CALA Jordanhill - Don’t buy!!!

Cala is living on their past reputation of being a good builder. Bought a 5 Bedroom home from them, and it’s obvious no quality control whatsoever.Every pane of glass is scratched - 2 months in, still not fixed.Fitted Kitchen falling apartStaircases need to be re-installed.Stair rails have a manufacturers defect and wobble badly. No replacement.Drywall bulging, needs cutting outNo fireproofing where pipes installed, so no 1 hour fire barrier.Heating system has issues because all the thermostats can’t actually monitor temperature changes.House needs a complete repainting done because they thinned what they had to almost water.Speaking of water - if we’re lucky we get 6 litres a minute water flow. And no pressure. The whole development is suffering this issue, but they blame the water company.Turns out Cala installed a water system that requires 20 Litres a minute, in an area that can’t sustain 10Litres a minute.Sales / Construction staff will lie to your face. And to incoming new buyers. Our snag list of over 210 items, currently stands at 195 after 12 weeks.Don’t buy from Cala! That’s all I can say

Our first home experience

All Cala colleagues at Jocelyn Gardens have been absolutely outstanding with us while buying our first home! They have been extremely understanding, flexible and have went totally above and beyond every step of the way. Although the demands on all colleagues there are extremely high, they’ve made us feel like we’re the only clients they have- a wonderful experience from start to finish. From a company perspective, I would also comment that the quality of the homes, upgrade options and standard offerings are exceptional.

discrimination

All I have to say is discrimination to social housing made to feel so little just because you live in social housing and the people on site look at you and speak to you like you are worthless and every time you tell carla this it'd ignored just because I live in a social housing doesn't make them better than me at least I was taught to respect all sorts of people and not judge carla must have there own hand book in discrimination they don't even want to fix anything even when your property is in warranty its disgusting the way they treat people I told one lady who works for them about the people on site and she turnt round and said just ignore them how the earth can you ignore people that are working on your door step I don't know. the right answer would of been ok I will talk to the site manager and get them to have a word clearly all they care about is money 💰 it makes you feel so worthless think all the staff need training in discrimination

Constant battle.

Moved into my property in august 2020 but told CALA that I was unhappy with the garden do to it being cut a week before we moved in and being just being left ontop. When we got the keys to the property it was still lying there. Due to this our grass was completely ruined. Cala reassured me this would be sorted. I have been fighting the battle for 19 months now to get it sorted. It was agreed that this would be re turfed due to us spending a lot of money trying to rectify there problem whilst we awaited someone to come out. Cala have now told us this will only be soiled and fed. This was not the agreement! On top of this I know three houses on our road which have had there grass completely relaid. I would like to add several has had there’s relaid and one was even out of end of defect!!The response I have had is disgusting and I am still fighting a loosing battle!

Cala Homes is lying, deceitful rogue trader

Cala Homes is a rogue trader that has developed a truly slick sales process that fools everyone into believing that Cala Homes is a reputable company. Once you've bought a house, you realise how poorly constructed it is, and worse, that Cala Homes simply don't care about customers once they've got your money. They completely ignore emails and phone calls of reported faults, the trades they send in damage your property and Cala refuse to repair the damage. 18 months after buying our Cala home we have seen through all of the lies, the deception and the shoddy workmanship and would NEVER EVER recommend Cala Homes to anyone, unless you want a miserable experience.UPDATE: 19 April 2022.So the reply below is typical of Cala Homes. Despite the complete shambles, never answering emails or phone calls, their reply implies that they are actually working to resolve the issues when they are doing absolutely nothing and still haven't acknowledged my texts or replied to many emails.The other shocking issue that has been made apparent is that, once you buy a Cala Home, that you now have to accept the (many, many) trades people who are sent into your home AT YOUR OWN RISK. Cala Homes declared to us last week that it is the responsibility of the home owner to pay for repairs of any damage that the trades people cause to your property when they are carrying out work instructed by Cala Homes. This is a change of policy since previously Cala Homes were more than happy to repair any damaged items. I do actually suspect that Cala Homes has issued this statement without due legal consideration. However this new declaration by Cala Homes has left us with a wrecked garden chair that cost us £250 which they have refused to replace since 'there is no evidence that the tradespeople caused the damage'. So by this logic, the only way you will ever get your possessions repaired is if you had photographic, dated evidence of every single possession you ever owned. Utterly ridiculous.This is why I state again that Cala Homes is a rogue trader.

24 Rosemount 2 bed flats

The sales team are well informed and helpful. The only irritation is that the upper floors on the development were not supposed to be available but when I said I was interested in reserving a flat on floor 3 and when could I do that I was told that the only flat I was interested in had already been reserved. This is not good practice and very disappointing. I am at the moment now considering whether or not I will buy in this building.I am sure many people will take the decision not to.

Bought a house from Cala Homes a couple of years ago now. Looks fantastic when you are being shown around and they cannot do enough for you in the first two weeks you move in. When snagging I highly recommend you bring in a professional company. The longer it gets after you bought the house the less Cala will care. Do not complete there survey they constantly badger you for until you are entirely happy with the house. Id even wait on it for months because they will be alot more helpful.

I bought my home in Nov 2019, there were numerous problems. They even messed my garage and there was damping in the floor. They didn’t informed me about it until I moved in. Takes very long time to fix problems. And I had a leak from a tap, it took them ages to fix. Recently I had to call them asking to fix the wood swollen up due to this leak and they washed their hand saying I am outside warranty period and this were not their fault.We buy out dream home spending huge money and the building companies cheat us on things like these. I wouldn’t recommend Cala homes.Not a good experience.

Really appalling

Really appalling. The show homes look lovely but the quality and finish of our home was terrible. We had a list of hundreds of snags (including some quite substantial that require half the kitchen to be removed and reinstalled, flooring to be pulled up and relaid etc) and nearly a year later we're still waiting for them to be addressed. We've been passed round multiple different cala representatives, taken hours and hours off work showing each of them the snags (all of which they have agreed need addressing) because apparently they are incapable of taking notes or communicating with each other, then get fobbed off when it come go actually doing the work. In the latest installment of the sorry saga, we waited 4 months for them to 'order parts and book in contractors' so the snags could all be addressed in one go while we moved out with out 2 young children, only to find they hadn't ordered half the parts or booked in half the contractors, something that they only told us as we were just about to move back in, expecting everything to have been done. They also didn't book cleaners in for once they had finished as they had agreed to do, and have at no point apologised for their appalling customer service. We're now facing moving out yet again with our 2 small children at some point in the future in the hope they can actually get their act together and do the work. I really would strongly recommend against buying a cala home. Our experience has been so bad that we actually plan to sell ours and move elsewhere which is a shame as the area and our neighbours are lovely.

Water marks on ceiling caused by a previous leak

We recently noticed some water marks on the ceiling in our En Suite. Eric came to investigate these marks. He put new dust sheets down on the floor before he began. He made a great job of the ceiling, cleaning up and making everywhere clean and tidy. Eric’s work is very professional and such a polite man.
