Been with Cala for about 7 months now

Been with Cala for about 7 months now. Everything has been fairly smooth, moving in and getting the snags sorted. Definitely helps that I’ve been able to work from home during these times. I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about Cala Customer Care after the initial handover, but our experience has actually been very positive. For the few small snags we’ve had, I called in the days I was going to be at home and contractors on-site would nip round and get the job done.Appreciate George Fisher for coming round to do a touch up for us very promptly and professionally. Martin Sword has also been great to work with, though worth noting because of how many plates he is juggling at once, it’s always worth sending gentle reminders and follow-ups in various asks.

Promise Not Kept and No Response!

So disappointed with Cala Homes... When we bought our house in Roydon from Cala 27 years ago I was really pleased with them and thought them to be one of the best builders in the UK.However, a section of land at the entrance to Little Brook Road was to be transferred from Cala to the residents, but we have since discovered that this was not done and Cala have now sold the land on. Was it legally theirs to sell? Assuming the transfer had been processed, the residents have been paying into a management company which paid for the maintenance of this land, and have done so for over 27 years.Little Brook Management have had no response from Cala on this matter to date. Not the level of customer service one would have expected from Cala?

Excellent customer service

This is a review of Cala Homes in Wolvercote Mill (Oxford), Chiltern region. We are 18 months into our two year guarantee on our new home and are very happy with how Cala have responded to any issues which have arisen. Ritu in the Chiltern office is an absolute star, always lovely and super efficient when I call or email her, and excellent at coordinating any necessary works with contractors, making it as convenient as possible for us. The different contractors have been professional and effective. Special thanks to Richard who works for Cala and who has done various fixes and making good around the house, for his friendliness and the quality of his work.

Great experience, outstanding customer service. It's been a pleasure to deal with Cala at Maidenhill, Newton Mearns. Exceptionally well built property; very little in the way of snagging - the small issues that were reported to Cala were dealt with quickly and effectively by Claire. Special thanks to Andrew Galloway who visited us to repair a small defect on the kitchen door; his attention to detail and communication was excellent, we are very happy with the outcome. Full marks to everyone at Cala, including Billy the site manager, too.

CALA - NOT TO BE TRUSTED

I live in Little Brook Road, Roydon where the residents and Management Committee, (MC) are in dispute over open space land that should have been ceded to its' residents over 20 years ago. Instead, Cala sold this land, potential illegally to a third party without our knowledge. Since recently coming to light, Cala have shown nothing but contempt and disrespect to the MC and residents in their handling of this issue. Communication by their Customer Services is virtually nonexistent despite being forewarned that only recently the land was to be sold a further time to another third party. This is land whose maintenance and upkeep has been paid for by the residents for well over 20 years. If you are thinking of buying a Cala property I'd advise you to think again. They cannot be trusted. CALA ARE DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED.

Cala and their sales team were…

Cala and their sales team were fantastic throughout the process. Toni and her predecessor Rosie were very professional from the initial contact right through to the end. Not only does the place look great they were very kind to throw in a few extra freebies ( including furniture) Toni ( and Cala) were especially kind and understanding when our payments were capped by my online bank meaning that we ended up being a few days late for key handover. I highly recommend buying a Cala home and do make sure to make the initial contact with Toni.

Thanks for great after-sales service

Over the 2 year period since we moved into our new house we have received consistently good service from the Chiltern Customer Service Team.Christina has been the consistent link to Cala and has organised snagging fixes promptly and efficiently. As we exit the 2 year period I will certainly miss being able to rely on knowing that she will arrange for the tradespeople to visit. The most recent visit by Robert to fix a garage door handle issue was a good example of how smoothly we've received the after-sales service.

Incredible service by Lee & Lydia

Unbelievable service from Lee & Lydia - phoned up to report a few defects to Lydia in customer service, having been in the property for 18 months now, and literally within less than 5 minutes Lee was at the door to solve them. He came in to do one job in the kitchen, and also solved an issue we’ve been having with the front door that several carpenters have failed to fix. Not to mention he’s a really nice guy! Incredible service!

The most lovely Painter Ever

I met George today when he came to go over my snagging , I had just been through a dramatic experience with a older man four days prior, on the day George came , I had just bumped into this man on a walk with my dog and was very shaken , I had forgotten that a painter was booked in and when I opened the door to George I just burst out crying , George was amazing, making sure he didn’t enter my house until I had pulled myself together , he even suggested I rebook when I was feeling up to it , I didn’t want to rebook as I got a feeling that this was going to be a distraction for me , he them came in and started painting however every so often he would check in with me to make sure I was ok , it was so nice being able to talk to a stranger about what I have been going through , he did a amazing job with my downstairs area , however he confirmed he would require another college to help him do the rest of the floors due to my house being a Town House, when George left I called Cala and spoke to the lovely Vicky , I explained what George had said about requiring another college to complete the work , I asked Vicky if George could come back with another college as he made me feel so comfortable in my own house , as the incident that occurred prior had occurred in my house , George is due back next week with his colleague to complete the other two floors and I will have no hesitation on opening my door, Thanks George for making my experience of a stranger in my house so much easier than I ever imagined,.what a true Gentleman.

Jenny always went above and beyond to answer all our questions and make us feel welcome at the sales office. She is a true brand ambassador as such I would like to acknowledge all her hard work and dedication to ensuring we had a stress free house buying process. This review is not for CALA Homes but for one of their employees. In fact if I had to give Cala Homes a review it would be 1 star. We’re two years in our home and it was torture getting our snags looked at and fixed and we still have outstanding issues that haven’t been addressed. But on this occasion their employee, George Fisher who came out to tidy up a few unfinished painting works was absolutely brilliant. Not only did he correct all the issues he went above and beyond and had some great chat, thanks George!

Kingsmere and Fritwell

Myself and my mother have brought homes from two different Cala sites in the last year. My experience was very positive with the Kingsmere site - special thanks for Gabriella (site manager) who listens well and 'gets things done'. I thought the customer service team were also very good, however then I met Geraldine at Fritwell !! Geraldine from start to finish was a real superstar keeping me and mum updated throughout, she went over and above to help my elderly mother out . Her kindness and way of speaking to my mum was lovely to watch. Special mention to site managers Liam and Louis, a great team! They were always on hand and asking if there's anything they can do to help mum, explain things to her and when there was a problem (rarely) they got things sorted. We love our Cala homes. I also have to mention when you're handed over to customer services they are effecient and helpful, too many ladies to name but special mention to Cheryl .

Aftercare was bad

Aftercare was bad. Still waiting 4 yrs on for a door to be replaced . Boiler valves blocked in corner by kitchen cabinets which didn’t realise until out of the 2 yr contract so Cala wouldn’t change even though manager on seeing acknowledged should be higher so as to reach. I had to cut cabinets to reach them . I suggest getting paid snagging inspection when buying as many things you don’t notice when first moving in.

It's the little things ......

Christina and Richard resolved a minor but irritating defect with the front door seal with quiet efficiency. It was a simple job well handled. Thank you.The site in Benson is coming to an end and Westpoint Construction, the contractors, are finishing off the roads, which unfortunately have been delayed for some while due to the Village Relief Road being built. The Westpoint team have been helpful, cheerful and polite, often working in vile weather, and we will quite miss their being around. Well done Cala and Westpoint.
