I had an exceptional experience working with Julie Decraene throughout my house purchase. From start to finish before passing onto the next agent for the further process of buying my house, her service was nothing short of outstanding. She made what can often be a stressful and complicated process feel smooth, straightforward, and incredibly efficient.

Awful experience

Awful experience. Poor repairs. Illegal eviction - should have been a section 8 as landlord was selling up and tried to use the deposit for renovating the property into a HMO. Hunters also charged the previous tenants for professional cleaning which we were told would be happening in the first week or so of moving in. It didn't. They then tried to charge us for the same service. Wonder how many customers they do this to. Also charging for items not on the property but given to a neighbor, and later thrown out by him on his own garden area q(he advised landlord and hunters it was his to get rid of). They have identified it as formerly mine from property inspection photos which legally should not be taken of my possessions. Con artists. Pending further action.

Hunters have recently taken over the lettings management of my property in Castleford following the end of a long-term tenancy. Led by James Czibor, the property was let, and the tenants moved-in, within two weeks. During that period, James has organised an entire redecoration of the four-bed house, some general maintenance plus a deep clean. This is a fantastic service that far exceeds my experience with the previous agent. Throughout, the entire Hunters team provided an efficient and professional service, whilst being friendly and proactive. I highly recommend Hunters to all landlords.

I have recently sold my house with hunters and the process was pretty smooth. Sally sold hunters to me from the first interaction, she was personable and explained the process to me with ease. The photographer did a really good job, he was friendly and reassuring. Mehak always kept me fully informed and was in contact whether there were updates or not. My house sold quickly and Lisa did what she could to speed things up and kept me in the loop. Would definitely recommend hunters

We’ve recently just sold our house through Hunters and I would highly recommend. We tried to sell our house last year and unfortunately towards the end of the process, it all fell through. The care and compassion from the members of staff was incredible and something I’ll always be thankful for. We then decided to sell our property again this year and within 2 days of letting them know we wanted to sell again, the photographer was round and our house was on their website and Rightmove. Our house was sold within 6 days and that’s down to Hunters and their advertisement and willingness to find us a buyer. The whole process is made to feel at ease as each member of staff truly cares about what you’re going through and understands the stress of it all. We managed to get the house was wanted so desperately thanks to a quick sale on my house (I got full asking price too!!). Hunters recommended a solicitor to us, who again was amazing and always replied to emails unlike other solicitors. When waiting for the solicitor process, Hunters were always keeping me updated, chasing my solicitors, my buyers solicitors and always checking in. Particular mention to Sally who originally did our house valuation, Mehak who always phoned me when we had a viewing request/booked, Lisa who would always check in and chase everything for me, and finally Keira who made the whole process feel at ease. I honestly and truly would recommend Hunters as they’re real people with a genuine passion to get you in your dream home. Thank you so much, Lucy, Chris & Theo x

Total scammers!

Total scammers!! Do NOT recommend at all!! I rented with with them for 4 years, was okay at first then it gotten difficult to get things properly fixed, they left us without a fridge and freezer for over a year so I had to buy my own! They send out the same repair men that told me over and over again they could t properly fix various things as it needed updating and my landlord was refusing to update (handyman’s words not mine). We had a mice infestation that I had made them aware of but nothing was done and they ended up coming into the house eating through all my kids Easter eggs and our snacks and my sons make a wish documents amongst other important documents!! I had to pay for the infestation to be sorted, I have paperwork that states the things that needed doing to stop them and they didn’t do half of it!! There was insufficient loft insulation, single glazed windows and no wall insulation so it was beyond freezing unless I had the heating on constantly. They didn’t carpet or decorate in god knows how long!! I paid £2800 deposit to stay in this house!! They then said as I was pregnant there would be too many people living in the property so I said okay can I please have a rent statement to get onto the council and was told by corena she would email this to me but this went on for about 6 months and she then sends me an eviction notice instead so I said okay can I have the rent statement she still refused! A year later I get the rent statement.. then another eviction notice. Their reason was my landlords granddaughter had cancer and needed to sell up to pay for treatment (she knew one of my sons was a cancer survivor and she also knew my youngest son is fighting a brain tumour!) she used my personal circumstances as a tool against me. I tried so hard to move out quickly but eventually got a property with the council. She caused 2 years of horrifying mental breakdowns, I have adhd and so you can imagine the impact it had! She never done and entrance or exit inventory with me, she next done entrance or exit key handover so the crook covered her bases.!! This wasn’t her first rodeo!!I have been informed by neighbours of repairs etc carried out since I left the property and also about the new tennants living there so they never sold the property.Social services are trying to help get my deposit back, the so called deposit guarantee scheme said there was nothing they could do as it was never with them!! So I had a look on company’s house at them… I suggest if your considering renting from hunters you look on companies house at them too!! They are a bunch of scammers and they keep getting away with it!!They have now left us with absolutely nothing! I’m a single mum having to furnish and carpet a house with next to no money struggling to decide if my kids need a bed or food, carpets or gas, curtains or electric!! I was told a survey of dilapidation was being done and that turned out to not be true!! I have asked numerous times about my deposit and she doesn’t reply to nothing! She ignores everything. She has stolen £2800 from me and my children. I have 2 autistic children and 1 is a cancer survivor and 1 has a brain tumour I have a lot of worries already with them without this worry about loosing so much money that was needed to benefit my children. British Gas had to swap the meter as per the request from the ombudsmen and corena Harris told me I’d better put them back I have this and more in messages!! I said I can’t as that is breaking the law and she wasn’t happy at all.. the old meters didn’t work!! I can only hope people do not make the same mistake as myself and put their trust in these despicable people!! Have a look on companies house before considering renting from them!!£2800 is a lot of money for a single mum with 6 children and 3 of which are very poorly and one is fighting a brain tumour you ask yourself what kind of person does that!!

Hunters Failed to inform my solicitor , that the contract required signing by a certain date , or I would incur an increase of £10k in the purchase price. They would not allow me to view the property after the tenants had left , due to shortage of staff , meaning by the time I had viewed it , the time for signing without incurring extra costs of £10k had expired. Very unprofessional, 2 members of staff dealing with the purchase , both left during the process. The Hunters for sale sign blew down, causing damage to the garden wall, and taking part of the stone wall and gate with it. They failed to make good the damage or pay for the repairs . Ombudsman investigating . Avoid I reply as follows to your lengthy response. I did issue you with A formal complaint and you responded with your final response, my complaint and your response has been forwarded to the property ombudsman. I was informed by Hunters, that I had to pay a further £10k, which was after I had signed the contract, and I had already transferred the agreed , non renegotiation purchase price of £100k on the 4th of January, as failure to do so would result in you putting the property back up for sale. I had no option but to forward a further £10k. I liaised with the seller, who stated you were unprofessional and lots of mistakes were made . My solicitors have confirmed they knew nothing of the clause to sign prior to Christmas. They are fully compliant with providing the property ombudsman of the details of the sale and your incompetence . I required everything in writing from you, to ensure they are no misinterpretations of any conversations .The reason for the further viewing , was to inspect the property after the tenants had terminated their tenancy. I require £10k reimbursed , and costs of repairs to the wall caused by your for sale sign . I will leave it in the hands of the property ombudsman . It is noted that Hunters have deleted their lengthy response, which was full of inaccuracies, I had already kept a copy for the ombudsman . If you spent so much time replying to my review late at night , why would you then delete it . This is why I requested everything in writing , so nothing can be misunderstood

J · 14 May 2024

Agent replied · 9 January 2025

Just to be extremely clear two renegotiations happened during your legal process after the original sale was agreed at £130k. One was to £100k and then a later one prior to completion to £110k. Both were overseen by both legal teams. You agreed to a renegotiated price of £110k and subsequently signed the paperwork and completed your sale. Signing and paying an agreed amount are not the actions of someone who wasn’t aware of the increase or someone who didn’t agree to it. Staffing - we have a high staff retention rate, of the two you mentioned, one of my valued sales negotiators is on maternity leave due to return and the other one left to spend more time with her young family. Neither of which I’d consider “unprofessional” reasons and are totally irrelevant to your allegation. Availability for viewings - this was the 4th viewing you’d had of this property and you’d requested to view it on the day and we simply didn’t have adequate cover in the office, if we had we would have accommodated as we did the other 3 times. For Sale Board - as most estate agents do we outsource to an external company. This was dealt with immediately after your sale completed. I have since emailed you (as you won’t talk on the telephone for some reason despite me giving you my mobile and asking you to contact me whatever time of day) several times to make sure this has been rectified to which I have had no response. Since you completed your sale in January you have emailed me a short paragraph basically demanding £10k and I have spoken with legal teams on both sides who agree that the terms were agreed and the sale was completed within the terms. I have asked you to send in a formal detailed complaint with a copy of our full complaints procedure which I am yet to receive and I have urged you to contact the Property Ombudsman so they can fully investigate and you can have some peace of mind that we have done nothing morally or legally wrong. My offer stands to contact me directly to discuss this further.

I have just bought a house where the seller's estate agent was Hunters. two items to note : 1. their pestering me to prove I had the funds via endless email demands, then when my solicitor raised one issue, total ignorance for 2 weeks. Not good. 2. I feel for the seller in that they totally missed off the presence of a very long private tree-lined driveway, and a full size totally convertable loft.

didn't like me because I was on benefits they didn't like me because the landlord didn't want to take someone on benefits so I made a decision to walk away and go to another agency who could help me and who could work with me and help me find a house they do discriminate people that are on benefits and they make excuses not to take people on benefits the person who was the end of you and it was rude stuck up and didn't like me because I was on benefits and saying that people are only 60 to 70,000 a year with rather take people on that are workinghe basically said that no one's gonna take you on you're gonna struggle to find a house because you're on benefits they only like people working and that's what he said to me and I think it's disgusting how the agency hasn't done nothing about itanal considering criminal charges against his agency and I'm also considering now taken on to court for the way they have treated me and push my patience that someone that is autistic and has behaviour problems and I think this is disgusting the way they have treated menever wanted to help me all because I'm autistic

Hunters Baldock as letting agents…

Hunters Baldock were the letting agents for a recent rental. I found them rude and difficult to the point of enjoying the power they had over me as a nervous tenant in an expensive and competitive market. They piled on the reasons why I might not get my deposit back (which they still have not returned) were useless with actual sums and dates and generally unpleasant.
