TrustpilotHigh Gables, Pocklington - Great Expectations, a Greater Disappointment
To summarise our experience with the Harron Homes High Gables site, it has been nothing short of horrific. Filled with lies, deceit and a house which has over 300 snags. Myself and my partner now find ourselves wishing we had gone to other developments nearby. Buying our first home made us so happy but we can safely say that experience has been well and truly ruined. The sales reps were helpful on a whole when we reserved our house and kept us up to date as completion neared. Ellie, has been brilliant throughout all of this. We used Harron Homes' recommended mortgage brokers and solicitors. RSC New Homes as mortgage broker, who we found to be fantastic and would 100% recommend to anyone. Rhodes and Walker Solicitors who we found to be that awful we actually considered pulling out altogether. We went to complete the home demo on Wednesday 16th December. What we found at a quick glance was a very dirty and poorly finished house. We were assured there were tradesmen due to come into the house later that day and the following morning a team of cleaners were booked in to do our 'Sparkle Clean' of the property. The 17th of December came and we went to collect our keys after the exchange of our deposit. We found that no tradesmen had been near our property and the assistant site manager advised us that the booking for the cleaners had been forgotten so they hadn't been booked in! The assistant site manager did advise us, however, we could have a clean whenever we wanted we just had to let them know. Looking back, we should have refused to complete on the house but this is our first home, we were ecstatic and ultimately, we needed somewhere to live so we moved in. The staff told us they would complete the 48-hour check up call, where we could raise any snags, on Monday 21st December as there were no staff on site over the weekend. They were very apologetic the work and cleaning had not been done and promised us the world and more. We were over the moon, a luxury 4 bedroom house was ours.As we got our stuff moved in, we noticed more and more issues. We got suspicious and decided to dedicate some time to looking closely at our house. What we found was more than 300 snags across our house, with the heavy majority being cosmetic so luckily, not as serious as they could have been. We were shocked. A 'luxury' home that was everything but luxury. Ranging from walls that have not been painted, incorrect flooring laid, floorboards poorly fitted, walls with holes in them or chunks missing out of them and just about every skirting board in the house visibly damaged. It was okay though because we could raise all of this on our check-up visit. Monday 21st December came around. The Assistant Site Manager rang us to tell us that as of this day, Harron Homes would not be allowing tradesmen to enter homes until further notice due to COVID. We were miffed. Yes, there is a pandemic but no restrictions in our area had changed and other companies were still fine to come in to our house to do other work for us. Anyways, we done some digging and found Harron Homes knew in July no one would be entering our homes. Unfortunately, not one person told us at all and had we known this, it would have made us act differently when completing on the house. We took this to Harron and they denied all knowledge on a site level of this and sent a very questionable document they had received from their senior management advising them the ban on tradesmen entering homes was enforced from 21st December. I then spoke to a member of senior management who confirmed that no one was entering homes from as far back as July. It all didn't correlate with what each person was saying, very suspicious. We took this back up with site management which prompted a rather unprofessional, angrily toned phone call to my partner. We are also still waiting for the 'sparkle team' to arrive. Running parallel to this, we had the issue of the internet. On moving in, the site management informed us the internet was not set up yet as BT had not attended to complete their side of the work and it would only be a maximum of 2 weeks. It has now transpires that Harron have not installed any cables to allow us to get internet. We now have no date for getting internet installed in our homes. This also affects the footpath outside our home and the NHBC required this to be done by end of January 2021. My recommendation to Harron; take pride in your so called luxury product and don't lie to your customers. My recommendation to anyone moving in to a Harron Home on this estate, or any other estate, check the home thoroughly before moving in.My recommendation to anyone thinking of moving in to a home on the High Gables site; don't. There's a Bellway across the road...

TrustpilotBeautiful Homes with a catch
Review Altered - Initially, we had a great experience, the sales team were very helpful and did whatever they could to help us get in. The house itself (when it gets finished) will be lovely but after completion the story changes completely. After Moving in to what we thought was going to be (an ought to be) a perfect new build is finished to a standard that you would expect a child to do. Paint is everywhere; the floor, on the doors, the kitchen cupboards the tiles and the sockets the sockets. The plaster work is sloppy at best with gouges in the walls and cracks across the ceiling. on top of this there are doors with missing latches, doors that don't fit, doors which have bowed or bubbled and doors without handles. Tiles missing from the bathrooms (both in the shower and from the walls) and leaking sinks The house hadn't even been cleaned before we moved in! We were told on completion that the site manager would get in touch to sort out snags within a few days but they knew several days before that this wouldn't happen and that their management had already made the decision to not allow contractors into homes except for emergency works. On top of problems with the house itself, there are issues with the services. Prior to completion we were told that Openreach hadn't connected up the internet but this would be sorted within a few weeks (2 or 3) but now we're in we have discovered (through our own digging with Openreach) that the fault was with Harron Homes not laying cables for the internet and they can't give us a date as to when they will do this as they haven't even got planning permission for where they want to lay them! We were told there wasn't going to be a path put in and had to sign a letter to the NHBC giving our consent to approve the house on the provision that this would be done by the end of January... again, this has not been done and no date can be given as to when it will be.Before completion the communication was excellent but once they got our money it became non-existent. All our chasing gets met with "we don't have an answer but will keep you updated" but the updates never come. There seems to be a culture of get them in and fob them off, letters put through the door on the day they tarmac the road if you get a letter at all.Granted we are in a Global Pandemic and it is difficult if not impossible to get people into the house to rectify this but the fact of the matter is that we have been kept in the dark and lied to. Again this is an altered review as our experience before moving in was excellent but after completion we have been forgotten about. Left in a house with paint everywhere, broken doors, missing tiles, cracked plaster and no internet and no date as to when any of this, let alone all of it, will be resolved. The excitement and joy of our new house has been tarnished by sloppy workmanship and poor communication and we are not alone, all the buyers of first phase homes are in the same position. If you choose to buy one of these properties (as the show homes are lovely) I would be prepared for an uphill struggle to get the minimum of what you pay for or accept your new build will look like its been lived in for years.

TrustpilotHarron homes where do I start!!
Harron homes where do I start!!! When I signed up for the house I was sent an email offering me chocolates for a excellent review on trust pilot (bribery), the lady was very nice so I did it for her, no chocolates appeared! Then oh Covid doesn’t matter you can still move into your house and they pushed pushed and pushed causing me more stress and anxiety than I can even begin to explain in words. I completed just to make them happy even though I was not ready to complete. They promised the house was fully completed and there was nothing wrong. The faults are endless and nobody but nobody is interested you can not contact them by phone and they simply do not reply to emails. I have spend over £300k on a house and never received such bad after service in my entire life! Shocking and stressful just does not explain it!I have emailed you and you DO NOT reply, this is my point!

TrustpilotBrilliant experience, amazing home! Shame about the follow through
From our reservation to full completion and collection of our keys, this journey with Harron homes has been very memorableConstantly kept in the loop with updates on house legalities, issues with the house that needed to be done before collection of keys where chased and completed well in advanceHome demo gave us a chance to tour our home and see the house in detail, the sale rep even pointed out issues for us that needed to be highlighted on the snagging list that we initially placed on the demo paperworkSite manager took us through the entire house on the demo, showed us everything we needed to see to operate the house effectively. Site manager also chased jobs personally to get the house ready for completion day, a follow up visit to the house has now been booked in to review our snagg list and get the jobs completed within due time scales Sales rep has been absolutely wonderful, follow up calls, chasing jobs, getting house in shape, making sure legals are on point to ensure we had our home completion done on time We are entirely happy with the house, the experience and would recommend to anyone buying a new home to go with Harron HomesUPDATE: Well it all seemed well until you look closer of the build quality, not to mention the customer service, once the site is done that is it your on your own, not happy that we have been left with no response from head office to get current issues fixed. Not happy with the way Harron (Barron) Homes looks after its customers, aftercare is rubbish

TrustpilotThoresby Vale Edwinstowe
We have recently completed on the Thoresby Vale site in Edwinstowe. I can fully recommend buying your home from Harron at thoresby vale. As a first time buyer, we had alot of questions and needed alot of guidance / advice but Jo & Michelle have been amazing from start to finish and nothing was to much to ask from reserving to even now we have completed, they really take care and time in understanding your personal situation and even making sure your home is right for when you move in. We missed a couple of appointments but we were consistently contacted and recieved many photos of the progress which was great and made us feel involved still. Then in terms of site, Niall is brilliant in his work and also shows his passion for making sure the homes are right which was a big thing to us, and our snag list (very short / minor bits) he is more than accommodating to sort for us so this is a big relief when buying a new build home. Jo, Michelle and Niall are a true credit to Harron and have really made things amazing for us. Thanks guys!

TrustpilotThe Grange Worksop
We were interested in a 4 bedroom property at the Grange and arranged to visit the development and view the show home. We were met by a very professional and friendly Jo, who diligently took our temperature/contact details re the Covid protocols. Unfortunately the ground floor area of the show home we viewed (the one we could afford) was too small for our needs (having a 16 year old) and I had concerns about the size of the shower unit in the en-suite (my husband is over 6ft). We were however interested in the larger (Windsor) 4 bedroom property. Jo suggested that we may be able to part-exchange our home and gave contacts for us to be pre-qualified. Once that we completed, 3 local estate agents contacted us to arrange valuation, a very easy process. In the meantime, we arranged to visit another development which had the Windsor show home. Within a few days the part-exchange offer was received, one which I believe to be a favourable (to us) offer. Unfortunately, on viewing the Windsor show home, there were a few items that we felt we couldn’t compromise on: 1) the shower in the bathroom was tiny, it would have been better for an over bath shower and for a cupboard (to house towels etc) in the area housing the shower cubicle. 2) the shower cubicle in the en-suite was a little larger but not large enough for us (I do get a little claustrophobic)! Although we didn’t go ahead with the purchase/part-exchange, I do have to thank Jo for all her help and advice. If we come in to some money we would be back to purchase the Warkworth!

TrustpilotBad service from the start. (Chesterfield)
Bad service from the start.Gave us no time of day when we arrived at the viewing home, having double booked us. No desire to give us info or answer any calls. It wasn't until the mortgage advisor they use realised we could afford the property, that they put in a bit more effort. But was still as slow as anything. House purchase eventually fell through from their bad customer service.

TrustpilotWe purchased at The Thornberries…
We purchased at The Thornberries estate. We are very happy with our home. That is not so say that’s it’s perfect and Harron certainly have their faults. Some of the brickwork to the garden wall is of a pretty poor standard, and all the properties on the estate seem to have their quirks. However, I do not know of a person on the estate who regrets buying their home, in spite of the issues that everyone has faced. All in all, not perfect but maybe not as bad as some of the other reviews would suggest. All I would say, if buying fromHarron do not expect perfection.

TrustpilotSHOCKING!
We have been in our property three years. We live on Eden Brooke Vale. We have a list of outstanding defects. Harron Homes haven't been helpful throughout and nothing has been rectified! The bedroom above the garage isn't insulated and requires an electric heater to warm it! In a brand new home is unacceptable. You can see the floor joists coming through the ceiling in the living room. The plaster works is shocking! The heating isn't wired up correctly the list goes on and on... DO NOT BUY from Harron Homes. The LABC will be informed to try and get these issues resolved.

TrustpilotOur experience with Harron Homes…
Our experience with Harron Homes started off shaky, with a few different changes in staff. However, then Ann Lawler came along and took over the Forester's View Development in Crich and we're so glad she did! We wouldn't have managed to get our house without Ann, as she managed to step in, understand what had happened prior to her starting and managed to get us our dream home sorted, along with a part exchange deal too! From reserving to completing, the whole process only took 10 weeks, including the part exchange. Ann is fab, great at communication, friendly and is always a text or a phone call away. We've had a few little concerns but are in the midst of getting these sorted and our next step is to get our list of snags sorted. Thanks Ann! x

TrustpilotMy biggest mistake
We purchased what was supposed to be a lovely family home in the summer of 2020 but has turned into a nightmare. If you thought COVID was bad then stay away from Harron homes. Some of the customer care we have received from the site manager and the customer service manager are “ you get what you pay for” and “ if it was a £20 gesture I could help” . The site manager agreed to move the fence that is not put up correctly and then denied this on a telephone with myself and the customer service manager. A small selection of the problems we are having are( Harron homes have had 6 months to fix or at least plan to fix most of these issues) - internal walls not level by 50mm- damp walls to bedrooms and garage- cylinder leaked -garden fence put up incorrectly -different coloured cement used across the house. - damp proofing course lower than ground level or just level. Should be 150mm above ground level - heating system wired wrong. Downstairs controls upstairs and visa versa. - shower tray has a hole in it.-brick work out of line - smashed bricks- loose brick - windows not fitted correctly - vents not sealed - external walls not level to the garage- electric sockets not in correct place - radiators damaged - roof tiles lose - all hinges painted over - front door not level - holes in bricks to double doors - woodwork to doors split -changed corbelling to plastic and did not state this at any point. Show homes had brick corbelling) (And much much more) Hopefully I can write a better review like my wife did if all these issues and the rest are resolved satisfactorily ( my wife wrote a good review as Harron homes give you a box if chocolates if you do. I am guessing this is why they have some good reviews) As I said hopefully I can write a good review in the near future.

I purchased my house in August 2017 from Harron Homes. In 3 and a half years we still do not have any roads completed on our estate. The customer service is worse than appalling. I am sick of being ignored and fobbed off. To think they advertise their houses as luxury homes is a joke. If you are looking at a new house, I'd look elsewhere! TrustpilotWe purchased a home in York Vale…
We purchased a home in York Vale Gardens in September 2020. I cannot fault the sales service we received from both Caroline and Angie, who were friendly, professional and provided great customer service. The legal process however was very stressful. The home was build complete and we had a Part ex also of a newly built property, but made it clear we wanted to move quickly to ensure we were in our new home before the start of the school term. Harron Homes's Solicitors were very slow and unresponsive and made the whole experience most stressful and delayed. I ended up doing all of the chasing. However all issues aside, we eventually completed and are now in our beautiful home which we LOVE. We have had a few minor snagging issues, and those have been resolved speedily by Harron Homes.

TrustpilotThink long and hard before you commit!!!
23/11/2020 - Another update, thankfully Trustpilot managed to reinstate my review. Before you read mine, do note how almost all the newer ones are conveniently all 5 star, something we might have ventured to giving them prior to moving in, I'll be real interested to re-read the updated versions of the recent wonderful reviewers, especially after getting the keys....I seriously doubt it. Been in our house nearly a year now, have yet to have anything fixed or resolved within that period. Whilst I appreciate there has been restrictions with the Covid situation, the site has been fully open the whole time pretty much, and again now with the second lock-down. Customer Services either do not have the team or support needed, they either fail to reply or just say they are too busy (have emails to that effect). The site itself is lovely, we are however about to receive our 8th site manager, that should say it all, we thankfully have only been through two in our time there. The workers are all self employed, so there is no accountability, so when you finally get the keys, there is nobody to fix the numerous issues. All the houses in our Close are suffering with inadequate insulation for those with rooms above the garages. When you buy a new house, you expect it to be warm, ours is unbearable in certain areas. Building control have visited and said they have not worked to the correct specifications, and not just with the insulation, wrong boilers fitted too. Our whole house needs to be decorated, the last site manager said there was at least two to four weeks work in that area alone. Harron now have the sales team working and on-site workers too, but are refusing to look and solve the issues with the houses already completed, using the Covid excuse to suit their specific needs, if it was for the care of their staff, why are they open to sell houses and still build them? Seriously do read the reviews if looking to purchase and think twice, have a close look at the finishing on "Luxury Houses", I honestly wished I had....shocking and could not care a less when they have your money and purchase. Update 05/11/2020 - No mail sent by Harron or Trustpilot despite the indication below, after reviewing other negative comments, could not help to notice all receive the same response, they don't know who you are, surely we can't all be ghost buyers, and all positive comments be real? - Further Update 09/11/2020, failing to see why the review is being investigated, hopefully it is to look into the situation with Harron Homes and their sub-standard work, and the fact they appear to not know their customers when they offer a negative review, strange that, they certainly have my email address used here and have taken money from me for the house, so absolutely have my details. My review is arguably more than fair, or better than it could or should have been.
