TrustpilotGreat Purchase Experience with Harron Homes
Just completed everything for a great property in Amberwood Chase, Dewsbury. What a fantastic experience. The whole team on site from the site manager and his hard working team to the guys in the sales office to the wonderful Jane & Steph in the Show home. Brilliant customer service all round! All have been super responsive, helpful, courteous and committed in landing the completion within a tough time frame but they have all delivered! Weekly emails with progress updates, phone calls to check everything OK and visits to site being a really pleasant experience.I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Harron Homes or the team in Dewsbury!

TrustpilotRoyal Wells Park, Crofton
First experience of a new build.... Lovely Sandra in Sales was very informative and things went smoothly initially, although completion dates jumped around for the latter 8months. A few issues picked up with the solicitor in terms of the private road, street lighting etc and the Sales Manager not very understanding, v abrupt and then refused to take my calls upon deposit date and sent me a shocking email to go somewhere else - terrible experience!! Once moved in, we do love the house, and it would be perfect with the exception of the plastering. Not one room in the house is 'ok'. The original site manager was soon moved on to a different site, and didn't address any issues we had. A new site manager, Matt Bradwell has taken over and since his arrival, the issues have been addressed quickly and without question. He has been fantastic, extremely understanding and made things happen. Matt has been there to help with anything - even washing down the walls in the hall at 4pm after the plasterers again let us down and left it in a huge mess!! Matt is 100% customer focused, and intent that we are happy, along with our neighbours, and we're just thankful he joined the Crofton Site as almost all snags completed and in time for Xmas. The Ground workers and other trades have been fantastic too. So all in all, a rough and upsetting hand over, but now v happy customers!

Trustpilot1 year after moving in to our home
1 year after moving in to our home I just want to say that buying our home at amberwood Chase was the best decision we ever made.Being from the industry we were under no illusion of the potential problems with new builds but I can honestly say the sales and site staff have been amazing throughout and we love our home.

TrustpilotHonest Review
Please think very carefully before buying a Harron. We eventually moved into our dream home in July 2016 after a long delay. Fabulous design, decent sized garden and wonderful location. But that's where it ends, the dream quickly became a nightmare which we are still living nearly 3 and a half years later. To cut a very very long and stressful story short we are 3 years and 4 months into a battle to get our issues put right. Our defects are far too many to mention I can't even remember them all, but they range from the minor unpainted surfaces and chipped woodwork to major defects like, leaks, missing insulation, unsafe retaining walls, draughts, wrongly fitted roof, missing radiators. The list goes on and on.Harron homes will do everything in their power to not fix your issues or fix them as cheaply as they can. This results in such poor work it usually needs to be rectified, and the battle begins again. No one from Harron supervises this work, you have to.The customer care is at worse non existent, at best very poor. They ignore, ignore, ignore you. Don't return calls or emails. Then when you do scream loud enough to be heard they bully you. I have had to resort to getting my local MP involved and bombarding the MD with emails to be heard. It sometimes gets you a response but usually it's very short lived. Constantly deliberately being a nuisance is embarrassing, time consuming demoralising. All I want is what I paid for but I am having to fight for it and compromise every step of the way. It has been the most stressful time of my life and a lot of my spare time is now taken up dealing with these issues, chasing Harron and investigating my rights. I am usually a strong person but Harron homes have broken me numerous times. It amazes me how they sleep at night but maybe their massive bonuses help. Me however, I'm left with a defective home and nowhere to turn. Please don't be fooled my experience is by no means an isolated case. And do they care what they have put me and many others through? No they do not. Rather than trying to right their wrongs they focus their time on trying to hide these reviews!I have read some of the positive reviews on here..... I strongly suspect they have been written by Harron themselves. I also wonder why their facebook page doesn't show comments?

TrustpilotAmberwood Chase - fantastic site team!
We are currently buying plot 77 At Amberwood Chase and the site office of Jane & Steph have been absolutely brilliant throughout. We are now close to exchange after a really tough process with our chain and Jane has been very helpful with the various snags we have encountered. They have been on the ball but not pressured us but have been genuinely helpful and they are both a credit to Harron. We look forward to completing and owe a massive thanks to them both.

TrustpilotWorst home builder of them all
Rudest, most ignorant, incompetent builder I’ve ever bought from. When I bought from Harron it was my fourth new build from my fourth builder and they are by far the worst!Even a double page spread in the Guardian didn’t elicit a response to my multiple snags. These included:1. No cavity insulation2. A sloped landing 3. Yellow foam which spilled out and hardened against the brickwork from roof to ground4. Incorrectly fitted roof5. Incorrect garden gradient than was advertised 6. 60 minor snagsOver 2 years we:1. Wrote several letters2. Emailed well over 50 times3. Called uncountable times4. Created a Guardian article about consumer rights5. Tried to arrange our own resolution by contacting Harron suppliers All of which went unanswered or worse still resulted in false promises and missed timescales. I would trust a politician over a Harron employee any day of the week.AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

TrustpilotIs moving home really the most stressful time of your life? No, the 3 years of hell afterwards will be!
Firstly, it's important that this review is balanced; I don't want it to come across that I am just a bitter customer, so I will list everything that is good about Harron Homes first. It won’t take long. So, what are Harron Homes good at? Selling, marketing, promising (very different from delivering on those promises though). Some of their locations are very good and, aesthetically, their house designs are better than your average Bovis, TW, Persimmon, Barratt etc. But looks can be deceiving. And now for the not so good….. Don't expect to move in anywhere near the completion date, unless that is supposed to be December so they can boost their Year End statement of financial position and their bonuses. We were 6 months late (23rd of December and rushed into a barely finished house along with 7 other which meant the day was manic) and I understand that delay to be about average. They have no concept of customer service. You can email and phone 50 times a day and they will never call you back. Easiest thing is to say you will wait on hold. We were erroneously copied into an internal email where they referred to “only responding to the screamers”. Obviously I never complained enough to them or maybe I would have got more attention.Unfortunately, like most big house builders who have grown too quickly to keep true to their roots, they only care about margin and quality has gone out of the window - the cheapest materials possible and with sub-sub-contractors on ‘piece work’ they will rattle through without any QC. That might be harsh and there may well be some QC, but if so their standards are non-existent. It seems like they'd rather just get you in (get your money!) and then fix the snags later. I stopped learning the names of the Site Managers as they came and went too quickly, either fired or they quit.We had around 200 snags on moving in. A lot of this was relatively minor and I ended up doing stuff myself and have not bothered mentioning that stuff here, but there were some quite significant issues that are still ongoing today some 3 years later. Their approach is to wear you down and ignore you hoping you will give up. Unfortunately I fear that this tactic works with so many people that they do it maliciously and arrogantly (read back to the internal email we were mistakenly copied in to about “screamers”). They will also try to pass off responsibility to their sub-contractors, but remember that your contract is with Harron so the responsibility is with them.About 50 of the 84 houses on our site still require the roofs to be re-done. They used cheap tiles that were not fit for purpose and were not fit correctly to specification. Harron didn’t pay the sub-contractor and they subsequently went out of business (although I expect the standard of the roofing companies’ work to be the main reason behind that). We were given a date of Friday 9 September 2017 for ours to start to be fixed only for that date to be cancelled and us still not know over 2 years later when or if it will be done. That said, they spent 6 moths of that time trying to get out of it only to be directed by the LABC to do them. I expect the delay is down to cash flow as there is no reasonable reason why this has taken so long.We are missing stone cills from the rear of our property as apparently the plans changed just before our house started being built, yet under the Consumer Code I should have been informed of this change but never was. Harron are asking me to prove I was never informed rather than them prove I was informed!? Strange. Of the 84 houses, 6 of us are in this position which just looks odd next to the other houses, moreover, some have them downstairs, but not upstairs whilst some have them upstairs, but not downstairs. Strange plans.... That said, one house has had them retro-fit, but the rest of us are being ignored on it.They have only just finished the road surfacing, 4 years after the first occupants moved into their houses. You expect to live on a building site for a short while but there was no reason whatsoever for them not to have finished this when the last house was built and occupied over 18 months previously. Again, cash flow probably the influencing factor. Most of our neighbours have insulation missing from their cavity walls (either Kingspan or pumped in). Our bay window/living room and upstairs bedroom above that are considerably colder than the rest of the house, but they refuse to acknowledge this. They have acknowledged this for some of our neighbours though. Similarly, our Central Heating system was installed incorrectly so the heating came on whenever the hot water did, they tried to tell me that was frost protection in the system…. 5 or 6 plumber visits before this was acknowledged yet many of our neighbours had also complained about the same thing. Speaking to your neighbours and applying collective pressure is key. Many of the faults will be the same (although getting them to acknowledge that will not happen). But we are relatively lucky. The worst case on our estate - one family had to move out for 6 months whilst they gutted and rebuilt a house that was literally falling down. 6 months bouncing between hotels and short term rentals was incredibly turbulent for that family and I thank our lucky stars we are not in that position. In all seriousness, if you feel you can put up with this kind of treatment and will go ahead to make the biggest financial commitment of your life then spend a few extra quid and pay for a professional snagging company and get your solicitor to add in a hold-back to the completion payment. Also be prepared to harass the LABC (Harron have already moved on from the NHBC, and I wonder why?). To do that you will need to keep records of every email and phone call and get as much as you can in writing because to unpick the years of hassle afterwards you will need it.The real crime here is the fact you get more consumer protection buying a fake knock-off copy of something from China on eBay than you do spending hundreds of thousands £s buying a house. Harron, like other house builders, are just exploiting that.

TrustpilotLavender Fold Mapplewell
As this is the first time we have bought a new build iI wanted to share our experience of buying a property through harron homes. We decided to visit the site one afternoon (July) with the intention of looking at their Windsor house type. Once there we were really taken with the Buxton style and went away to mull over our options. Having thought of nothing else all week we returned that weekend to look at the Buxton again. Sharon in the sales office discussed our options and we decided to part exchange my property in order to reserve our plot. We were so excited and a little overwhelmed as things progressed quickly with an exchange date anticipated for a little over 6 weeks later. Unfortunately this did not happen for various reasons however the then part exchange manager Lee was brilliant and helped us exchange a little over a week later. We were given an anticipated completion date of 27th September however issues with our boundary did put a damper on things and we were disappointed to lose a small section of land which had been on our boundary line plans when we first reserved. This wasn’t fully resolved until 3 weeks after we had moved in when the fence was finally moved. In spite of this our excitement for our plot never wavered. We absolutely loved the house from the start, visiting on a weekly basis to check on the progress. As our completion date neared the CML hadn’t been signed off and consequently our completion date was delayed. Sharon was fantastic in helping us secure a completion date for the following Friday 4th October. This was the best date for us with work and for help with the move. We have now been in the property 6 weeks and love it more each day. We do have outstanding snags [ less than 10] and no house is or will ever be built perfectly. Our site managers Warwick and Andy have both been brilliant in arranging for the lads to come and carry out the snagging repairs and for letting us know if an appointment cannot be met. As we work full time we rely heavily on others been in the house for the work to be carried out. I have never been unable to contact them and every snag carried out so far has been done to a high standard. The decoration repairs carried out by Pete have been fantastic he picked up on snags I had missed and repaired ones that weren’t on the list I had given him. We did have an issue with our drains blocking affecting the shower/toilet but this was resolved that same day the lads spent 2 hours sorting it for us and we haven’t had any issues since. Whilst I do have bigger snags that need addressing I am confident they will all be resolved soon. I did over pay in my options when purchasing my choices of Lino. Eileen sorted this for me with harrons head office and I receive the refund a few weeks later. i am waiting for the 500.00 retention fee to be returned to me following the sign off of the part exchange which I am now currently chasing and hope to receive shortly. Whilst we have had little disappointments along the way the positives far exceed them and we are so glad we made the decision to move to mapplewell and purchase a harron homes property. Sarah & Luke

TrustpilotRoyal Wells Park - Crofton
We moved onto the Royal Wells Park housing estate in Crofton in mid October. This was our first new build and we were a bit nervous given recent media coverage given to poor new build quality in general and also reports of huge snagging lists that some buyers of new builds encounter. We are extremely happy with the quality of the home we have bought and the service that we have received. Ellie Wyles was the sales executive that we dealt with primarily and she was always helpful and responsive when we contacted her.Prior to moving in we had a few concerns regarding the house and asked to speak to Matt Bradwell who is the site manager. Right from the start it was clear that Matt would go out of his way to help with any issues that we had and he quickly addressed these initial concerns. As soon as we moved in Matt brought round a snagging list to fill in and told us that he aimed to address all snags within the month. It is unrealistic to expect no snags on a new build but we were very surprised how few snags we actually had, most of which were minor. 3 weeks in and we are now down to a few snags which are all scheduled to be addressed soon. We also had a couple of bigger issues which Matt has dealt with professionally and with minimal fuss. All the staff on site that we have dealt with are professional, respectful and helpful when needed but Matt Bradwell has been our main contact since moving in. He deserves a particular mention and is a credit to the company .

After purchasing a Harron Home I had many issues and a degree of difficulty getting the issues put right. Then Rebecca Chapman moved to our estate in the marketing office. TrustpilotPerfect House buying experience - Meadow View Plot 106
This is my second new house buying experience, and so far all I have is a positive review. We bought a home on the Meadow View site in Barnsley, this was one of the final homes, we delt with Tracey one of the sales team, who was exactly what you need when buying a house, direct, honest and patient when we were considering making the final decision. Great support on moving day and helped us with issues and decisions that are all part and parcel of buying a house. Once moved in we encountered a few problems (again all expected with a new build) and everyone was handled on site with little fuss, so a big thanks to Todd the site manager for being approachable and sorting all the issues.I’d also like to comment on the house build, as stated above the quality of the finish fromHarron is way above my previous build, accepted we did add extras but we got what we paid for. Construction runs through the family and al comment on the quality of the finish.Couldn’t thank you all enough, for making a the move easy for me and my young family, who are all settle and happy in our new home.

TrustpilotAVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!Plot 16 Oaklands Heath:Absolutely terrible and disgusting service from Harron Homes. I never thought that if I was to buy a £524,995 "luxury" home my wife, mum and I would all be treated so badly. Reserved this plot (Edlingham) in April/May time after seeing the Edlingham show home in Shelf: the plot was in the Lindley catchment area which is why I suspect most people are buying here. Multiple delays from Harron, pushed back house by many months. Originally agreed a part ex price for my current house and then refused to give this price even though it was in writing - Harron kept finding loop holes into why they don't need to pay their agreed price! We were threatened our purchase of the house will be cancelled because their own solicitors (Shullmans) did not bother checking any paperwork/contracts until a couple days before we were meant to exchange contracts and this will delay things??!Constantly threatening they will cancel items/extras in the house already agreed and in writing.Advised we have couple months to choose bathroom/kitchen equipment/tiles multiple times, then suddenly said only have a couple of days - at this point we had had a death in the family which we made harron aware of and said we were advised have couple months to choose yet can't do it all so fast; again we had more threats of cancellation and pressure! Multiple times in 1 day!The solicitors they recommended were an absolute unprofessional joke as well (Emsleys) and would either ignore our questions completely or take days and days to answer the simplest of queries- clearly both companies are helping each other get business. Once house was nearing completion already many faults and errors.Outside tap in completely the wrong place even though it was drawn on the house map by myself and the harron staff together!Wrong bannister! The "granite" included in the kitchen has to be the thinnest/cheapest granite I have ever seen - not "luxury" at all as they keep advertising themselves.I also had the stupid conversation about doing the "snagging list" after moving in! The site manager said this will help me idenitify all problems and give me longer to do it rather than doing the snagging prior to moving in like other normal housing companies do; he explained they are doing me a favour by doing this. I can see from reviews on here that clearly once you move in and snagging done Harron homes could not care less! More tricks and deceit! This is not a luxury homes site, they are a complete joke. Absolutely disgusting behaviour! It is very sad to put so much thought, effort and emotional involvement into something that is meant to be your "dream family home" and then get treated so badly. In the end I got so angry at how my family and I were being treated and read lots of reviews on here and spoke to others; turns out this is just normal behaviour and treatment of customers from Harron and we aren't the first people to go through this. I pulled out of this purchase a few weeks ago and feel so so glad I did; purchasing this house would have been the biggest mistake of my life, as it seems from reviews things only get 10 times worse once you move in! There are so many other options out there! Old builds, new builds, self builds! Avoid Harron. I can see that I am so lucky that I pulled out (even though lost money in the process over the last few months), my condolences to those who have moved in and are struggling. Now I understand why their sales keep falling through repeatedlyAvoid at all costs. I would never ever ever ever consider harron homes ever again. Horrible horrible company.

TrustpilotFar Grange, Selby. Underhand selling tactics
We went in initially to the Far Grange showhome at Selby to see what was available and the sales lady, showed us the properties on offer. The property she was trying to push on us was the Warkworth, however we explained it was over budget so she asked how we would feel if she could get us a good deal. We looked at the figures and explained we were about £10,000 apart and we weren't too sure if it was the right area for us anyhow. After a couple of weeks we went back to see if there was any scope to close this £10k gap and the fact that we wanted to part exchange our existing property. This started the ball rolling and the estate agents came out to value etc. She then came back with a deal but it was still around £8k apart. Over the next few weeks we were backwards and forwards with different deals on offer but nothing came in at the £10k difference. We were sticking to our guns as we were already over budget. Finally she came to us with an offer which brought us down to around £4k difference but she offered to throw a patio and an extra set of wardrobes in. This was completely her idea, not ours. I explained that if she could secure the patio and the wardrobes, I was just about there to saying yes. She urged us to go and look at the show home of this house type in Ripon and get back to her. This phone call was at around 4pm on a saturday afternoon and after discussing it with my husband he urged me to call back and reserve the plot. I rang her back only 25 minutes later but it went to answerphone so I left a message stating that we wanted to reserve it and asking what the deposit would be and how to go about paying it. She never responded to our call that afternoon, or the following day. She was aware that we would be tied up in the morning but that we would be rushing through to see the show home in Ripon on the Sunday afternoon. The show home looked amazing and as soon as we left, we rang to confirm the plot had been reserved. This was when she dropped the bombshell that somebody had walked in the sales office that day and reserved her property. I cannot describe how heartbroken I was and the following day I rang her to express my disappointment that she hadn't contacted us to acknowledge my phone call asking to reserve or to let me know there was another interested party. My main argument being that if she had returned my call and I had paid the deposit, then the house would have been mine. As far as I was concerned they should be honouring the deal they had offered. She told me the other couple had already sold their property so were in a better position, but she would speak to her manager and get back to us. When she called a few days later it was to tell us that the other couple hadn't actually paid the deposit yet (something to do with her being unable to take payments in the office apparently), and if we agreed to the same deal as this other couple we could have first refusal, the extra amount being £10k of course. This is when things started sounding a little bit too fabricated and after a few more discussions saying we weren't prepared to budge we told her that unless they honoured our deal we weren't interested and not to call us again until they agreed to go with what they had offered. At this point she hung up on my husband! This was around 4 weeks ago. The property is still on the market and my friend called a few days later to see which properties they had available and plot 146 was still very much for sale. The whole thing had been a complete fabrication. She was never intending to give us the deal she offered, nor was there another couple. She was stringing us along, trying to get us to fall in love with the property, only to snatch it away so we would then pay the extra. I'm absolutely fuming that she expected us to play this game! She should have been completely honest from the start and explained that she could not meet our requests. If she had been honest we may well have revisited our finances and decided to go the extra £10k, however after the tactics that were played on us there was no way I was going to spend over £300k with them. Since this i have emailed customer services, the managing director and also a regional MD. The managing directors PA replied and gave me details for one of the regional MD's who I forwarded my complaint on to. Unfortunately I have had no response despite 3 emails in total. I'm absolutely heartbroken that I lost this property and also that this is how they treat their potential customers. Harron, you had a buyer in me and due to your underhand sales tactics you lost me. I always thought Harron had a good reputation, however this has tainted my view.

I went to the brambles site on Saturday to have a look at plot 89 that you had for sale, sadly it wasn’t right for me and my family but I would like to say what a lovely young lady the Emily is I didn’t catch her second name she was more then happy to help and nothing was to much trouble for her she was very helpful but also had a laugh, I believe she was only young but I believe she will go very far within this company or any job she walks into the future she’s a natural talker. I asked why there was so many bad reviews about Harron homes and her answer was unbelievable ‘everyone only ever remembers bad and not the good, people are really quick to write bad reviews but never anything good, Harron homes is truthfully an amazing company how they do care for the customers and go the extra mile’ I will return in future when the time is right for a new home! Thank you Harron homes

Trustpilotfantastic customer service!
We already reserved a house from another development however, we weren't a hundred percent satisfied with the house. we received an offer from Harron Homes except when we went there the offer had been taken by another customer. Jane was excellent, she dug out another deal for us that was around our budget also, she seemed fully experienced in what she was doing.I'm really excited to be finally moving into my new house, hopefully in late November. All thanks to Jane!

We have bought a Seatle on the Amberwood Chase estate- plot 116. Settled in well, pleased with the design and excellent customer service from the site office.

TrustpilotPart Exchange Event
Went to the site in Howden for a discussion on a part exchange. We met a lady called Angie who went through everything in a clear and professional manor without the “hard sell”A very pleasurable experience all round and highly recommended
