Cannot recommend enough

We looked at a home in the Limsi Grove development (Hertford) and had the pleasure of liaising with Karen, Paul and Andy. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of them - they couldn't do enough to help us with our questions, with accommodating any requests, with sharing knowledge on the area and surroundings. From initial viewing through to the plot meeting, they couldn't have been more attentive; getting to know us as individuals and what was important to us in a home, keeping in contact throughout the process through to answering all of my dad's structural engineering questions about the plot/overall site. They each built a relationship with us (and our daughter) and made it feel like home popping over and we couldn't be more grateful. The houses themselves are beautifully built with care and attention to detail, CALA went out of their way to accommodate a part exchange on our existing home and the team helped us out with solicitor details and any other support we required with the overall process to make a stressful situation as smooth as possible. We can't thank the team enough and would highly recommend CALA to anyone considering the purchase of a new build but particularly the sales team in Hertford who feel like part of the family!

Cala - a team who invest in your personal journey

From the lovely, professional and dedicated Sales Team (particularly Fiona, who I talked to a lot), to the Site Agents (Danny and Tony) and the other team members who visited my home to deal with small snagging concerns, I cannot recommend Cala highly enough. In my opinion, they have a dream-team working at the Balgray Gardens site in Maidenhill and this has contributed to how well I have settled in and how I feel about my new home. In all of my dealings with them, staff have been professional and personable; with no issue posing too much trouble for them to respond to, in a rapid and courteous manner. (I have to underline that I've had very few issues - some paint retouching and marks removed from a door). It really seems like the Cala Team here are a family, and that each person has been personally invested in making my whole experience of moving home/settling-in a very positive one.MOVED-IN MAY 2023

Terrible experience! House wasn’t checked off before we moved in. 42 Major faults found within 10 minutes of opening the front door. Customer services were/ are a waste of time dealing with. Still waiting for jobs to be done 16 months later!!!Tradesmen don’t show up and when they do it’s a poor quality. Worst company i have ever dealt with. Avoid and save yourself a load of worry . 2* builders tops!

Poor aftercare service…

If there was a 0 I would have rated it so. I bought my property in Deepcut Surrey in June 2022. I had an independent snagging report I paid for and even with that it was and has been a nightmare getting things rectified. I might as well say I had the house rebuilt and most of the snagging completed May 2023. The aftercare service is a shambles unless you are persistent like myself and know your rights. You get 2 years warranty with the builder but they duck and dive to rectify anything in the hope you go away. We are supposed to have a 24hour emergency line for faults in the house. That too is a joke as they are rude, unhelpful and unless you have a flood or your life is in danger nothing is deemed an emergency. Good for those who say they have had a good experience as mine certainly has not been pleasant. I have had a smelly bathroom which in the end they realised their builder had forgotten to put the flute on in the loft. That took them 6 months to figure out and a house that smelt like a sewer. I also had a banging noise for 8 months each time the heating was on. After sending out so many people to investigate they finally realised something had not been fitted properly in the pipe work causing pipes to bang together when the heating is on. A new issue today is I have a leaking toilet and the so called emergency service told me the place needs to be flooded before they can call someone out. Absolute joke. This builder has no regard for homeowners just want your money for a rushed build.

FAO : Sales Manager and Operating ManagerI had a wonderful encounter with Angela who is currently selling for Cala at the Maidenhill Development in Newton Mearns.She gave a wonderful initial service which was so impressive it convinced us to only buy our next house with Cala. She was also very helpful in providing information and arranging a visit over to the Stepps property to view another show home. That colleague was also very helpful, I believe her name might have been Anne.We decided to go with a property 8 minutes down the road which is also with Cala, the Jackton development. This was due to being able to secure a larger property saving a wee bit in the process but Angela’s wonderful customer service definitely was a big part of our decision to go with Cala as she gave such a great introduction to your company and we felt that if the enquiry was this lovely and helpful the aftercare would be similar.Please feel free to contact me for more information about my experience.

We have had a fantastic experience so far reserving our new family home at Gilchrist Gardens, Erskine. This process has been a joy to work through and this is largely down the superb customer service by the sales team in the office. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel extremely welcome by Fraz and we really noticed the difference in customer attention to other developers/sites we'd visited. The worst developer?

I'm only giving one star as zero isn't an option.We bought a new Cala Home at Shopwhyke Lakes, Chichester and moved in on 24 June 2022. From day 1 we have had endless build quality and snagging issues all topped of with something so serious it will concern the buyer of any new home - more of that later.We have suffered leaks which resulted in the kitchen ceiling having to be ripped out and replaced. These were caused by wrongly fitted cavity trays.We have suffered leaks in our garage resulting in damage to property.Creaking walls and floors that required walls and ceiling to be cut open. This simply exposed the fact that not enough fixings were used originally.Shelving in a dressing room collapsed due to poor design and fitting.A shower tray had to be removed and refitted due to it 'dropping' on one side. The tray was broken upon removal and we are still waiting for the awful tiling and making good to be fixed.A carpet had to be replaced due to Cala ripping it whilst carrying out other work.We have a list of some 110 issues that would mean I could write here for hours, but I think you see the problem. Shoddy workmanship, awful customer service and a sloppy approach to fixing things.Now for the killer.We have failed mortar. It has been laboratory tested and found to have a ratio of 1:7 in many areas of out house. This is well below NHBC standards that you can find on their website, and something builders should adhere to. Not Cala it seems.And what are they doing about it? Nothing. Denying there is an issue and saying we have 'frost damage' in certain areas. Pure nonsense as experts have told me.Would I buy a Cala house again? Never in a million years.

Hampton Lakes - The A Team!

All of the sales team have been brilliant. Coralie, John, Heather and Kim who we met on handover day. They all care about what is right for the customer. There wasn’t any pressure and we just laughed all the way through. Even with the serious stuff with solicitors etc. The house itself is quality through and through. Yes we have a few snags. It’s built by humans after all. The whole site team are friendly, Rob the site manager is brilliant and efficient. He was handing over a few more houses when I sent an email about the kitchen snags and he still came round even though a quick conversation before my commute to work I said only when you have time (and he made time). Fixed what he could fix there and then and has put the new bits on order. I bumped into my old neighbours and have recommended Cala to them (we’d love to get all of our old neighbours up to this bit!). Everybody who has come round is so impressed with the finish of the house and the overall development. We can’t recommend Cala enough. From start to finish and all the in between!

Fantastic Experience and Perfect Home - Cala Wintringham

I’ve left leaving a review until almost 2 months in as I wanted to leave an honest opinion of the whole experience from start to finish. 5* to the Cala Wintringham team.We visited Cala Wintringham in February 2023 time and went with an open mind of house style. Lynn was extremely helpful in showing us around houses, telling us about Cala, the whole development and the specific houses. Lynn was very knowledgeable and we viewed with her a few times until we decided on our chosen house. To mention, we bought a home already built and fitted so we had no choice in specific colours and fittings, but loved the kitchen and style selected by Cala.In the mean time, Ryan was very helpful in answering any questions we had over the phone and via email about life at Wintringham, development information and the more specific questions about timelines. The team were knowledgeable, helpful and not pushy (unlike some local estate agents to the area that we had experienced).After reserving the Buckden style home (4 bedroom), Cala were great with sending out the information to solicitors, and answering our questions about the home and specifics in the paperwork. At this point, the only negative I would associate with the process is the solicitors which Cala recommended. This was through no fault of their own, but the effort these solicitors put in was abysmal. Previous solicitors had been helpful, timely, and felt like they wanted to get your answers, but Duffield weren’t too great. Having said that, Cala Wintringham made up by regularly checking in with them and often helping with answers that people had clearly asked before. Shout out goes to Ryan and Martin here, helpful and friendly all the way through. They also accommodated a relative passing by the site and viewing the home, thank you.We picked up our keys with a mini home demo with Ryan who was thorough in showing us around the house in a quick manner. The week after we had a full home demo with the site team who sorted a few small things like water pressure and a catching door. The day after we submitted our snags which were a short list and mainly decorative. John Benton is FANTASTIC and him and his team sorted the majority within days, punctual and polite considering we work from home and were on calls - thank you John, you are a credit to the site. Overall points:Cala Wintringham team were great in showing us the selection of homes on offerFantastic knowledge across the whole teamReservation and sale process easy and helpful House was of a high standard on move in with minor snagsAll snags sorted very quickly and to a good standard.ClosingOriginally not set out to buy a new build and finding the property on Rightmove, we are over the moon with our choice. Originally after hearing some stories about new builds I was wary, but it seems the general consensus on the whole Wintringham development is that Cala are an exception. When viewing other developers on Wintringham’s site the staff were pushy, not as knowledgeable and the houses are not the same standard. I know some people on a developer next door have hundreds of snags and struggled to get resolutions, amongst smaller sized gomes for the same price.Cala boasts larger than average rooms and a feeling of luxury, that is what sold us. The team have been great. Happy with our Wintringham, St Neots home.
