GoogleI recently had a viewing with Alex, for a property I was interested in. Alex was so lovely and smiley (even under the pouring rain) and made me feel really comfortable. The viewing went well and she managed to answer my questions and has been reactive through messages. Alex was professional and friendly which made me feel at ease. GoogleThe most amazing, easy experience for first time students looking to rent. The staff are so so friendly and genuine, giving us video viewings of all the properties (and also in person viewings which were very efficiency planned.) With lots of flexibility, as students it's hard to find free time. We now have the perfect property to suit us, in the perfect location. Thank you to staff, in particular Steve and Alex, were so professional and yet so helpful, funny and kind. Really made moving so much easier and stress free! -Pickles & Co.

GoogleI am a student and I was looking for a house to rent this year for my friends and I and Piers was the agent who helped us look fir the perfect house. He was extremely patient as well as going the extra mile to help us understand how much we’d be paying etc as I found everything quite overwhelming at first! But he answered any questions and always had quick responses. Very grateful for the amount of effort he put in to helping us find this house, all the girls are very happy!!

GoogleI genuinely couldn’t be more pleased with my experience at Martin & Co. As a uni student who has no prior experience of renting a property, this was completely new to me. The staff, in particular Piers who dealt with us in particular, was friendly and committed to finding us what we really wanted. They were always there trying to find exactly what you wanted, and most important patient as I know this process can be quite challenging and long. We are over the moon with the property we’ve found and it’s all thanks to the amazing team at Martin and co, and committed staff that there were all the way. Thank you!

GoogleAs a student in Winchester, I and my group were very pleased with the letting service which Piers from Martin & Co provided. We were shown around 4 properties and whenever we had a question he was always happy to answer them for us, he was also transparent on the pros and cons of each property which helped us to decide which own to go for. Piers was also very welcoming and friendly and we are delighted to now have a property for the new academic year.

TrustpilotI would not recommend Martin and Co for…
I would not recommend Martin and Co for students. At my last tenancy they took the vast majority of my deposit leaving me with no money for things that were unfair. My last tenancy that ended this July. I tried to dispute money that was being taken off my deposit, to only be ignored and the money taken off and my deposit returned. I then find it from another housemate wasn’t charged. Additionally as a third year student I was left without wifi for almost a month with no compensation and never told that there would be people coming into the house. We were all shocked to know that there was a random man in our house try be replied with from martin snd co “as you only rent your room and not the house we don’t have to tell you”. However, the contract I signed says very different and only tell us about viewings in 24 hours notice for their own convenience. If you have problems they don’t deal with it but as soon as they have an issue they don’t care about you.
Dear Katie, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you are dissatisfied. As you are aware, the end of tenancy review and any associated costs are decided upon the basis of comparison of the inventory report from the start of the tenancy and the checkout report at end of tenancy. This methodology is industry best practice, to try and make this process as independent and fair as possible. The checkout report included the following in relation to your room, hence the landlord deemed some proportionate cleaning cost a justified deduction. "Spot stains Light debris Some furniture indentations Red marks above bed on facing wall Discoloured paint to facing wall corner Scuffs to right and rear wall Smear mark to right of door on rear wall Dusty and grubby Mould spotting to corners Scuffs and chip to top left corner" With regard to viewings, there were no viewings of any bedrooms without advance notice. In a house let room by room, as you mention, you may encounter an accompanied viewer in a communal area, while viewing a different room. With regard to internet, I very much appreciate the frustration of some internet quality of service issues with the service provider. As you will appreciate, as property managers, we can raise issues with the service provider, but are in their hands on diagnosis and remedy of the issue. We have 24 hour 7 day telephone support for tenancies and an in house property management team, supported by a wide range of local contractors. Through these teams we aim to deal with property management issues as rapidly as possible. We do appreciate the frustration when internet service is disrupted or unreliable. GoogleI'd been looking to move into my first property as a professional and have had plenty of concerns, aswell as being in a slightly different situation to some. Molly Edmondson however has been excellent in assisting me through the process and answering all of my questions. She also went the extra mile (pun intended) kindly offering to drive me closer to home after multiple well-conducted house viewings. Overall, I'm very pleased with how easy she has made what I find to be quite a stressful process.

GoogleAlex was so friendly and helpful and helped myself and my best friend find a house that was in a good location, and had what we wanted for the best price. GoogleI had an unfortunate experience. Could someone please respond to my emails and provide an update regarding the status of the deposit? I have not received any replies to my inquiries. I have vacated the property and require the funds to secure a deposit elsewhere. Unfortunately, there has been no communication regarding my emails, and I have been waiting for weeks without assistance.

I felt like I was informed of all the things I need to know like the price of deposits, monthly rent of the house, the number of tenants in each house and having me to meet the landlord of one of the properties. GoogleHad a few issues with Martin & Co right off the bat which had me unsatisfied with their customer service. However, this turned out to be due mostly to an individual member of staff that no longer works for the company. Julian has since been in contact with me to remedy any grievances I had with the company. He clearly cares about his clientele and maintained accountability while offering explanations as to how some misunderstandings came about. Ultimately very happy with the quality of service offered.

GoogleAs an international student, this is my first time living in a country with a language barrier. I am full of anxiety and helplessness. When I was looking for a house at the beginning, I even encountered a scam from a Chinese agent. Later, I was fortunate to meet Martin & Co. They did not take a negative attitude because I was a foreigner. Instead, they were more careful and considerate in helping me, and even helped me find a higher-than-expected house. Surprisingly, when my classmates learned that I cooperated with Martin & Co, they all praised their service professionally and reliably, which made me trust them even more and removed the shadow of scams I encountered before. Thanks to Steve & Jenna for their kindness and sincerity, because of them, I can find a comfortable and beautiful home in a foreign land.

GoogleSteve at Martin & Co has been extremely helpful since moving into my shared property last year. I had issues with not having a desk in my room, being a student this is a must; he ensured when I came back after going home for Christmas, this was arranged for me. He is very reliable and cares about customers and tenants. If I or my house mates have had any issues, he has supported me us and solved whatever has been wrong. Steve has been reliable since I moved in and if I have any issues I go straight to him. Francesca

GoogleAlex had been an excellent staff looking after us in trying to secure a property I liked. She was proactive and very responsive and ensured we were kept in the loop throughout the process. Sometimes she works till late while updating us late nights via email. She’s (Alex) worked around my awkward time schedule and accommodated to all my needs.
