GoogleWe found the process with Neilsons to be consistently poor. Nothing happened until the last minute which nearly created a delay. By their own admission they are under staffed and after speaking with friends it turns out our experience is not unique. I would not recommend the service. Neilsons also send over a budget planner and on the four occasions they sent it over there were numerous errors in it. Sometimes for considerable amounts of money.

GoogleI chose Neilsons partly because of their very competitive costs, but also because they offered an integrated service using their own in-house legal team. Helpful too was that they required no upfront outlays or fees. From the initial valuation through to the completion of missives, the service I received was simply faultless. Staff were extremely efficient, friendly and engaging. I felt at all times that my interest was their priority and that they wanted not only the best result for me, but for me to have the best experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better agency to market my property and I can wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend Neilsons to you. Thanks to Kevin, Megan, Pauline and Lorna, and to all the other staff members who, with warmth and courtesy, helped take my sale to a very smooth and successful conclusion.

GoogleI’ve been working with Anne at Neilsons on the Scottish side of my property purchase while also selling in England, and she has been fantastic throughout. She’s been patient, clear, and very supportive in helping me understand the differences between the English and Scottish systems, especially where timings and risks don’t quite align. Anne always responds promptly, explains things in a way that makes sense, and has given me real confidence during what could otherwise have been a very stressful process. Anne also managed the pressure from the Scottish seller’s solicitors extremely well, keeping them informed and making sure my purchase was never at risk of falling through due to the differing timelines between missives in Scotland and contract exchange in England. The estimated budget planner provided at the start reflected the actual costs at the end, which was really reassuring. Other colleagues I dealt with at the firm were also excellent - Kara covered for Anne while she was on leave and was prompt and supportive in her responses, ensuring my purchase kept progressing. Sarah was very helpful too, finding solutions quickly when the bank delayed providing a statement. I really appreciate the way Anne kept me updated and coordinated with my English solicitor, making sure nothing fell through the gaps. I would highly recommend Anne and Neilsons to anyone looking for a reliable, professional, and approachable solicitor in Scotland

Very poor communication, miscalculation of due taxes, not paying Revenue Scotland within the 30 day period resulting in Revenue Scotland sending us penalty notice and fine. Just some of the issues. Others have had similar issues and interestingly the negative reviews are mostly recent. Has something gone very wrong with this company in past few months? I would never use again

The sales team at the Corstorphine branch were incredibly helpful and informative, as were all the staff I dealt with in the office. The receptionist at the front desk also was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the conveyancing side of things was a much different story. If you want the stress and cost of having to engage your lawyer and solicitor, plus checking and for the many mistakes they made, and trying to get them to communicate and keep you informed of delays and updates, then these are the guys for you. I believe they had to sack the head of conveyancing around May of 2025, which caused problems. The current head means well, but his 40 years of experience still led to major mistakes and nothing short of incompetence. I travelled from Australia to Corstorphine to deal with these issues as I was selling my late father's house on Drumbrae South. Even at settlement the money from the sale was sent to my own excellent legal team at Glenorchy House to sort out was wrong. They transferred to much money to my own solicitor, then didn't answer her emails. They had to contact another person at Neilsons they had dealt with before to sort it out. As too much money doesn't balance the books, this added yet another 3 weeks delay to a simple sale. The original sale was supposed to be settled on the 20th of June 2025. It was the 30th of July 2025 when it was signed off by both solicitors, then four more weeks of delays due to the transfer of funds being incorrect. Yes, people make mistakes, but this many. I also have a paralegal cousin help me wade through the documentation and advise me on the best course of action. This was not a good experience for me or my family to deal with. I would give sales 10/10, but the conveyancing team let the rest of the team down very badly.

I couldn’t recommend him enough he truly went above and beyond for myself and my family. His communication and understanding of his job is admirable. GoogleFollowing the loss of my parents, in March 2023, Neilsons were contracted to complete the necessary administration of their estate and on joining the company in August 2023, Ramune Gilfillan was assigned to the contract and communications have been dealt with by her in the ensuing year and a half. I am genuinely grateful to Ramune for her patience and tenacity dealing with the various government, finance and utility companies, some of whom have been truly awful companies with the most appalling customer service. I have enjoyed our correspondence course including many telephone calls over this time and appreciated her ability in eventually concluding the various matters successfully. Although grateful and relieved to be at the end of the process I shall miss dealing with Ramune who has been very supportive throughout and I feel she has become a friend. Many thanks for all your endeavours during this time and I would recommend Ramune for anyone requiring assistance with executory estate administration.
