I was recommended to John Hilton by a friend when I was lamenting the quality of other agents I'd met to sell my home. I'm so glad I was, as I met Tom Coffey who from day one was a pleasure to work with. Tom is thorough, knowledgeable and friendly. He gave great advice, was quick to reply/update at every stage and easy to talk to. The house was sold quickly at a good price with everything panning out as we'd discussed (give or take a few teeny things that seem to always happen). Tom also showed me a few properties to buy and his depth of knowledge for each property was impressive, plus he knew what I'd like and not like! The whole team at John Hiltons are fab, all very helpful and know what's going on at all times. I can highly recommend them for both buying and selling a property! with an equally impressive team around him. Everything from the valuation, photos, text and of course viewings was easy and quick.

I have used John Hilton to manage student rental properties in Brighton now for over 15 years .As someone who has personally paid for my children to live in such properties in three different cities across the UK I know, from the other side, how important it is for tenants and their parents and guarantors to have full confidence in the professionalism and commitment of the agents managing the interface between the tenants and the landlord . I have no hesitation in stating the Hiltons are such a Company , that their commitment to the interests of both the tenants and landlord is first class, and that they are particularly experienced and adept at dealing with the inevitable issues that will crop up in the normal ebb and flow of student rental property life . Over the years I have been fortunate to benefit from the professionalism and experience of Jo Ann Stafford , the senior manager , and in recent years from Kimberly who is an outstanding student house manager . As an experienced landlord who has student rental properties in both Manchester and Brighton I have no hesitation in recommending the firm , and Jo Ann and Kimberly in particular without any reservation .

We went with John Hilton for both our sale and purchase and everything has been great from start to finish. Our contact was Simon throughout the process. For our sale, the photo shoot for the website was arranged within 2 days, and the listing was live before we knew it. We were lucky, the first viewer became our buyer, so the whole process took about 8 weeks to complete. Simon was in constant communication with all parties and never lost his cool even when things got a bit complicated. He made sure we all made it to completion before being hit by stamp duty increase. I think John Hiltons must have been put on this earth specifically to dispel all the myths and stereotypes about estate agents. When dealing with estate agents in the past I've always got on ok with them, but never felt I could 100% trust them and always felt they came across a little corporate, and not always entirely genuine. Not the case with John Hiltons. When dealing with Tom and his colleagues I always felt I was talking to a human being, without that slight corporate disconnect, and that there was no agenda other than just helping the transaction to proceed as smoothly as possible. Tom was more than happy to spend time explaining how the process works to me, and I never felt like I was imposing. He was always friendly and cheerful in interactions, and even spent a fair amount of time talking to me about my renovation plans for the house, giving me some really good ideas and acting as a sounding board for my my thoughts. Not to mention keeping me sane at various stressful points, along with his colleagues Alex and Simon. The company director Marius even stepped in at one point to help me understand a particular building restriction on the property that the solicitors had identified. I would not hesitate to recommend John Hiltons to others (in fact I would advise people to go out of their way to use them over other agents!) and will definitely use them if I ever sell a property.

Marius Foster and his team at John Hilton Estate Agents sold a six-bedroom house for me in November of 2024. The house is a student residence, and thus it was mostly of interest to professional investors. I have been an investor in Brighton-and-Hove property since 1995, and I have sold similar properties before with other local Estate Agents. I was very impressed by Marius and his team. Marius was extremely straightforward and savvy when we discussed pricing and strategy. Also, his views and suggestions were always based on extensive knowledge or recent sales of properties similar to mine, so I was able to make well-informed choices. I also received excellent advice during the course of negotiations. In addition to the price of the house, there were negotiations about a large and unexpected government fee, and about the possible additional sale of an expensive item that was on the property, but not part of the house. Marius handled these negotiations expertly, and with his advice, I was tougher in the negotiations than I would otherwise have been. The result, at the end of the day, was thousands of pounds extra in my pocket, and a secure feeling that I had made about the best deal that was possible, given the state of the market at the time of the sale. Furthermore, Marius eased my administrative burden by handling the sale and the transfer of funds for the expensive extra item though his own office, which made it effortless for me. For this additional service, I was charged exactly nothing. 😊 Needless to say, I would definitely return to John Hilton Estate Agents if I decided to sell another property, and I will be recommending Marius and his team to friends and colleagues.

Ah what can we say... Working with Tom from John Hiltons has been beyond a pleasure to sell our property. He's the perfect balance of personable, lovely, good humoured and attentive whilst also being highly professional and always 'on-it'. The moment we met him we were so impressed with how he took the time to understand all of the details of our property. When he undertook viewings he took as long as was needed, some potential buyers wanted to spend much longer than you'd expect at the viewings to really get a feel for the home. Over an hour in some cases!... horrible viewing and application process system. my friends and i viewed a property, and not only was the woman showing us around extremely rude and made comments, she also said racist comments when asked about how international students could pay rent. Additionally, when we called to put a deposit down on a different house, they gave the applications to another group despite us calling in first and ready to put down a deposit, when asked why they didnt send us an application they didnt have an answer, we were left for hours without an application. Awful experience and extremely rude. If I could give 0 stars i would.
