I find John a pleasure to deal with, they are real people. In a real office, the name of the office is of a REAL person there. I have noticed a lot of agencies make up English sounding names, but nobody with those names actually works there! Very good to deal with, I highly recommend them...

I am a landlord and used this agency to let me flat out. After a year they told me I would make lots more money by selling my flat,.. so I agreed to them acting as a an agent to sell my flat. I asked my tenants to vacate the flat. However, it has now been 6 months,and my flat still hasn't been sold and the agency keeps asking me for more money. I have already lost £8.000. I have found out that this agency is desperate for money,as their business is failing,and will do absolutely anything to get money. It's a disgrace,and am thinking of reporting them.

The review below by 'James Hansen' is clearly malicious spam. In my experience, the opposite is true in every respect - this is a first class indie agent. John Horton and his dedicated team work very hard in a highly competitive market to achieve optimum results in both sales and lettings. Unusually good client relations with none of the corporate double speak you get with the uncaring bigger chains.

I rented my flat via Horton & Garton, and paid for credit check £50, contract £250, agency fees £120. When I paid my rent an deposit by credit card, they also charged me 7% fee, which was £420. When I complained I was shouted at and threatened. They had seemed very friendly to start with,but after the money exchanged hands, the tone changed. I would advice anybody not to use this agency, they are extremely unprofessional and extremely rude.

John Horton inspires a great deal of confidence when he visits a property. He devotes a lot of time to the first meeting, is full of ideas and is clearly committed to his work. I was informed about every viewing in advance and provided with useful feedback. His rates are extremely reasonable and the staff are very efficient and communicate well. They strike just the right balance between friendliness and professionalism.It is good to support a local, independent business.

A Professional, friendly Estate Agents who will go above and beyond to help! My husband and I bought our home with John Horton over 9 years ago. When we finally moved back to Australia in 2010, we went back to John for help! He rented and managed the flat for us over several years before Horton and Garton sold it for us last year without any issues. We had complete confidence in them and they provided us with 'piece of mind' - especially as we were living on the other side of the world! It has been a pleasure dealing with them!!

If asked to list the least trusted business groups on earth, estate agents would be up there with loan sharks, politicians and second hand car dealers. But my experience with Horton and Garton has made me rethink the conventional wisdom. At every stage in selling our house the company has shown a high level of professionalism and integrity. They appointed Martin to look after our sale from valuation to exchange of contracts. He did an excellent job. The company’s local knowledge meant that the property was valued accurately. They presented the property to the buyers clearly, no over inflated claims. And most important, they were able to call on a large group of genuine buyers almost immediately the house went on the market. Within ten days the house had been sold. Perhaps most impressive, they did not stop looking after our interests once the buyer had been found. They have helped us move the sale to exchange by acting as a genuine honest broker during the entire process. Thank you Horton and Garton.
