My experience of buying a £515k home has been soured by the poor customer service of Cala homes east. I have been extremely measured in the defects that I have raised with customer service, only raising defects which I really can't resolve myself - in the hope that this builds some good will with Cala. I have defended Cala's customer service before in public forums and I've looked past issues up to now - including the builders leaving a can filled with urine behind the tiles in my bathroom, which had to be found by a contractor sent out to investigate a foul smell. Unfortunately, Cala has proven that their good customer service only lasts a year. I raised the issue of part of my roof having fallen off, and provided pictures showing that it was never installed properly in the first place - it had just been wedged on, and it took some strong winds to blow it off. The screw in the ridge-end could never have been connected to anything and simply went into a void. Because I reported this after a storm, they have said it's storm damage and not their responsibility to fix - I would be absolutely happy to repair genuine storm damage myself, but for Cala to be so unwilling to investigate a genuine defect is shocking. They refuse to engage in any further dialogue - despite not even having inspected the issue - saying "I have made you aware of the position of Cala homes. I now see this matter as closed."

From buying our house just over 2 years ago to working with Calas painting contractors Paul and George recently to finish our painting snagging it's been easy.I would caveat that changing customer service managers numerous times from Cala in the 2 years was very fustrating and I evidence of being re-asked for snagging lists as previous manager had moved on wasn't great but that isn't a reflection on the wider site team and contractors.David from site was great, I kept him on his toes for sure and all contractors in our house have been great. HavingPaul and George here for the last three days has been easy, very lovely guys, very tidy and great banter. Nothing was an issue despite me checking their work (I think they enjoyed my eagle eye)- it really helps make Cala stand apart from other builders who I have had experience with.Thanks all for giving us a great experience. Now when are you putting the lovely suds pond in behind our house that was mentioned, Frankie

Undoubtedly the worst customer service I have ever received (after sales care). Cala were great up until the point of signing over to “customer service” which is quite clearly a gimmick because they simply do not care. I have spent over ONE YEAR going back and fourth with Cala over several things, it took them 10 months to fit a piece of glass above my front door even though it was promised to be done 2 days after we completed on the property, 3 times they ordered and tried to install a piece of glass that was the wrong size - in the end we gave them the correct dimensions for them to order. The past 14 months I have been trying to come to a resolution with Cala for my garden, which Cala very kindly included a free pond on the patio!! Cala admitted the garden patio was their mess up as there is insufficient drainage and the slabs are laid incorrectly which results in 5cms of water pooling on the patio and up against my house and patio doors. Cala promised a resolution to our issues providing we give them outstanding feedback on their survey which we did but have now gone back on their word and will not complete the promised work. So do not believe their rating they so heavily rely on, as it will all be based on bribery. I would love to know how many Cala employees have purchase a Cala home after seeing the quality of the homes… I have sent numerous complaint emails to CEO’s which just get passed back down the chain to the “customer service” team, quite frankly I think a bunch of monkeys could handle my complaint better than these lot. Do not make the mistake we did and waste your time and hard earned money on a Cala home.

Joiner Connor Campbell attended for the second time today since we moved last Feb to deal with minor issues with our internal doors. Arrived on time and was very pleasant and helpful. Martin and Ryan at Cala -Wintringham are assets to Cala. Where we've had teething problems here and snags there they have moved heaven and earth to get things resolved for us. Whether it's pushing for completion with solicitors and mortgage lenders to more trivial stuff like ensuring that snags in the house are sorted no task is too big or too small. I dread to think what we'd have done without them. They're absolutely fantastic and I know I've already said it but they're absolutely brilliant and such assets to Cala.

This is our second home with Cala. We have had a great experience with Cala. From the time we first emailed them to see a show home to completing the purchase, we had no complains or a negative response from them. Geraldine who looked after the sale was one of the primary reasons our experience was so good. She was very very accommodative in showing us the house multiple times. She did show us options and we decided on one. Our after sale and moving in experience was elevated because of the Site Manager - Mathew Russell. We have never seen another wonderful human being who is so helpful. We are so glad that we got to meet this wonderful team and a builder such as Cala. We have lived in a Cala property before this for 7 years and now with a Cala again and will be with Cala for our next as well. The build quality is so good. My dad who is a civil engineer and from a construction business looked at the quality and said the materials used and structurally it is really really good. Thank you Cala and team for making our experience so memorable.

I’ve just bought a house at Roman park . This was my first time buying a new build and in my experience the process has been great . Geraldine from the sales side was lovely keeping me informed at every stage sending updates and pictures. The move in was seamless , the house demonstration by Matt the site manager was very thorough . The snags that I did have were dealt with quickly . Matt kept in touch with visits and updates always checking in to make sure I was ok and happy.

Everything went well until we had to close the snagging list.We moved to our cala home in Lenzie three years ago and still have several outstanding items to close. They have ignored us for months. They don’t finish snagging jobs they start and leave you with jobs half way done for months.We complained about the noise in our living room when water is flushed from the upstairs bathrooms and their solution has been to add a little bit of insulating material in the living room corner ceiling. Nothing has changed, the horrible noise is still there. We know they have applied a different solution, involving changing the bathroom down pipe layout, to our neighbour who has the same house than us but they refuse to do that in our house simply because it is too much work to them.Our front garden soil is in a very poor condition till a point that nothing apart from grass can be planted. The subsoil is full of coarse fragments from the construction and not in compliance with the NHBC recommendation and BS standards. We emailed them about this on 08 September 2023 and we are still waiting for a response.Similarly the heat pump plumbing is incorrect and we are still waiting for them to correct it.To finish, they forgot to do any landscaping to the side of our house as per the plan and they keep telling us every year that they will do it. Three years later and nothing done.If you want to wait years to get things done then buy a Cala home!

We moved in to our new home at Roman Park Tring at the end of November. The whole process from start to finish has been a very positive experience. From Geraldine in the sales office to Matt and Connor the site Manager. Over the first few weeks we found a couple of minor snagging issues. These were reported to Matt and sorted out very quickly and to our complete satisfaction. Cannot fault the team and would have no hesitation in recommending Cala Homes.

We are currently in the process of purchasing a house at this development, and the sales team (Emma, Lizzi and Fraz) have really impressed us with their knowledge about the development and our individual house style. They have given prompt responses to any queries we have had and kept us up to date with progress on the build including photos and videos which were really appreciated. It was also very helpful to be provided with tile and worktop samples to assist us in choosing flooring for our new home. Furthermore,we were also very impressed with the level of detail given to us by the site manager Pat during the IGM relating to our plot and the development as a whole. Our current property was also built by Cala and we were very keen to buy another as the standard specification and build quality is far superior to any of the other housebuilders. Overall, we have had a very positive experience so far and are very much looking forward to moving into our new home soon.
