GoogleI am currently renting a property through Doorknobs since April 2022. I have dealt mostly with Lucy for the viewings, signing the contract... She is prompt , professional and clear. The communication was very good and I am very pleased so far and would recommend using their services.

GoogleThese crooks should def remove the word door from their name. Not very good human beings overall. Petty and picky and overall bad and sneaky. If I could give -5 stars I would. I would recommend staying away and go with another letting agent in TW, there are loads of great ones with much higher review scores. We can all see the low overall reviews on Google... anything under 4.5 is usually businesses not worth dealing with. Be careful!NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

GoogleI wouldn't recommend this state agent, as they are not helpful at all . I think they're very rude. The client is not important it's just the money money money. Different case is if you're a landlord they would do everything , but if you're renting a property they are not bothered at all.

GoogleProblems arose at the end of tenancy with large deposit deductions being made for very subjective views on cleanliness which were extremely harsh. Their "professional cleaning" clause is vague and unenforceable. Seems that they bank on people taking their word for it and not going through the official channels to get their deposit back. Always know your rights.
All of our properties are professionally cleaned before a tenant moves into the property, unless otherwise stated on the inventory. The invoice is kept to provide evidence should there be any dispute on this. Our contract clauses are not vague and clearly indicate what is expected at the end of the tenancy. Should a tenant not leave the property in the same condition as received then deductions have to be made to ensure the property is clean for the future tenant. An agent cannot deduct from a tenants deposit without reasonable justification and evidence. The tenant would need to agree the deductions through the government deposit scheme. If an agreement is not made by both parties then the dispute resolution service would make the final decision based on the evidence provided. Therefore your comment regarding not going through the official channels is fictional as there is no alternative.

It is a shame you have commented a negative review on our website Vanessa. Your deposit deductions were submitted to the DPS of which the adjudicator makes a decision on the deductions based on the evidence submitted to them. In your case, as much as you stated a full clean was carried out by your professional cleaner, unfortunately this was not true and the property still required a full clean. The adjudicator agreed with us based on the evidence provided. Doorknobs would not be able to claim deposit funds without the DPS agreement, therefore your statement that Doorknobs rip you off at the end of the tenancy is not factual and instead we are merely just doing our job.

GoogleAVOID. As soon as we moved into the property we were renting through Doorknobs, we discovered the oven was filthy with mould and wasn't working at all. We contacted Ryan, who agreed to get the oven fixed however, still insisted the property had been professionally cleaned before we moved in despite being shown pictures of an oven that clearly had not been cleaned. We then had issues with our boiler and it completely stopped working so we had no heating. This was when the months were getting colder and we contacted Ryan again to help resolve the issue. This took Doorknobs OVER A MONTH to fix. We had to continuously email, call and chase to get answers or updates from them and they showed no urgency or empathy towards the situation. This is appalling and no tenant should be treated this way. Honestly, we could not wait to leave the property and to be done with Doorknobs, but before this we had the final inspection from Ryan. We made sure everything had been professionally cleaned and de-weeded the garden too. He let us know anything that needed taking out our deposit, and we signed the check out form. Later, we then received an email saying we will need to pay £75 FOR SOME SHRUBS in the front garden... AFTER we had signed the check out forms. We even got a much cheaper quote as it was only a small front garden and they refused this quote. These people will take whatever they can from you and they will show no empathy towards you as a tenant in a property you rent through them.

GoogleWholly amateur-ish experience. Poorly handled check-in and check-out. Deliberately overlooking some things at check-in so I had to pay for them at check-out instead of my landlord dealing with it in the first place. Generally aloof and arrogant and treated myself and my partner in a condescending manner throughout a 2 year tenancy.
During the check in process a full detailed inventory is carried out along with photographic evidence. We ask the tenants to check, agree and sign this agreement. Any additions that are mutually agreed at the check in are added to the inventory, which the tenants are supplied a copy of. This is then used upon check out as both parties agreed at the start of the tenancy the condition. Should there have been any dispute at check out, the tenant reserves the right to dispute this through the dispute resolution service.

GoogleI have been a tenant with Doorknobs for over five years and find them to be absolutely wonderful. Maintenance and repairs are carried out pretty much immediately, without fuss and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I certainly couldn't want for anything more with them.

GoogleCustomer service is definitely not their strong point, we experienced rude, pushy and self serving attitudes from the staff. They fixed nothing in the flat we were renting even after countless requests When we were checking out because of the trouble we’d had it was a nightmare. My advice take as many pics, videos as possible, have them agree everything before moving in. They will take as much from you as they can before the money comes back to you Check the contract thoroughly as they are very underhand and sneaky with the t&c’s In my opinion they are the worst, after they have your money. Once they have it, good luck getting anything done and everything is on their terms. Be firm with them or else they will have you over Stress !!!!

GoogleTerrible service. I had my property on both the rental and sales market with Doorknobs Tunbridge Wells and received what can only be described as poor service. I had to constantly chase them for updates and they didn't even bother to inform me when they did viewings nor give me appropriate feedback. When I finally raised these issues with Kate the Director all she did was blame me and argue with me for over 48 hours over email. She didn't once apologise for the level of service I felt I had received nor did she behave in a way that I would expect from a professional Business Director. She is very defensive and doesn't realise that feedback can help her identify her business weaknesses and can help her business improve and grow. She didn't want to listen to my feedback and instead just told me that no matter what she would pursue me for what can only be described as 'hidden costs' in the contract when I found my own tenant and not them. She was hellbent on getting her costs covered and totally uninterested in ways in which she could lessen my sense of annoyance and poor service. The whole thing was bizarre really. I wouldn't recommend using Doorknobs based on my recent experiences.

GoogleAVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was with Doorknobs last year. They're the lowest of the low. Scum bags. Never helpful or seem interested. Charged £70 for a few weeds left, where I had pulled the majority out. We even got a quote half the price but they wouldn't use it! The person that mainly dealt with us was called Ryan, he's a right rat of man. They seem to be pally pally with the Landlords, no surprise.

GoogleI have been a tenant using Doorknobs for over two years now. I have always found the staff efficient, approachable and friendly. They have a realistic view of the tenant/landlord relationship and in my experience have been very good at their job of acting as go between and facilitator between the two. I feel that they have represented and supported me as a tenant in a positive manner. My only reservations are over the insistence on the tenant paying for professional cleaning at the end of a tenancy.

GoogleI have used Doorknobs as my letting agent for many years and have always found them to be very efficient and courteous. They have been able to relet my property with the minimum of downtime and handle maintenance issues speedily and smoothly. They screen tenants carefully and I have never had any problems on that front. They keep a list of preferred contractors with whom I have been very satisfied. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any landlord looking for a top notch agent.

GoogleI used doorknobs as a tenant years ago due to their excellent local reputation and family run business. Now, as a landlord with multiple properties in Tunbridge Wells I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to everyone. Each member of staff takes such pride in their work and do not rest until my query is resolved. I get a real sense of ownership from them all and I trust them implicitly. They act in very good faith at all times and are interested in protecting not only my interests but that of the tenants also. When I call or email the office, my questions are dealt with immediately. Promises are kept, phone calls are returned and all with a cheery and professional nature. I've used other letting agents in TWells and can confirm that doorknobs stand head and shoulders above them. I wouldn't move away from doorknobs and would very highly recommend them.

GoogleWe purchased a property from Doorknobs in Tunbridge Wells 18 months ago as a rental proposition. The transaction went through very smoothly and Jack at Doorknobs kept us regularly informed of the progress. We were so impressed by Doorknobs' professionalism that we decided to use their services to rent the property out and within a week they had found us a good tenant. Throughout this time Doorknobs has fully managed our property to a very high standard and as our letting agents, we feel it would be difficult to find anyone better. What we've found most reassuring is the fact that whenever we've had a question or needed some advice (we recently had some improvements carried out) we had a reply or a telephone call the same day. That's one of the most important things for us - knowing that Jack or another member of the team will always get back to us quickly. A very competent, customer-friendly business and highly recommended.
