My friend bought his home just over a year ago. The finish on most of the house is poor for example: taps have been connected the wrong way round ie cold/hot - door latches do not catch the door keep, cracks in widow frames - screws on staircase rail different and not screwed in - radiator touching door - broken tiles on roof - marks on front door - outside wooden panel broken - garden not rotovated as promised- leak on soil stack - dead trees planted dead shrubs (that’s just to mention just a few)

Crocus Fields, Saffron Walden

Currently purchasing a new home at Crocus Fields, Saffron Walden. During the purchasing process so far the dealings with the staff and David in particular at the show house have been extremely helpful and have been in contact with us keeping us informed of the progress of our purchase. Cannot fault David. Just have one slight area of concern at the time of writing this review and the build QC. The canopy over the front door and roof of the bay window are out of alignment, but David is on the case and hopefully we will not have an issues with anything else.UPDATE:Having taken ownership of the property on the first time of running the washing machine in the Utility room we had a water leak that soaked the carpet in the adjacent hallway and damaged the door and skirting board. The carpet was ripped up by the on-site staff and left to dry. 8 weeks later we are still waiting for the carpet top be refitted. If only it was that. After one week of moving in you are requested to submit a snagging list. That seems a remarkably small amount of time from past experience, but we did and to quote the site manager, "this is a sensible list and not over the top".To date the tilers came and made good two tiles not in place correctly and a hole in another, the decorator painted items missed. I am sure the plasterer would not have visited had I not been talking to the site manager at the time he stopped in ask for instructions what he was to do, but that is it!When contacting Abbey you are meet with silence. I suppose they hope we will go away, but not whilst I have 5 holes in the wall created by the electrician who had to cut them in order to replace a broken cable for the BT engineer on their side.Like so many on this development trying to get things sorted is proving to be a nightmare. We really do not appreciate having a carpet not properly fitted in a high access area and just hope that nobody falls over it or it will be taken a lot higher that just Abbey Homes.

New Home

We have lived in our new home over a week now and it has been great. The house itself has been built brilliantly. With all new houses there are a few snags here and there, but all minor and have been rectified within a few days. Dean the site manager who is a lovely guy, has swiftly made sure everything is to our satisfaction and has constantly been available throughout our moving in process, as well as answering all of our questions. Michelle at the Abbey New Homes office was so lovely and friendly and made us feel very comfortable. She gave us all the information we needed and asked for, not only when we came to enquire but throughout the whole purchasing process. This is our first home and has been a great experience. We would highly recommend this company for anyone who would like to buy a new build house.

Brilliant snagging service at Imperial Gardens

Purchased our first home from Abbey around 6 months ago. Sales process was smooth and we had great service from Sara in helping us choose the best plot for us. The snagging process was excellent and conducted brilliantly by Simon the site manager. What a disgrace of a company. Selling brand new properties with known defects to the roof membrane and think sticking a bit of tape on it is sufficient. Do not touch plot 73 at Crocus Fields and probably any of their properties. Disgraceful behaviour from all involved.I have never and will never buy one of their properties even though they seem to believe I have. Don’t touch them. Cowboys

Had a walk through today. What a soulless place. New houses looking onto electricity sub station ,or across the way looking into a flood trench. Area needs tidying up. Overgrown and untidy. The houses look nice. Deserve better vistas for the money.
