I am being bullied by a Chestertons estate agent in respect of viewing the flat I occupy lawfully I have not even been in the property for 50% of the length of my contract (break clause) yet he was insisting that due to the short length of the contract he has a right to disturb my peaceful enjoyment of the property. I have already said no & he called again to bully me. This is harassment & I am writing this as part of my record keeping should this matter end up in court,I am simply not prepared to have people disturbing more than 50% of my contractual term. People wondering in & out of my space, nosing around in my wardrobes cupboards fridge freezer under the bed, footsteps all over my floors & rugs, disturbing my peace, & im paying rent that’s higher than the asking price which thankfully is unlawful with the new laws protecting tenants I ask Chestertons not to contact me again til the end of my contract is imminent A short contract of 9 months does not give you the right to break the law, I have a right a legal right to family life (article 8) & to the peaceful enjoyment of my property that I’ve paid to occupy, The landlord has expected me to take his mail to the concierge as if I’m his slave. They did not repair the TV in my room I had to buy a new one - he ignored my message re the tv, he argued that it worked when it clearly did not & now this. I’ve paid rent, I do not expect to be treated as if I’m living in a grace & favour flat, If Chestertons attend my premises without my permission I will call the police. It would be trespassing & harassment Theirs & the landlords financial interest do not delete my human rights nor the protection I have under the law. This is an attempt to drive me out of the premises early by making my stay untenable by forcing me to spend half of my time here in discomfort- this is harassment which is a criminal offence. Please stop. I deserve my peace. I’ve paid for it. I had to bid for this property because Chesterton said they received other offers & I had to bid way above the asking price. I’ve lived with no privacy as the blinds (mechanised) do not fully work exposing me to the outside world. Several emails I sent about this were ignored. Please stop bullying me & treating me like a squatter. Also I have developed a medical condition & been to A& E twice. I have a hospital appointment for further investigation in the coming weeks, however today after the agent called me & tried to force entry by telling me I had fewer rights due to the term of my contract I have begun to feel worse with pain spreading all over & I am going to A & E again. This is as a direct result of this insistent agent who only cares about prioritising his finacial interest. Should this matter go to court I will include pain & suffering in my claim for damages.

TrustpilotTerrible service to Landlords’ and Tenants’
Chesterton’s is the third property agent I have used. I have been with them for two years since they bought out the agent I was working with for over 15 years. The experience has been appalling for me as landlord and my tenants. I am not sure if it is incompetence or that the team is understaffed and they cannot cope with the number of properties they manage. My contract said they would inspect the property twice a year. They have only been once in the two years. Communication has been frustrating. Emails unanswered, messages left with no call back. Issues with the tenants left until the tenants got understandably hysterical. (And then they have the gall to charge a % fee for any repair work). In short the last two years have been the most stressful in 20 years of letting. Big clearly is not better! Don’t believe the guff about how professional they are.

After recently buying a flat through James Pendelton, I managed to have it rented out 1 week later. My move in coordinator, Suzan Salih, was exceptional. She was very prifessional and calming. She worked with me to achieve the necessary steps, checks, certificates, etc., and what needed to be done to create a perfectly smooth move in on a very tight schedule. Highly recommend.
