Germany Beck- York. Charles Church to Persimmon- Same Development!

I’ve bought a persimmon home on the same development on Germany Beck in york. About 200 metres away from my current Charles church home. It’s not ready yet and I am due to move in about 3 months but what prompted me to do this early review was the sheer amount of support I have again received from Charles church/persimmon. I had more than a few obstacles to overcome to get the plot I really wanted on Germany Beck,York.Ben Roberts was again hugely influential in helping me get this over the line and we managed to thrash out a deal that was suitable for both sides. He has been absolutely brilliant yet again. The sales team of Liam and Rebecca have kept me fully informed from choosing my extras to providing timelines which has made this process more than enjoyable and quite literally stress free. I am now again enjoying watching my new home being built up to now roof height and the site manager Andy is just quite simply the best site manager in the business! This is fact! Nothing is too much trouble. His deputy merv has been equally outstanding as has the contact I've enjoyed with all the dedicated tradesman. If you want to move to a hugely desirable place just on the outskirts of York city centre and enjoy first class service then Germany Beck is the one for you.I have had nothing but excellent top notch service from both Charles church and persimmon spanning a little over 2 years which is why I’ve chosen to move home on the same development. I now can’t wait to enjoy the same high standards and finish to my new home in the coming months which will inevitably give me a platform to do another review once I move in.I sold my house in days and this was because of the finish and attention to detail they put into it as it was being built and on completion. So please also invest in the many extras that are available to you when buying as it’s worth it’s weight in gold.Onwards and upwards to my new home/project and probably my final home. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Leaves much to be desired. AVOID.

Avoid - we looked round a show home in Jan 2021 in Essex, and we “early bird” reserved a property that we were told we were expecting a Q1 2022 completion date. In August 2021 I received a call to say I should be able to reserve my plot in a few weeks time. This didn’t happen. The expected completion date came and went and the plot had not been started. The sales team have no idea what is going on and constantly move the goalposts telling us “you can reserve in August 2021, should be before Christmas, should be just after Christmas, oh it won’t be until May/June 2022 now” Bearing in mind that early reserving does not set the price, when the plot was started and formally released (March 22, not May/June as advised by the sales team!) it was £65k more than we had first seen it advertised 14 months earlier. We felt this was an obscene amount of money to put the price up by in 1 year given the average UK salary is around £30k so this increase is more than 2x the average salary in the UK. Upon telling sales staff that this is now unaffordable and asked for my £100 deposit back as entitled to in the agreement. I have now sent two emails to them and I feel like I have effectively been ghosted by them and I start a potentially long process to reclaim what is rightfully mine.I don’t like leaving negative reviews but honestly this company are absolute cowboys and I can’t even imagine what problems would lay ahead if I had actually bought the house on offer.

House is beautiful but Customer Service isnt great

We love our new home and we have no major issues but unfortunately it has been a stressful time getting to this point. We were not able to view our property at any stage of the build and only saw it for the first time a few days before Completion. We were also given no choice on when completion would take place and the house was unfortunately not ready, we had people still inn painting on the day we completed. We feel our home will be worth it in the end as it is a great layout and size but we really wish we had a better buying experience thoughout the build.

We are in the process of buying a house and the whole process so far has been a joy. Our moving in target is July to September (2022).Quick mention for Amy from the sales team who was friendly, knowledgeable and very well organised from the first time we met her. She had a comprehensive knowledge of the options when we went to sort out some finishing touches. Great experience so far...

Great experience so far with Charles Church. Reservation process was very straightforward and we haven't felt pressurised while our own sale has gone through. The regular photo updates from the site manager on how how the build is progressing is a nice touch. If there's one negative, we'd have liked to have been sent more plans/images/artists impressions of what the house will look like so we can visualise our future home, rather than only seeing the plans at the reservation appointment.

We are very pleased with the purchase of our Charles Church home from start to finish. Everything went smoothly. The sales team was excellent, helpful and full of energy. They were available throughout and went out of their way to ensure that we were fully informed. They were very honest and took a neutral stand: No sales pressure or biased presentation you get from some sales people. This gave us time to reflect and make the decisions that we made without pressure.The site manager and his team were extremely helpful as well. They were always available when we moved in to ensure that our first week in the property was comfortable and worry-free. Any issues we raised were resolved immediately. We liked the idea of the 7-day inspection report. This was useful for reporting any faults and also served as a recording tool for follow-up. The site manager was always available and sometimes resolved issued personally himself. We have warded 4 stars out of 5 because we feel there is room for improvement:1. Some aspects of the property itself did not meet our expectations. For example, we were surprised but not put off by exposed soil stack pipes. Apart from being unsightly, the exposed soil pipes are an obstruction in the paved walk ways.2. The garage location for the neighbour is rather awkward. It is positioned right at the back of the neighbour’s garden, next to our front parking space. Anyone looking at the garage would think it is part our property. This is likely to confuse our visitors who might mistakenly park there.3. It was unfortunate that we could not upgrade our electrical fittings (socket and light switches) because the upgrade material had apparently run out.4. There should be an option to upgrade the bathroom and kitchen if the buyer can afford it and is willing to pay the cost of the upgrade. Overall, the service we received was brilliant. This being the second time we have purchased a new home we are pleased to state that the quality and finish of the property is excellent. Beauty and Darwin Kaluba

Initially we had lots of customer care calls and visits to check everything was OK and to note any snags. Pretty faultless

Pretty faultless. Only issue is a lack of communication with other parties involved in the Mortgage. Not even with Persimmon. This has led to myself having to communicate the same information multiple times across several agents. Got slightly frustrating. I could not fault Charles Church, their sales team nor their after sales team. Francesca from the sales team was a treasure to work and Martin from the after care / snagging team fixed all of the issues I reported (which were not many!) within two weeks. I would recommend Charles Church for any new home purchase. My questions were answered swiftly. Information was given up front before the keys were handed over. The only improvement I would say would to put a bottle of bubbly in the welcome pack. Thank you.

We are very happy with our new build house. It's a lovely house in a lovely development. It has been a long journey due to a couple of sales falling through with our flat. We then decided to take the part ex option which was a seamless process and gave us much peace of mind, and we are very grateful for this. Charles Church have been very professional throughout the process. My negative remark and what stops me from giving 5 stars is that a lot of our snags seem like little things which I think should have been picked up somewhere in the process prior to completion. But having said that, the site managers have been very good and proactive in dealing and fixing these issues.Ben our Sales Advisor was also very professional and helped us out when we found ourselves in tricky situation on completion day! - thanks Ben.
