Consistently Champion!
Oo, life by the river in a lovely home is a massive treat! Importantly me and my family have been looked after wonderfully from the outset. At each stage, from coming for the first viewing to dealing with solicitors to helping us settle in, all have been carried out in the way you would hope to be treated and then even more. Across the board, everyone is committed and helpful. Any correspondence is answered quickly and things are dealt with efficiently and accurately, first time. We regularly receive friendly updates and checking in emails, making sure we're ok, bringing us up to date and offering any support. The office being on site is great ; help and advice are literally just down the road. The house is absolutely beautiful, so quiet inside ! The area is wonderful - the city centre in 10 minutes walking to Victoria Gate ,15 minutes to the station and less than 20 minutes by train from Leeds to York ,one stop, to where one of my family commutes, via the river taxi to the station , which feels very swish and only costs a pound each. Life here is happy and fun. We all feel very lucky. This is the best house buying and living in the home experience we have ever had. It is brilliant at Citu.
Dear Katya, thank you so much for leaving us this 5-star review. We're thrilled to hear how much you love your new home and living at the Climate Innovation District. We really appreciate you sharing your experience and are so pleased to have you as part of the community - Team Citu

Avoid CITU
Avoid CITU, I bought a home from them and they are a joke. Terrible Customer Service, poor quality build and they are not Eco homes.
Many thanks for taking the time to discuss your situation with us. We have taken all your comments on board and will act accordingly. The Citu Team

I love my new home
I love my new home, I love the innovation and concept for creating a new more sustainable home and build a truly unique house within a beautiful environment. My home has stayed a consistently warm temperature right throughout the house during the winter months and I am really looking forward to being here in the Summer to enjoy the stunning outdoor space that is shared right across the community. All of the residents I have met have been lovely and there are community events for those who want to take part and everyone is happy to help each other with real community spirit. I can see that snagging issues are being resolved by subtle design changes aimed to improve new properties as the site progresses so though I can see others have posted bad reviews and have had issues this has not been my personal experience which is all I can make comment on. I really love living here and cannot wait for the coffee shops and restaurants to be built to further enhance the whole area.
Dear Christina, thank you so much for leaving us this 5-star review. We're thrilled to hear how much you love your new home and living at the Climate Innovation District. We really appreciate you sharing your experience and look forward to hearing how you enjoy the district when summer blooms! - Team Citu

Easily the worst company I have ever dealt with!
Simply woeful company. *EDIT* - Please don't be fooled by their response. I have been chasing them to rectify issues since November 2020. Many of times my email just get ignored until I chase them. Taking 16 months to come to my property and do a report and action none of it is by no means considered good customer service. They market themselves very well but do not be fooled their after care and customer service is completely non-existent. To any prospective buyers please spend your hard earned money elsewhere. They hide being COVID as an excuse for not being able to rectify issues however they have hundreds of workers on site 7 days a week and continue to build and fit out new houses all around me. They were very quick to use myself and my property in their marketing and PR campaigns but not so quick to speak with myself regarding issues, in fact I have just been ignored on several occasions. I have lived in my property for 15 months now and still have no clarity on when the numerous defects will be rectified. They use the classic deferral tactics of coming to your property to 'document' your issues then you never hear from then again. Moreover nothing even gets noted down. They have been to my property at least 5 times. Issues include: - Subfloor in every room is very very creaky and loud which disturbs people below.- Wood flooring on both stair cases has large gaps up either side. (Citu have actually said this is normal and would only seal this up as a 'gesture of good will' which is rather insulting.) - Wood flooring splitting in numerous places.- Carpet in bedroom bobbly and not sealed around the door. - Bannister damaged by tradesmen and not rectified. I paid an additional £2,000 to have a kitchen island in my home which took 5 months for them to actually fit. I was left for the majority of that period with no Quartz top on the island and no one would communicate with me as to where it was. Numerous times CITU have allowed their construction workers to be polishing concrete extremely loudly at 1am waking up the whole estate, which had to be reported to the council. 90% of what is fitted internally is subcontracted and the workmanship is extremely poor. When it comes to rectifying issues their subcontractors have either quit or been sacked (lost count of how many joiners they have had.) Same goes for their customer service/remedials team. Also have paid £18,000 for a parking space for the car park to be terribly flooded with moody water for my first year there with no compensation offered. I have voice recordings of CITU's own contractors referring to their customer service team/CITU in general as 'like talking to a wall.' Which pretty well sums them up as a business. If anyone thinking of buying from CITU would like a discssion with myself before doing so please feel free to contact myself via Instagram @Frazerconnelly
Dear Frazer, Firstly, we wanted to address your comments about lack of customer service communication - most recently we visited you at your home on 8th February and then followed up with a full commitment report on the 11th February - giving transparent feedback on the issues you had raised. We'd also like to take the opportunity to clarify and address some of the issues that you have highlighted within your review:- We do not have a team of hundreds of workers on a 7 day a week schedule, but do have a team that is assigned to developing the Climate Innovation District - they are dedicated to the commitment we have made to the existing and future residents to protect and increase the value of their properties as well as accelerating the transition to zero carbon cities.- COVID has not only impacted Citu but all property developers. Whilst we do not like to use the pandemic as a reason, it is a fact that it has affected the supply chain, costs and the general functioning of the industry.- Due to a complication related to concrete pours and subsequent timing issues we acknowledged and apologised for the works that continued into the night. These works are now complete and we do not foresee any further impact.- We acknowledge there are occasionally challenging times being a resident adjacent to a development and we are transparent within the sales process - highlighting what is complete on the site and the future works that will be involved. We remain committed to applying process and communication to focus on completing what we are dedicated to delivering; sustainable homes that will radically reduce carbon emissions.I hope we can continue to communicate to resolve your outstanding issues.

Alan an Jo Brad…
We had the pleasure of visiting the Citu open day last week. And wow what a wonderful experience it was to attend and see this innovative, original and inspiring development on the Leeds riverside. This progressive and thoroughly eco sensitive village of beautiful houses and apartments projects way into the future with its modernity and exceptional attention to the Climate initiative. Thank you Danielle and Andrew for your superb and caring service. A trully remarkable experience.
Thank you so much for this 5-star review. We really appreciate you taking the time to feedback and help spread the word about us. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Climate Innovation District again soon.

Danielle has been instrumental in helping the process of buying our first home run smoothly. She has gone above and beyond to answer questions, sort out any issues and help us stay excited throughout what could easily have been a really stressful process (thank you!). Even at such an early stage in the development, you can tell from walking around just how much care has been employed in the design, the details and the innovation. We're looking forward to watching how the community and spaces grow around us over the next few years :-), Edit: 9 months after moving in. Citu have continued to be fantastic throughout the time we have lived here. We are so happy with our house, the spaces around us, and the friends we've made here. It's exciting watching the development change and improve over time. Moving onto a development before it was finished was initially a worry for us, but the benefits of buying early have definitely paid off for us. We have a great relationship with Citu as a company; they are a small developer, so we have always been able to speak to the person we need to speak to easily. If we have had any issues with our plot, they have been resolved for us quickly and efficiently. Super happy to be here!

A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE for a first time buyer
AVOID - Terrible Customer Care and After Sales Support. It does not exist! After 3 months my snagging list remains long and no true intention to resolve. Many issues are serious and should not have been considered complete. Take great care if buying a home from Citu. A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE for a first time buyer

We dealt primarily with Danielle who was attentive and responsive at all times. We did not proceed to purchase due to a personal preference regarding a feature of the development but have no complaints whatsoever about the experience we had in the viewing and decision-making process.PositiveResponsiveness, Professionalism

Citu is an unprofessional organisation. Great marketing (including misinformation), poor delivery. They do not meet deadlines or quality standards they set for themselves. People moving in late (months) and defects left (they claim it will take a month we are 9 months in). Defects are not small and can include roof leaks, plumbing issues and missing parts to kitchens. They regularly cut power and water without 24 hours for planned buliding works. They change gates and passcodes without prior warning. They share an entrance and car park with residents. Residents pay about 15k to park cars which regularly get punctures, have damaged paint work and are covered in mud. Their communucation is very unprofessional- if they communicate at all. My advice would be to steer clear of Citu. Buy a house in the CID after people have lived there a year or two so defects are fixed and you do not have to deal with Citu. The majority of the 5 star reviews are from people who had not yet moved in or work for Citu. EDIT: in response to citu's response below in regards to the "misleading statements in my review", these are the facts: • false marketing example - their web site says they won't sell to investors but they are now selling to investors. • since moving in 9 months ago we have had at least 3 water interruptions one of which lasted several days and only one of these came with bottled water • 3 disruptions have occurred to the Internet • 2 electricity supply cuts one of which we were reassured wouldn't affect us • when my previous review was written there were 5 reviews written by people who either work for citu or are sub contractors 3 others do not live on the site. I welcome the update that the timeframe for the resident and constructor entrance has been updated from October 2020 to Spring 2021.I understand it has been a difficult year due to Covid and I am pleased Citu have been able to complete an additional 24 houses since we moved in.

Abysmal company. As others have noted - market themselves very well but after sales care is non-existent . We have had multiple defects in our flat which we have repeatedly noted and reported , including but not limited to: - Cracked kitchen worktop , which is actually split on the sink rim. - ‘Knocking’ pipes in the bathroom every time the toilet/sink is used . - Excessive condensation on all windows- this has caused damage to the walls and further complex issues. - Paint marks and poor finishing of the bathroom door and kitchen worktops. - Skylight leaking ; leading to damage and mould . All of these issues have been inspected by a builder and confirmed independently ; then no further action taken and all communication just circles back to ‘confirming’ defects . Have to consistently chase to get any response and all responsibility is shirked - using the tagline ‘within design margins expected’ . There is zero accountability for their build quality and very little customer support . Even when you raise any issues collectively, things just get kicked further down the line. For instance, the entrance to our building has an intercom system, however this is not connected to the entrance door (which works on traditional lock/key). Collectively the residence raised the issue with Citu as we have not been able to use our intercom system, and after multiple emails communication we were told Citu would not fix this issue and this is the ‘design’ . Further to this is the extremely disappointing effort made to communicate with residents . Examples include : - Short term notice for making ‘essential work’ to the parking structure ; no explanation of what this is and an expectation to park elsewhere during said work . With no compensation or other parking offered . When we have paid £14000 for the parking spot . - Internet shortages - Cold water ; no notice or acknowledgment of this . - Long response times and vague circular replies when issues are raised . Blaming all but themselves. They market themselves as an ethical , sustainable company with a long list of awards . But once they get their money they are disinterested and have no accountability . The flats are in a brilliant location which masks citu as an incompetent, unprofessional company who do not care for their clients. They hide behind covid as an excuse to not be able to help yet they have workmen on site every weekday - and since we have been there they have put up a whole row of houses. Full disclosure ; my girlfriend owns the flat and I live there ( before I’m not on the books as a homeowner) Do not buy with citu.

We were early adopters to CID and have lived here for 2 years in March. For us the move and investment in the CITU vision was a real leap of faith, but we are so glad we did it. We love our home, and the community. Living in a developing community has challenges, but the ethos we bought into is still exciting. Any issues we have had along the way have been ironed out and we are excited about development of our community. Thank you to Danielle and the CITU team. Ps we are not CITU employees, we are just very happy with our choice.PositiveQuality

This review is based on the defect/snag process. 6 Jan 2020:See photos for examples of the defects in homes sold and built by citu. I’ll update if there is any resolve made by the developer. These items were highlighted six weeks ago and no one has responded or made any corrections. The lack of response is a repeat of the communication received when trying to buy the house. 14 Jan 2020: @citu thanks for the reply on google. Someone came and looked round the house and agreed that the finishes were very poor but since then no-one has got to back to us regarding when repair work would start. The bins remain insufficient (2 household bins for at least 5 residences and 2 commercial units), and on this subject no one is providing a response. As a developer who prides themselves on sustainability I would have expected recycling bins to be provided too. 23 Feb 2020: Citu still have not rectified the defects with the house and not provided any timeframe for when repairs will occur, or provided recycling bins (additional waste bins have been provided). Another technique which they are using to avoid carrying out repairs is by stating that defaults are within acceptable tolerances. 8 April 2020: Some areas, such as faulty MHVR and Electrical meters, have been rectified by Citu ☑️. Other snags surrounding the final finish of bathrooms/carpentry remain outstanding but Citu are in contact with me and other new home owners and are responding to issues. Work has slowed down on site due to COVID-19 which I anticipate will create unforeseen delays for work items such as snags. The bin situation has not been resolved, and the council waste removal contractor Veolia does not collect waste from all the bins stores. Further discussion need to happen between the council and a representative from Citu. The result is rubbish bags are piling up in some of the bin areas. 3 August 2020: Whilst building work has increased onsite, the snags remain outstanding. Citu have not provided any communication on when/how they will fix the snags. As more residents move into Lizzie Lane it is evident that the snags are repeated in each house. The poor workmanship is shameful given the high cost of the houses. And the lack of active communication from Citu despite frequent requests is an example of the disorganised nature of the company that I’ve experienced.

Buying into CITU for the personal touch.
Our experience of buying at Citu’s Climate Innovation District was a really positive one and we felt looked after throughout the whole process. As with all new build properties there has to be some flexibility from all parties as often there are unforeseen issues and delays along the way but communication is key and we feel Citu have done their best to deliver. What was amazing was the support from the entire community- we ended up living with a neighbour in her spare room whilst our property was completed. This enabled us to get to know how the house functions and also learn what problems there have been for people who bought their properties early on. I can say for certain that enormous amounts of improvements have been made and continue to be made as time goes on. A friend of ours who bought a new property in Castleford a few years ago from a large house building company commented that the finish of our house was well beyond their own. The night before we completed and moved in, we saw the two directors who live on site getting stuck in with Danielle from sales and the rest of the team, helping to clean our house. It was incredibly humbling to see the passion they’ve put into these properties and it’s these added elements which forge such a great community here at CID.

Fantastic company, beautiful home!
We've lived in our Citu home for just over a year now and we couldn't be happier. The community is fantastic, and it's even better that Citu are part of it too. It's such a lovely place to live, and I'm certain we will be here for a very long time. The sales process was smooth, and aftercare has been top notch for us. No complaints at all!

Did not rectify building errors
Did not rectify building errors. Charge for utilities based on random errors caused by meter glitches. No guarantee on building of property.
Hi Jayne. We're sorry to hear you've had that experience. We've investigated the utility charges and we could not see any issues with the meter. Please contact customer support if this is still outstanding. Your property does come with a 10-year building warranty (10 years from the completion date). You should have the information of the warranty provider in your welcome pack. If you're missing this please contact our customer support person.

Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. From duping housing regs to blaming COVID for not rectifying a woefully long snagging list (whilst they still continuing to build on the site!) resulting in the house sitting empty months after completion. If you want to be able to live in your home once you’ve bought it I suggest buying elsewhere.
Hi Jackie, thank you for the feedback. We don't have any customers registered under the name Jackie so we can't identify your case. Please contact our customer support person (Megan) who's email will have been in your welcome pack so we can address any outstanding issues. During lockdown, we minimised visits into peoples homes as much as possible in-line with government advice. This has had an impact on snagging but we're now working to rectify this.

An example of when a company has a monopoly in an area. Terrible customer service with no regard for the extra stress and expenses incurred due to the repeated delays and lack of communication.

Review based on energy rating and electricity bill. I was expecting a higher energy rating for the house. I received the energy certificate 3 months after moving in. The cost of energy is higher than the average house since the development has no gas. The power supplied by the solar panels does not seem to reduce bills, with the December bill coming in at £195 for the month, this was based on estimate readings.
