then blows under our door and stinks the flat out. Ayse a actually replied to this email but stated it wasn't for her. If you actually look in the tenancy agreement Sections 21 & 36 it is the job of the property manager to respond to anti-social behaviour including "using, selling, growing, making or supplying unlawful drugs...". As per most other review on here, avoid places for people and find another HA because their service is absolutely disgraceful and they only care about grabbing the rent off of you!

Gestapo run, absolute disgrace

A terrible terrible social enterprise, there to assist but run it like the Gestapo. They do as they please break all rules and legislation, my client was treated terribly! Was promised the world and given nothing, was left with facial rashes from the mould but told to live with it, signed an asbestos agreement for the ceiling, it was all crumbling a way ( a real health hazard)but refused to deal with it. Only use if you have nowhere to go its slightly better than the street as your warmer but company is a disgrace and should be shut down.

Anti Social Behaviour

It took them months,to get around to my problem. When they did at last look at the problem, they did nothing about it at all. The so-called tenancy officer visited the bad tenant. She just sat and had a cup of tea with her, told her not to be naughty and left. That was it,I and the other neighbours tried to get them to take action.nothing! They don"t even reply to the letters,we sent. My experience,is they are totally arrogant and could"nt care less about the tenants,as long as your rent is paid.I moved earlier this year, what a relief.good riddance. I just feel sorry for the other tenants.

Beware of this compan

Beware of this company i reserved a house with them on an early bird and then they changed the incentives at the last minute. There had been a lot of interest in our plot and they tried to swap us to a plot that they were unable to sell. They market themselves as different from the rest and that they want to help you get your dream house. I felt sorry for the sales staff who you could tell didn't agree with what they were doing but had no choice.

I'd give them 0 stars if I could

I'd give them 0 stars if I could. We bought a flat in 2003 which was leasehold through Places for People. The monthly service charge was £40, this included building insurance, landscaping, general maintenance and cleaning of the stairwell for 6 flats (each flat pay this charge). By 2017 the monthly service charge went up to £117 for each flat! Bare in mind our flat was on a run down council estate 6 miles from Leeds, so it's no posh area. The gardeners turned up about every 2 months, cut the grass then blew leaves around. The cleaners came every 2 weeks If that, quickly dusted the stairwell and never vacuumed the top floor as their cord wouldn't reach! Lots of maintenance needed doing and all we were told was there is a big pot of money to replace all windows etc, fix locks, replace fencing, fix guttering and this never got done in the whole 14 years we were there. Each year they said next year It's all getting done. It's a shambles of a company and they rip people off! We eventually sold our flat for £50,000 but really it was worth £70,000 plus! But no one wanted to buy it with the high service charge that kept rising yearly. I heard now it's £124 A month now. I felt so sorry for the people buying our flat, we fought against Places for People for years, along with the other flat owners. Their employees are rude and lazy. Never buy a flat or house from this company! Stay away! They are also partners with another company called RMG

If you want a damaged property that never gets fixed these are your guys!

We have received nothing but shocking customer service from Places for People. The call centre staff are very rude, continue to talk to other staff while you are speaking. They terminate calls to disregard your issue and do not process requests when requested. We are still awaiting repairs from 4 years ago which has caused excess damage to the property and our personal items. We have had to pay out on numerous occasions to redecorate the property which continues to regress back to its damaged stage. Even with two very smallChildren (both with serious health conditions) they still have no will power to resolve any issues. How this company won best Landlord of 2014 is beyond me!! It’s no wonder they still plaster this all over their vans as their is little chance they would ever receive that title again.

I would give 0 stars if that was an option, you don't turn up to appointments at the correct time, then you decide ro cap the gas leaving us un the freezing cold all night with a young child with no heating and nothing to cook on as we have a gas cooker, if you did your job and turn up when you give ys the correct time you would have got access, some people work and when you arrange a time we ecpect yoh to turn up unless you advise otherwise.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Used to be a good HA but has become terrible. Repairs are booked in but they call on the morning of said repair and cancel that's if you are lucky enough to get contact from them at all. Been in my house for 23 year's then I receive a letter threatening to evict me over a huge 4p owing on my rent. I have no plaster on my walls with brickwork showing, concrete flooring after they pulled up my real wood flooring, my sink is out in the back garden waiting to be put back in and they've taken out kitchen unit's only leaving me with 2 which I had to put the handles and doors on myself.I'm a disabled lady living by myself and find this a disgrace!AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Diabolical. Moved me, my husband and two babies into a home full of rising damp, floors crumbling, cupboards falling apart and freezing cold. Rang a repairs line I was given for the leak in the kitchen and was told “if it’s not flooding the house then there’s nothing we can do”

Absolutely horrible

Absolutely horrible! Avoid at all costs! Their customer service is disgusting! I could go on and on forever about everything wrong with places for people but i’d be here for days. I’m blind and despite moving into my home two and half years ago, I was promised a fence for my garden (which had no fence as someone stole it... classy) if I signed the papers under the agreement that I’d wait no longer than two weeks for a fence. HA! Two and half years later, nultiple phone calls and cancelled appointments on their part and I was still without a fence. I’m now waiting for a guide dog and have been told I can’t have one with a fenced garden. Places for people didn’t care at all. They told me I’d have to wait six months. I threatened going to the papers where my uncle works for them to finally agree to fix it... the next day! It took an hour, that’s all. Was it really needed to cause this much of a fuss over it? Morons! I wrote asking for permission to own a guide dog which was something else I had to do before getting my dog. I got a letter back saying I could have one under the condition I had no more pets. I was very confused as next door to me has for dogs and the other side of me has three. I rang them and ask why and spoke to a manager who said ‘if you only need a guide dog right now and don’t have another pet then I don’t see why your complaining. If you have another pet then complain to us then’ are you kidding me!? For starters a guide dog isn’t a pet dog, it’s a mobility aid. They are so rude. Today I spoke to them about an electrical appointment I had booked in for tomorrow, they were so rude on the phone and the woman I spoke to just kept talking over me. She hung up on me, raised her voice and told me she didn’t care. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me I had to wait two days and no manager was available, I asked how that was even possible and she kept repeating ‘wait two working days. Wait two working days. Wait two working days’ and kept repeating this over everything I said. Wow! Fantastic customer service. I called back and spoke to someone else who said a manager was available and to call back in a hour. How can they lie like that? I’ve been reporting my bathroom sink for six months as the taps don’t work, I’ve had four appointments and every single one has ether been cancelled without any explaination other than ‘we had an emergency’ or they just simply haven’t turned up! I had been over paying my rent every week and had £420 in credit, when I realised I rang them and asked for a rebate, I thought it would be simple but HA! I was told I couldn’t get my money back because ‘they liked to see my account in credit’ I asked to speak to a manager and they told me I could get my money back. I waited weeks and heard nothing so I rang them back again, this time again, I was told I couldn’t because ‘they were afraid my account would be in debt if I missed a payment’ despite never missing a payment ever! I’ve never once been late! I’m usually early! I had to fight to get my money back and I only got half of it. I’m trying everything I can to move away and leave them for good. Every single time you need to contact them be prepared for a fight because that’s what your going to get. I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy.

The people are as bad as it gets

The people are as bad as it gets, they hang up if they don't have an answer, they allow sirens on their properties run for DAYS, they rig the out-of-hours emergency phone line so they don't have to take calls - Literally "queue position 2" for an hour and over 100 calls. I hope they die in a fire because the person they call cares as little as they do to bother to pick up the phone.

Booked a repair and guess what stayed in 5 hours and they didn't even come out. I complained online someone called me 2 days later and said some nonsense about the phone number of which she had just used to contact me talk about stupid.Their properties are getting old now and badly built but you'd think they could organise themselves they'd sharp shout with any rent arrears.Several things wrong with the property worse dripping tap when moved in the agents will let even if its dirty and needs paint to keep the profits rolling in. Finish and trims not done and heating inadequate and damp will look for someplace else soon.
