Shocking aftercare

Once you complete on your property they do NOT care. I've lived in my house for 13 months and STILL have snags. 100s of emails and calls, staff turnover is high and you end up having to forward emails and explain things again. It's honestly painful, completely ruined my experience buying my first dream home. I've emailed directly to staff at CS, East Midlands team and group mailbox. It doesn't make a difference, simple things takes them months to rectify, the company isn't professional or efficient and CS operatives often turn up not knowing what needs to be done and often snags end up being in a worse situation.

I bought a house in Middlebeck and have absolutely loved it! Customer service team were great pre and post purchase - big shoutout to Donna, Sarah and Liam and Arron who have reassured me with any questions or issues. On moving day we did have a slight delay but that was compensated for. Then we only had about 15 snags which were all sorted pretty quickly and mainly decorative. We did have one issue with drainage plans and layouts but again this has been rectified and remedial works in progress. I absolutely love the houses, love the spaciousness and the layout (I have a new Walton). Only top tip as with all new builds is don't underestimate the dust until any development is complete!

3 years in and we still love our Countryside Property!

My husband and I reserved our Countryside home in July 2019 and moved in December 2019. Nearly 3 years on and we are still completely and utterly in love with our home. Having seen a number of different offerings from other housebuilders, the first thing that sprung out to us on discovering Countryside is the stunning range of house types available. The layouts, design and standard specification totally outstrips any other mainstream housebuilder in our opinion. It made picking Countryside an easy choice for us as we did not have a huge budget for 'extras' that we would have needed had we purchased from another company. From day 1 the sales team (Emily and Michelle) were an absolute dream to work with. Nothing was too much trouble for them and both women were kind, helpful, knowledgeable and professional throughout. We purchased off plan and did experience build delays of 3 months. This wasn't unexpected and as eager as we were to get the keys, we would rather the house be built right than built quickly! On handover, the house did have a number of snags/defects to be resolved, however the site team and customer care team were great and I do feel they went above and beyond to help us. They started to repair snags within 2 days of us moving in and in total it took about 3 months to get most things resolved. Unfortunately, covid and lockdown hit in month 3 and anything outstanding was cancelled. Luckily, what was outstanding wasn't anything too drastic that needed urgent attention and didn't impact our ability to fully use and enjoy our home during lockdown.We got back in touch with Countryside earlier this year as our 2 year warrantee was due to end. As before, they're response was positive, and I would like to give special thanks to Niel and Rob on the Customer Care Team for their great work. If I had to make any recommendations to Countryside for areas to improve, it would be with the build. For such stunning house types and high spec, a higher attention to detail during the build stage to reduce defects prior to handover would elevate Countryside head and shoulders above the rest! To anybody considering buying a Countryside Property, we would not hesitate to recommend Countryside to others. We love our home and look forward to many happy years at Wards Keep.

If you want a stress-free life, avoid this company!

If you buy from Countryside then you may be one of the very lucky few that moves into a house with not that many major problems. Unfortunately, I’m one of the average buyers that now has a house full of on-going problems, how do Countryside deal with any major issues/problem? they simply ignore you. If you stand your ground with any snag/issue/problem they will shout, swear and threaten you. They will of course come back and carry out very simple jobs like running a paint roller over the walls but anything major they will simply ignore the problem and keep stalling you until you either forget or go away. Currently I have a window that has been fitted crooked, very loud creaking flooring in the upstairs of the house, loose tiles on the roof, large gaps between the soffit and the roof, a damaged kitchen due to the dishwasher not being plumbed in, large wide cracks are now appearing in the plaster work, my new build actually had a second-hand bath fitted, I could go on and list even more problems but I’m sure you get the picture. There is a shocking lack of professionalism from Countryside, the favourite saying from the customer service team is “We’ll need to check and call you back” this has been said to me on at least fifty occasions and not once have they ever called back. If the work and the build was carried out to a competent standard these could be really nice houses, but until UK Laws are strengthened and enforced companies like Countryside will continue to build bad houses and treat customers with total contempt.

We could not be happier with our new home in Brookfield Vale. The whole process was extremely smooth and we were kept well informed by Tara Harrison. All the builders on site are very welcoming and helpful. Only had a couple problems so far that we’ve come across, which are getting sorted and overall the home is beautiful.

Shocking from the get go

Shocking from the get go. I should state that our home looks lovely from the outside, I appreciate the fact that new builds have the odd snag here and there but on our third night during a bout of rainfall we had water coming in through the skylights; not to mention the fact that the heating is the wrong way around and we’re stuck with no internet due to a planning error. We selected this home because it is genuinely lovely and within our price range. The sales manager promised all the bells and whistles, solicitors fees with £1000 etc… which never happened because of the fact that despite their role as a seller of homes they don’t actually plan their deals in line with most banks mortgage policies. No communication from Countryside throughout the sales process or indeed guidance from them. Was told that we should use their solicitors or the process would fall down which indeed it did despite using their solicitors. Appliances which came fitted have lasted all of 5 minutes because various parts have been taken off presumably to mend others.We have no fence now either after a week because it has been ripped down to make room for the adjacent builds garage to which we had no input from countryside regarding this.All in all it has been a painful experience as a first time buyer and made me reticent to do it again. If this was any other purchase or product I’d ask for some money back.

Disappointed with customer support

We moved into our house at the end of May, On inspection we found a lot of snags with the property ranging from shoddy wiring, Doors and windows not closing properly, Raised floors, poor decor, Damage to various bricks on the outside of the property to parts of the roof that look like it's been installed by a toddler. The list goes on. We have been in touch with customer support and some of these issues have been resolved, With other issues various dates had been given to us for when contractors would attend and they did not turn up and are still outstanding.

You don't need to look any further for your perfect home!January 2022 we stumbled across a countryside development site and the moment we walked into the countryside sales office we was greeted by Anne whom by the way is a true credit to countryside nothing is ever too much trouble and there is no pushy sales tactics she has the patience of a Saint and has communicated with us throughout the whole process. We was blown away the moment we stepped through the door we had finally found our dream home! The build and layout is like no other with standard features you'd usually be expected to have to then upgrade to. As for snagging yes we've had a couple of minor ones but the site managers Ryan, Simon and Tom ensure your also taken good care of I also have to say all of their team are friendly polite and courteous as for Val he is one of the best!If you are thinking of buying a new build do not hesitate and look no further than countryside.

No Car Parking Space and FAKE promising

We bought a flat on Alma Estate Development.At the beginning, the Sales Team was amazing, the property was and is good. But for many residents, we were refused a Parking Space under the FAKE clame that all were sold out. Later on, after half year or so, in order for Countryside to sell the remaining flats, Car Parking Spaces were magically found and offered for free with last remaining flats, despite the last buyers openly tolled Countryside that they didn't need one, don't have a car and are not drivers. Now, some of these residents, ask £250/month parking renting fee...Living in my area, mandatorily needing and having a car but not having a Parking Space, is insane! At the time of the flat purchase, it was promised that later on, a Parking Space will be offered, but after almost 4 years now, all our correspondence goes without ANY replies from Countryside. It looks like they just DON'T CARE anymore...We are VERY DISAPOINTED in Countryside now.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE BUILDERS! DO NOT BUY!These bunch of cowboys are the absolute worst. Build quality is disgraceful. Customer service is laughable (some workers are ok but they will leave when they have enough of the complaints often go on holiday and never come back) we had well over 100 snags, a lot of them major issues such as gaps in the roof, disconnected waste pipes, holes in wall the list could go on. They say the houses are inspected they are not! Or a drive by inspection. They wouldn't let us view the property before we moved in to which we found that DRAINAGE WAS NOT TO PLAN! 4 DRAINS IN THE BACK GARDEN INSTEAD OF AT THE FRONT CAUSING CONSTANT BLOCKAGES (APPARENTLY BABY WIPES YET NO BABIES ON THE STREET). They promise to sort things out and either never do or take forever. My advise would be get everything in writing and keep on at them. We don't have our NHBC warranty still after 4 months. It has been nothing but hassle be prepared to give up a lot of your time fighting to get anything sorted out, numerous amount of time off work making sure someone is in for builders to carry out snagging. God only knows what is going on under the floors and in the walls. WILL THE HOUSE EVEN STAY UP OR WILL IT FALL DOWN AFTER A FEW YEARS!

Get Everything in Writing

Please, if you do deal with these worms, get everything in writing! They promise the world and deliver a little. They make you feel stupid, asking if you have it in writing, first time buyer so I was naïve enough to believe what these guys were saying. If they promise to come out after 16 months to fill in all the movement issues, this is just a lie, they will only come out and assess if you have cracks over 3mm wide. I could go on forever but no one cares, just wanted to leave a 1 star and help future buyers.

DISHONEST COMPANY!!

I’ve been in my property for 2 1/2 years. For 2 of those years I’ve been trying to buy my freehold WITHOUT ridiculous covenants in! I have ONLY JUST had a reply to be told no, even though you took them out for my neighbor at the point of purchase!!! I was lied to by staff at the show homes saying any restrictions are just temporary and once the builders were off site they wouldn’t apply. I was enticed to use their recommended solicitor with a free dishwasher who neglected to tell me anything about covenants, which are actually in for LIFE!! These include things like making me PAY for permission to add/remove plants from my own garden. Or paint my front door, or change internal doors. If you wanted an extension you have to pay for an architect to design it, so you can pay to submit your plans to countryside and they can just refuse anyway. When we were first in they tried to get out of fixing most of the snags. They sent a manager out at one point who spoke to me terribly infront of my 10 year old and made me cry! Absolute disgrace of a company!!

**PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN PURCHASING PROPERTY FROM COUNTRYSIDE** As with many other reviews there is a running theme with Countryside; A* service when papers are being exchanged/purchasing process of said property, then one sale is complete you are essentially yesterdays news. Snag lists not attended to properly, zero communication regarding a poor standard of garden installation, no updates regarding warranties, the list goes ON AND ON....Any answers given are completely vague and do not represent any realistic timeframe or reassurance of resolution. Should you find that property that you really want with Countryside I would HEAVILY RECCOMMEND mentioning this review and others like it as the moment they receive the exchange and transfer of funds their service goes from truly impressive to truly awful. My Advice; do your homework on them, do not take the promises or reassurances of any form of aftercare/warranties as golden, and mention this and other reviews like it.
