I purchased a new home from Cala homes…

I purchased a new home from Cala homes in May 2019. We'll designed home and well designed estate. I was very happy with first of all, the part exchange process and secondly my new house. I have left it 3.5 years before leaving a review as Covid restrictions have hampered construction companies amending snagging lists. The home I purchased is and was beautiful when I purchased however, there is always a little snag list to complete. These snags ranged from a little painting to a full re-render and everything in between. Now apart from the work from home time period (about a year to 18 months) Cala homes Customer Services have been great and worked through all issue's with the snags and finally completed all works 3 year's (normally 2 year's) after I moved in. I'd just like to say the home I purchased is not only great quality with design, insulation and fittings but the Aftercare is awesome. For this reason I would not hesitate to purchase a new home again with Cala Homes.

Don’t buy a Cala Home.

We live in a Cala Home in Gullane, East Lothian. It was pre owned and two years old when we bought it in November 2021. At the first sign of wintry weather, the patio doors in our sitting room were draughty and freezing air was coming in along the threshold. We taped all around the doors and placed a towel along the bottom. We reported this to Cala, but due to continued lock-down restrictions, it could not be inspected until the Spring. The same thing happened last year. Technician sealed the bottom of doors with sealant. This has made no difference. At the end of 2022, during a very cold period we again placed a towel along the threshold. Which was wet every day. My curtains were also damp. I contacted Cala again and again, they sent a technician, who shook his head and said he didn’t know what was wrong. Cala subsequently got in touch with me to say that condensation was normal and was to be expected and that was the end of the matter as far as they were concerned. A four year old house with draughts, condensation and a carpet ruined by dampness. I don’t think so. Terrible service and an absolutely disgraceful stance from a second rate builder.

Used refer a friend ticket and was not honoured. When tried to contact they were rude and abrupt and told me they were unable to advise why they would not honour as it would breach GDPR with the other person. what a Joke.

Hazelvine extortion

When are you going to get rid of Hazelvine? Are you oblivious to the reality of their immoral and greed and complicit with the fraud?Update- no response from Cala despite them acknowledging other later posts. Says it all...Cala in their infinite wisdom embedded Hazelvine as the service management company so perhaps they are complicit and in cahoots with Hazelvine. Check Hazelvine ratings/reviews. Cala in utter denial. Buyer beware as its a scam enterprise between the two to rob you of your money. Not sure how Cala can defend such apathy but I guess it's because they have got their money and Hazelvine can keep up the extortion.

Highly Disappointed with customer care

We bought a CALA home back in November 2020. We opted for most upgrades - fully tiled bathrooms, wood floors, etc. We have a major issue with squeaky floors and areas of flooring which need replacing (from their contractor). We gave them a detailed snagging list within a few weeks of moving into the house. The list has still not been fully resolved (over 2 years now). We had to go to NHBC to resolve the outstanding issues. Still in the process and hope it will be done. Their customer services are beyond awful and such a waste of time. They reply politely but consistently and constantly delay the outstanding work! I would recommend a snagging survey before the exchange!

My partner and I have been looking to upsize to our "forever home" and Sunnie Gibb from the Incholm Green development has been nothing short of a pleasure to work with. Her friendly and approachable demeanour truly captivates Cala's values and ethos as a business, which she executes with sheer professionalism. She is an asset to the company as a sales advisor and a representative of the brand. Sunnie has really taken the time to get to know us and make us feel valued as clients. She has listened to our preferences, desires and essentials and brings any developments and plots to our attention that she knows will be of interest to us. We're currently undecided on the development location and cautious with present unpredictable interest rates, however, Sunnie completely understands that we're taking our time to ensure we get the home that's right for us. We're confident that with her assistance, she will lead us to our future "forever home". She is patient, understanding and is always happy to help with anything - big or small. She really is a credit to the company.As investors, we have bought a flat with Cala before and still currently own it. We have never had any issues with the property or the service and it's been nothing short of a pleasure. The brand is all-round luxurious with excellent sales advisors and my partner and I look forward to the day we purchase our Forever Cala Home.

Shocking Communication and Customer Service.

Further to my previous review (and updates)I have had to report our issue with our roof once again as 49 days have now elapsed since my first report of the issue on the 9th November.We now have an actual hole in our lounge ceiling, where the leak has continued to cause damage further. Up to this point, i have had one email from Cala (from a no-reply email), one email from Clarion promising (but not actually bothering) to follow up every week with a call to check on progress.A visit from a sub-contracted roofer - who said that the tray was not put in correctly on construction and is the direct cause of the leak we are experiencing.A visit from a bricklayer, who will have to re-sit the tray and put the area around it correct, prior to the roofer returning to re-lead the wall.Both of which promised to go back to Cala with their findings and then the work would be booked in.Yet here i am - nearly two months later, with no progress, with the exception that every time it rains we are having to mop up the rain that is now coming in through our roof (at a time when i have family to visit for christmas).This has been a shambles from start to finish and the communication from both Cala and Clarion has been nothing short of appalling.Further to this, i called the helpline today - which told me that they are not reopening until Tuesday 3rd January at 8.30am, so i let it transfer me to the 'Emergency helpline' where after being cut off twice, Mike finally decided to take my call and proceeded to tell me on more than one occasion that my 'cover' had expired in January, however i pointed out to him that prior to that, they had been out to 'fix' it and failed and that as such they were still liable. On top of that - they had acknowledged this by sending two contractors to my house to assess the damage. Mike would only say that he would pass this information on for someone to assess if it deemed emergency resolution. So it is not even an emergency helpline, more of a information gathering line.How i feel right now can only be described as 'fuming' and i warn anyone who has any thoughts of taking a property with either Cala or Clarion, to be very aware that dealing with them is never going to be easy and they will blame each other where possible to avoid any detection of culpability.***Shocking communication and Customer Service ***If i could give ZERO Stars i would have.

Cala at Mowbray - plot 157 - rusper road, Horsham

I enquired about plot 157 back in October. The sale price was agreed at £375,000 including amtico flooring all over upstairs/downstairs of the property as I am asthmatic and allergic. I was very appreciative of this as it’s imperative to my health.From the very beginning and as soon as everything was agreed from both ends I was very pressured by Michaela to reserve the plot. She made me very uncomfortable and rushed. She was in denial of her words when I challenged her about the things she was saying to me on the phone about not reserving the plot immediately which I found very unprofessional. Once challenged she then stepped back saying she never said those things etc when she had and that I was misunderstanding which wasn’t the case. She was constantly mentioning that there was another buyer interested in the property and who was an investor so that she needed me to reserve the property immediately. She knew that I was serious and in a strong position and ready to start the process but yet I had her Pressuring me for reserving plot 157 and threating constantly about other interests getting in before me. During this period my father unfortunately went into hospital as he fell really unwell and I am a main carer. I informed them of this and that I was at the hospital the majority of time so I was limited with calls/emails. I was also unable to complete the reservation as the link they provided was only live for 24hours and expires after. They have no sympathy and try to rush customers into decisions. They did not even make best wishes or offer to give me some time during this. As soon as I was then able to make a reservation as my dad was better and my mind was in the right place, which was in the space of no more than 2 weeks they informed me that the terms and conditions they had agreed to with me had changed and that they wouldn’t be including amtico flooring if I wanted to make a reservation still. In the emails we exchanged they were quite rude at times as to when asking questions they would put a load of question marks; this was Wendy..I.e Dear Ms M…..,Thank you for your email.So to answer your question.????My experiences with them has been very bad and stressful as I feel let down. I felt like I had found the perfect house but they have ruined the whole excitement for me. They lied to me as if there was other interests to the property it wouldn’t still be on the market so there was no need for the stress they put me through. They have no care but for themselves and for the business. I raised a complaint and to this day no manager has emailed or called me to make contact and resolve the issue. They are careless and cheats. My advice to anyone looking to buy with them is to be very cautious and not believe them as it’s all fake and short lived till they managed to tie you in.

Might aswel live outside

I love my new home I just wish I didn't have to keep finding things wrong regardless of all the niff naff I have been sat in my home with a 2 year old with a draft in my home. I was told by customer sevices it has got very cold and that they had had to put there heating on aswel! No I have my heating on there are drafts upstairs and downstairs. Last year I had someone come out to check a bedroom window because the glass was no where near the seal and I was right!! No that the temp has dropped I'm sure my other windows are the same. However downstairs in our living room I have told somebody before that there is a draft and they say to endure the handle is pulled up properly!! I got on my hands and knees and there is a gap between the doors! They don't even fit together, you can literally see the snow through the gap! I have a poorly 2 year old and all I am told is your out of defects period!! You built this building the house is under warranty and I have no where in the house to keep my son warm and I don't know what to do as nobody is helping me! I do wish I hadn't gone with cala/catalyst as I am constantly chasing things none of them care 1 bit
