How Hamptons totally left us high and dry

we had arranged to move in to a new property with Hamptons, everything was going fine. the last minute the current tenants of the property we had hoped to move in to fell through, it happens. how ever at that point baring in mind we had signed the tenancy agreement, also considering we had given our notice on our current property. the landlord/ Hamptons should have been liable to sort us out accommodation in that situation. Hamptons came back with a statement saying, they had signed but not dated the contract and therefore were not obligated to help at all. this is the shadiest thing ive ever witnessed. during that phase, where you have given notice and signed new contract, its imperative you are protected by the tenancy contract for situations just like this. if you are going to do business with Hamptons, triple check everything. we had a week to find a new property, we ended up somewhere far less than ideal. I would sincerely recommend not doing business with Hamptons

Excellent service

We had been with Hamptons for more than 2 years and I would like to send my great appreciation for their exceptional service. Especially to Ms Harleigh Doherty who had been our property manager. She was always prompt with just about everything that we had concerned about. Had the property was not put on sale, we will definitely be staying and wouldn’t think of moving out. Thank you so much for all the help and outstanding service!

Quick resolution

Danish in the property management team quickly resolved some issues we had with the house we are renting. His communication was great and he looked to resolve them as soon as he could, following up to make sure they were resolved with the contractor.

as u all know that some people are new to uk so we are new to uk and we contact this agency for letting they used to show us a home and we submitted all the documents at the end they said that we will not give home to u and we deposited 600 pounds and we did not get the deposit back this is the worst experience we had with this agency and if any contacting this agency do not connect with them.

Sandra McCrae - leaving a tenancy is never easy but leaving one under harder stressful circumstances was made easier with the clear and courteous communication from Sandra. Sandra has been so helpful and so kind and I appreciate how much she did to help myself.

we've got very negative experience as tenants, the agent was lying to us, causing us quite a lot of anxiety.

TLDR: we've got very negative experience as tenants, the agent was lying to us, causing us quite a lot of anxiety. After reference check, and accepted offer, the landlords kept delaying signing the contract for over 3 weeks. The agent (Evelyn Aragundi) communicated to us that there are no reasons for the delay, and motivated the delay with very interesting arguments "so we have everything confirmed", "they are really relaxed personalities", "they're currently travelling,", "they're very busy people", "there's no reason for this as such, I mean it's not like they're unsure". After some very involved week, we've got an email from a manager (James White) of the agent saying that "date was a bit vague until a more conclusive timeframe was confirmed".That clearly demonstrated that agent lied to us, stating that "so we have everything confirmed" while it was not. We wont make an offer in the first place, if we knew that. Worst of all, during the process we've seen no intention to clearly comunicate situation to us, and no intention to find a solution that would work for both parties.

Hamptons Property Managers

We have been renting through Hamptons since April 2022. Our property managers (we have had 3 during that time). Katie Tucker our first and Lucy Pickles our current, have always been helpful and responsive, with any issues been dealt with speedily and professionally. We are grateful for their continued communication and assistance. Lucy is a great asset to the company!

DISGUSTING

In my opinion, Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross branches threw mud at the wall with our viewings and evidently failed to familiarise themselves with basic details of our property. I discussed terminating contracts with the GX manager, Andrew Riley, (below) after just a few weeks. In my opinion, he spoke inappropriately of the Beaconsfield branch management and I felt he begged me to move to his branch in GX. I found their comments to be racist and sexist. They searched for a key in our house that they had not been given and left the external door unlocked with this key in. They seemed somewhat inconvenienced that I held matters briefly whilst a my Dad was ill and I felt aggressively pursued whilst grieving. I raised a formal complaint to the GX manager (below) branch which he failed to acknowledge directly and passed to HQ. The response I felt was unreasonable and there was no offer to appeal the decision. On calling HQ 'customer care' I was told that was the end of the line and would not offer a name for appeal to be addressed to. They provided my personal data to a debt collector without even having sent an invoice? For me, it was an unnecessary and painful experience and it seems they are ruthlessly numb to recognise the issues. Without recognition there can be not acceptance or improvements. Just wanted to share my opinion and hopefully prevent anyone else feeling the way I felt from my Hamptons experience.

As a first time buyer there are a plethora of agents looking to provide services and more importantly opinions (objectivity impaired of course). Working with Will Wisbey was a pleasure and refreshing experience, someone who provides advice when asked and his opinion on the market was objective, honest and portrayed reality. I viewed other properties offered by other agents and there was a fine divide between; 1) agents with a serious laissez-faire attitude (clearly too many interested parties to care), 2) agents that would constantly bombard you with calls and emails (wanting an offer but then never getting back to you). Will struck a great balance and on reflection Hamptons (Shad Thames) is a class outfit. He recognised that spending a serious amount of money requires a serious amount of thought, negotiation and due diligence. Naturally as this was my first purchase there was a lot of negotiating, pondering and hesitation (4.5 months to close) all of which Will took in his stride. He was mindful of both vendor and purchaser and always ensured to please both parties as best he could. The way in which Will conducted the transaction was exemplary and I would certainly recommend and if chance has it, work with him again!

Will and Camilla were exceptional in helping me with my property search in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe. In the early stages Will took time and showed me a variety of properties and gave me an honest appraisal of each one and finally Camilla came up with a great little house that had just come to the market and was in my price range. There was no chain and the purchase went through in about nine weeks. I would heartily recommend Hamptons, and in particular Will and Camilla, to any prospective buyer or seller.

Hamptons have been brilliant in securing another tenant for my flat. Having had appalling service from a previous agent Hamptons have shown how well it can be done. Jonathan Isaac has been wonderfully efficient in ensuring a smooth transition from one tenant to another.

Assumingly a "large" company but plays "dirty little" tricks wasting buyers and vendors time

We wish having seen the review titled "As untrustworthy as they come"The Canary Wharf office of Hamptons did the same to us. They confirmed in WRITTING the acceptance of our offer last Friday. We provided IDs and proof of funds on the same day that they were happy with. However, 1st thing on Monday morning they say the solicitors acting for the Vendors accepted another offer when Solicitors do not even work during the weekend. Worse still, the offer was put forward by the same office which is really odd as the property was marked SOLD on the portals already. So we echo the feedback below:As untrustworthy as they come. When making an offer on a property we found that they just simply used our offer to create a false market where there was previously no other bidder despite property being on the market for some time... Outcome being some one else has also clearly been misled and ended up paying over the odds for a property based on games. We even made the offer that they say the vendors would accept. Now they say someone offered much higher once THEY told the new buyer that some one else made an offer being accepted already hence the property is off the market. What Hamptons is playing here, is encouraging Gazumping which is bad for all parties. Not surprisingly some of their other transactions fell through thus, Vendors lose out on sales and time. Buyers and vendors wishing to work on fair market price should be wary of this dirty games as some one definitely gets hurt by wasting time and money unnecessarily.

Ellie Marsters is a Property Manager at Hamptons. She is in a league of her own, when it comes to responsiveness, taking accountability to get things done and being engaged with both the tenant and landlord. Having had some experience with other Property Managers in other companies, I would recommend anyone to seek out the services of Ellie at Hamptons.

Short-term rental of property

Hamptons managed a 12-month rental of my property whilst I was abroad. From the first meeting with Andrew who visited my property intially, it was a pleasure dealing with them. They were clear, prompt to reply to questions and very helpful on the whole process which put my mind at rest - especially as I was not going to be in the country! The daily management with Minneaux and then Natalie could not have been better and nothing was too much trouble.I thank them for their professional attitude and helpful manner and would recommend their service without hesitation.

Terrible

Sometimes beautiful flats or houses are in the hands of terrible agents; be careful! As tenants, they only come to you when they need you to do something. You can hardly contact any of them when you are looking for help. The renting agent ghosted after all documentation was done, leaving me a flat with much to fix. When moving out, they were supposed to contact me in advance for at least 24 hours, but most did not. They told me the people I hired for end-of-tenancy cleaning were not professionals (because I wasn't using one of their business partners) and had the inventory clerk go in before the cleaning was done; they allowed people to move around your items when they were doing the viewing.

So far, no complaints

We have been tenants in a flat managed by Hamptons and have been very happy with the service that they - Ellie Marsters in particular - have provided thus far. Ellie is very responsive, well-organized and professional. Worth saying that we have not gotten to the deposit withdrawal phase, which several reviews complain about. But, so far, so good.

We’ve just bought a flat where Hamptons were acting for the vendor. From expressing interest in finding a flat in Shad Thames, Simon Edwardson maintained contact and provided advice on the area from his extensive knowledge. Once we’d put in our offer Simon and his team provided professional and practical support to make the deal happen. Simon was always ready to make an extra effort to resolve issues quickly and effectively. Our best experience of estate agents….ever…by a large margin.

Fantastic service

Fantastic service. At every stage we have had nothing but the best from them. A particular shout out to Trevor Scott. Having moved into the property he has been a fantastic property manager who seems to genuinely care that his clients get the best possible service. Always quick to respond and proactive in addressing any concerns. Couldn’t ask for better service. A world away from previous experiences. Highly recommended
