Totally un-ethical and in my opinion highly unprofessional Agent. I would not have given any stars but can't post without!! In my opinion steer well clear - do not even ask them to provide a market appraisal - if you do invite them in and then you decide not to use them but market through another agent they will bad mouth your property to anyone calling in to see what they have available if they mention that they are viewing/interested in your property. I looked to engage the Thrapston office to sell my house - didn't proceed with them despite them saying I could still market through them whilst I was in my cooling off period with the Agent I had selected, whilst this is true, it seems highly unethical/underhand! Now I find that anyone who goes into their office who mentions my house SQ are telling them my house is not worth the asking price - however this opinion of theirs seems to keep reducing - so far by more than 25K over the last few months. None of the other agents I have received a Market Appraisal from seems to share their opinion re the value funnily enough! They don't in my opinion act for the Vendor, just want a sale so they can get their fee at any cost. When we complained about their tactics to the office, they basically said it is a tough market and they will say whatever is required - the last person they bad mouthed my house to actually wants to buy my house - SQ have nothing in the same price range and therefore why would they even need to comment - this must be pure spite/sour grapes - very unprofessional. 24/07/2019 Re the response - No formal valuation was provided - although one client viewed having not been told what we wanted to market it for, they were asked what they would pay for it! We have never been issued with any offers from Sharman Quinney and I will therefore be contacting the local office for evidence to support this comment. Not sure who is writing the response but they clearly have not received correct factual details. If you want to provide me your contact details I will be happy to call you - as an ex agent myself I am aware that all offers have to be put forward this was not the case!.

Please avoid using Sharman Quinney…

Please avoid using Sharman Quinney under any circumstances. If I could have given no stars I would have, there is nothing good that can be said about this agency. It's honestly the worst agency I have ever come across and I've been in the industry myself for 14 years now. They cannot even carry out basic due diligence when advertising a property so be prepared to be misinformed. One property was advertised as both freehold and leasehold, when we phoned to check we were told it was freehold, but it turned out through our solicitor it did have a lease too. They also didn't know the seller was only selling with a limited title not a full one, something that again only came to light through our solicitor six months later, a complete waste of everyone's time that could have been avoided if Sharman Quinney could be bothered to get to know the sellers and the houses they are selling better. The property we eventually ended up buying was advertised as having allocated off road parking. When we phoned to check this we were told this was definitely correct. Common sense told us this didn't seem right as none of the properties there had parking and the space was no where near the house! It turned out this was not the case at all and there was no parking with the house. It no longer fitted our needs however as this all happen several weeks down the line, and we were due to be made homeless in a matter of weeks, we simple had no choice but to proceed. Sharman Quinney's response to this was 'we take the word of our sellers' so it seems they will believe anything you tell them as a seller, despite the fact common sense should have made any competent agent question the parking situation in this case. Sharman quinney are the only agency I know to get away with not carrying out basic due diligence. You will never be able to get hold of anyone at the branch, we had to phone another branch on many occasions to get them to contact the Shelford office for us, they don't reply to any phone calls or emails. They have a turn over of staff every few weeks, you are not told when someone is leaving nor introduced to someone new starting. The person starting will also have no clue what's going on with the sale so be prepared to constantly have to repeat yourself. They do not bother giving you any updates or chase a sale for you, complete laziness. They will be sitting on their personal mobile phones everytime you drive past. When we raised a complaint about their shortfallings and appalling service, we didn't get a single apology. How this agency is still running honestly baffles me, at the very least the Shelford branch should not be allowed to continue practicing.

Do not waste your time on this agency! They are one of the most lazy, unprofessional and uninformed agencies in the area. We leased a house through them, and gave them more than one opportunity to improve their service, but eventually got absolutely fed up and moved to another agency. The best decision we made, because after 4 months of no tenants with Sharman, the new agency found numerous interested parties and agreed a let within a week. Some of the issues we came across: They never call back, if you have a query. They coax you into management fees and refuse to accept solicitor drafted amendments. They are not proactively engaged in finding tenants, only sit back and wait, costing landlords months of no rent. They approve check out/deposit-release paperwork on a property when there is obvious damage. Thus, costing the landlord repair fees out of own pocket. The list goes on Honestly, I am not quite sure what they actually do apart from posting the house on Rightmove.

Incompetent!

Personally, I no longer rate this organisation and no longer use their services. However, I have had the unfortunate experience of Sharman Quinney Stamford, being part of a very stressful chain! After 5 months I had to stop the sale of my property. And the responsibility lies firmly with the management at their Stamford Office. They were unwilling to help in supporting the sale, with comments ‘stop chasing on xxxxxx as it’s taken up too much of our time’ . This negative behaviour has been demonstrated, throughout this very stressful process .Not only have they let me down, they have seriously let down their vendor and the purchaser of the property they were selling.Feedback to the leadership team at this organisation is ‘it’s very easy to sell a property in the current climate. But it takes skill and competence to get them over the line. Which you are clearly lacking’Lesson to self. If this organisation ever happens to be apart of my chain in future house sales. Sorry, you wont be buying my house!

DO NOT USE THESE ESTATE AGENTS

If I could give no stars I would. I am a first time buyer who has a mortgage in principle and a deposit ready, which I got through an independent mortgage broker. I had a found a property and put in my first ever offer which should be an exciting time instead I was told I needed to meet their mortgage broker to do checks before going ahead with the offer. However this is not legal! Be warned, they are bullies and try and use your lack of knowledge to make you do things that are not required. I rang my mortgage broker who rang them to inform them that checks had already be complete so this was not needed. They then did put my offer forward however I got a phone call to say it was rejected on the grounds I had not gone with their mortgage broker and the vendor wanted that security. I then explained that I have a mortgage in principle so checks have been complete if I do another check it can effect my credit so why would I do another one. I then upped my offer, I waited 4 days to hear back. I chased and ended up arguing with Rowena saying that they are bullying me into something I don't need to do and trying to make out that its something I have to do. I got an answer in the end saying my offer had been rejected as the vendor wanted the full asking price. So why wasn't I told this when the first offer was rejected? Do not use Sharman Quinney they are awful greedy people wanting bonuses for the house sale and for the mortgage.
