Poor Communication Post-Sale

Barratts were easy to get in touch with, almost pushy (to an extent) throughout the sale. After the sale has gone through, it is near-on impossible to make contact with anyone; site managers have changed over and communication has been poor in relation to our snagging list, the Sales Advisor has ignored emails and the Customer Service team has failed to respond to a call from us too. We didn’t receive our keys until 15:30 on the day of purchase due to Barratts payment system, however they demanded the keys to my old property by 17:00 anyway (due to part-exchange) even though we had three lorry loads to transport/unpack. This resulted in a heated conversation during an already stressful day, whereby they eventually agreed to allow us to drop the previous keys off the following morning. In addition, the quality of the build is not as good as my previous Barratts property; our snagging list is long with the main problem being the grass due to mistakes they made when laying the turf. At the time, Barratts offered to pay our first few weeks of water bills due to the need for us to water the dead grass, and if this did not improve, re-lay the entire back garden; since this promise, we have failed to be able to get in touch with anyone to discuss.

Great experience from start to finish…

Great experience from start to finish and the aftercare team can't do enough, credit to the team at Poppy Fields in the West Midlands. The sales team took care of everything for us and answered all our questions and concerns, they couldn't do enough for us, it made the buying process stress free. We have moved into our new home and the finish and quality is outstanding, if there are any issues that do pop up, they are dealt with very quickly. Massive thank you to the Barratt Team

Rubbish Customer Service

After almost two years of being in the property, I am still dealing with issues related to poor workmanship and/or poor materials. External electrical socket fell apart yesterday (had cracked along top and front fell off when I lifted it) - when I registered the issue, I was told that it wasn’t covered because all issues had to be reported within 72 hours of moving in!!! How does that work, when after 18 months a socket of poor quality falls apart, and now I am left footing the bill to pay for an electrician to come and replace the cheap one.

If I could give Barratts at Chilmington…

If I could give Barratts at Chilmington 0 stars I would. The aftercare is disgusting! We have been left with mould in our en suite and they say new homes always get mould! What an answer! They lie! Do not trust them. Customer care - absolutely dreadful as well as the supervisors they talk as though they are politicians, skirt around the problem, do not give you straight answers and was their hands with you when the mould is a design flaw! Please do not buy from Barratts. The what's app group from the area is full of complaints and issues, no one is happy. The reply below, they did not sort the issue and have said mould is out of their hands! Even though it is only two years old and their design issue. Their advice is to wipe the ceiling after every shower. Just highlights how bad their aftercare is! Disgusting!
