I was looking for a rental property in…

I was looking for a rental property in the Hemel Hempstead area of Hertfordshire and found that a lot of the estate agents that I dealt with were not very efficient in finding me what I wanted and were literally making me decide to buy a property instead of renting one. However one person was very helpful and knew all the relevant information on the property we were viewing and was extremely helpful in trying to find us somewhere within our price range. I am 73 years old and disabled and this lovely person was very patient with me too. Her name was Ellie and she worked from the Hemel Hempstead branch of Imagine Estate Agents.

Quite simply brilliant-Paul helped us along the way with our whole purchase, even to the point of helping when it wasn't really anything to do with him-showing us guidance, advice and little pointers here and there. Most impressively, he seemed in-tune with what we really wanted, and we ended up buying a house we'd never have believed we could buy. Buying a home is very stressful, so it was fantastic to have these guys at the end of the phone, regardless of how silly my questions were!

Unprofessional Behaviour

The keys were given to the buyers without our consent, even though we had instructed them to hold off until the full set of keys was received. Glenn, the area director, released the keys, and Jamie, the Watford branch manager, shifted the blame onto the solicitors and us for their unprofessional actions. If the area director and branch manager act this way, what can we expect from the rest of the team?

Paul Markey unfortunately let the team down. I’m presuming he’s just started his career so his inexperience has resulted in some poorly judged, unprofessional behaviour. Real shame as we initially liked Paul and mentioned giving them more business in the future yet definitely one to avoid now sadly. Context - We decided to proceed with another property that was on sale with a different estate agent instead of Paul’s property. He wasn’t happy… “Thank you for wasting my time and also now having to have a very awkward conversation with my owner…. Lets hope for your sake you don’t get messed around like we have but if there is such a thing as property karma it may well happen. Think we can end this here” No commission on this one I’m afraid 😉

In particular, Glen Smith from Watford (WD18 0FQ) branch was excellent from the start helping us to get set up for the process, being very considerate, supportive and accommodating. Secondly, Jake Forrest from Watford (WD25 9NQ) branch has been brilliant. We had a house to sell in Hemel Hempstead and had used 2 local Estate Agents in the town who both had good reputations. The first simply wasn't particularly interested and the second just wanted us to keep dropping the price until it would be enough of a bargain to a purchaser. I know MIke Cole the owner of Imaging Estate Agents Group and his team at Imagine WD25 led by Jason Baker, and although they were out of the area, they gave an honest assessment of the likelihood of a sale. Jason led the team and was present at a few viewings before handing over to Jake and eventually Chris Mullen who we mostly dealt with. The viewing were always with one of the three, never "weekend" staff so they had a good knowledge of the property and location. They always gave feedback after the viewings and when an acceptable offer was made, they guided the whole process with thorough professionalism and care. Chris in particular was superb in letting us know what was happening every step of the way. Imagine Estate Agents are really a huge step ahead of their competition in delivering exceptional levels of customer service to their customers and I would have no hesitation in recommend them to everyone I know. Dealt with Imagine branch WD25 in particular Tej Panesar, excellent communication from start to finish even went above and beyond to secure a the sale for us. She went out of her way to make sure everyone in the chain was on the same wave length, definitely put in the extra hours to secure the sale and keep all customers happy. Sold the house through another agent but it was Tej doing all the ringing around making sure everybody was updated weekly.
