GoogleHaving read previous reviews of the agency it was with trepidation that we entered into a transaction with the company. My take is, especially given recent reviews, that as one would expect the interests of the lessor comes before that of the lessee.
First, the positives. Upon us finding the property through the website, Sophie handled our check in fantastically. She was extremely thorough and communicative and made sure that various aspects were up to spec before we took up residence.
The maintenance team were responsive to issues especially in the case of emergency. Our landlord was in the process of selling our property towards the end of the lease and when we were inadvertently locked out there was a team on standby to assist despite it being a Sunday.
And now to checkout. We checked out the weekend of the snow hitting Tunbridge Wells. This caused a plethora of issues with transport and was not helped by our professional cleaner calling in sick the date he was due. Despite this, we over communicated and sought a new professional cleaner within an agreed timeframe. The cleaner came, sent invoices as well as photos of the job.
To cut a long story short we ended up in a lively and quite unnecessary back and forth with the agent in regards to checkout for a not inconsequential sum of money. Whilst the deposit was ultimately fully refunded it certainly felt as though this process was more hostile than it needed to be especially after an otherwise uneventful and enjoyable tenancy (one imagines for both parties).

It is great to hear that our staff provided you with a high level of service throughout your tenancy.
Unfortunately, Doorknobs cannot control the weather. It was unfortunate that the snow caused you trouble for the property to be returned clean. Doorknobs liaised with your Landlord on your behalf and it was agreed for your new cleaners to clean the property (after your tenancy had ended), with no extra rent days being charged out of goodwill.
This was the reason why your deposit was then refunded in full.
We feel this check out service provided was above and beyond the normal check out process.
It is a shame that your star review contradicts your comments and experience with our agency.

I tried to view many properties with Doorknobs however they were extremely unhelpful and unaccommodating to needs.
On one of our viewings ‘Dean’ bragged about how much he disliked the landlord of the property we viewed and that he was leaving the company. He made his feelings very apparent!
On our second viewing with ‘Dean’ when my partner turned up ‘Dean’ cancelled the viewing as they had double booked at the same time. My
Partner took time off work for this and Doorknobs was not apologetic on the slightest
When we finally came around to liking a property ‘Dean’ promised us that no one else was interested and we were the only parties filling out the forms to start referencing. Safe to say that was another lie! As the next day it was taken off the market and I found out he had given it to someone else.

GoogleAvoid these letting agents. They are deceptive and duplicitous. They try to conceal their shortcomings through blaming inefficiency of colleagues who mysteriously disappear from time to time. Several fake reviews here to balance the candid reviews received from disgruntled tenants.
This business has financial issues compounded by the present emergency measures and have tried to push properties which are not available or unsuitable to obtain money from prospective clients. Soon doorknobs will be an irretrievable casualty of economic emergency.Not a moment too soon. Don't give them any money, check them out.

I live abroad and so I rely on them heavily to assist me in all aspects of the tenancies - I have nothing but praise for all members of their team. I appreciate the clear division of responsibilities within an amicable and organised office. I know who I need to speak to about different issues that arise, be that viewings, maintenance or finance, making it straight forward for me to quickly get the answers I need. They always make time for me, responding quickly and efficiently to my queries, but more often than not they provide me the information and solutions I require before I need to ask. They’ve kept my property occupied throughout, largely due to their wide sales reach and reputation in the area, as well as, importantly, being reasonable and fair with the tenants; happy tenants lead to long term tenancies - and that’s always a good thing. The senior team were also very supportive to me throughout one problematic tenancy, guiding me clearly on my rights and responsibilities and ultimately helping me draw it to a successful close. Another thing I value is they have a complete set of professional contractors with whom they have built strong working relationships. This results in quick and responsive maintenance resolutions when problems arise, to a high standard and at reasonable cost. I highly recommend Doorknobs to other landlords looking for a fully managed service.

The whole process of finding us a perfect place, arranging viewings, signing contracts, handover of keys, etc.
Since we have moved in we had regular contact with the agency regarding minor maintenance issues. Always responded immediately and arranged engineers, or a new dishwasher etc.

Doorknobs abide by the law and we do not steal applicants money. A holding deposit is paid by a prospective tenant when an offer has been accepted by the Landlord. It is not paid prior to viewing a property, therefore your accusations are completely false as we are regulated heavily and would never conduct in such a manner.
Before an offer is accepted, applicants would complete a full application form, which we check over your suitability before we ask you to pay the holding deposit. Following acceptance from the Landlord, we then ask you to pay the holding deposit to Doorknobs.
This is non-refundable if you give misleading and non factual information on your application forms. Should then an applicant fail references, then this holding deposit is retained by Doorknobs.
Ali Awad, we cannot find your name on our database as ever having dealings with our agency. If you would like to get in contact with our office, then we can try and locate you on our system and will be able to discuss with you the reason why we was not able to proceed with your application.
Where the same review appears twice we show it once. We leave out reviews that name another agent or another of the brand's offices.
