My first contact with Charters was Simon Edser who came to value the property. At that stage I was unsure if I would sell or rent so his colleague Jessica Crouch also visited to add her expertise. Both were kind, helpful and efficient - including advice as to how to prepare the house for the photographer. After I'd signed up, Kevin Ashley and his team took over to arrange viewings. The house sold very quickly and then Stephen Henry took over to progress the sale. Long, long wait for probate during which time Stephen made sure I was updated on the buyer's position and other matters. As a first-time seller, I found working with Charters - every single member of the team I encountered - to be a smooth process. Simon was kind enough to recommend a local conveyancing solicitor and I felt I was in very safe hands throughout the process. Top marks all round.

A very good experience with Charters

A very good experience with Charters. Although we never found a house to purchase with them they were very attentive, listening to our needs and alerting us to anything that may suit us in a home. Tilly was especially helpful from the Park Gate office - regular emails and calls but not over doing it! Lewis and Nathan were lovely from Bishops Waltham also. Well done guys.

Charters went the extra mile

We initially dealt with Phil from the Southampton office who was fantastic during the negotiation process and was quick to give updates when there were developments along the way. After our offer was accepted we dealt with Stephen from the Chandlers Ford office. Some issues were flagged up with the property during the building survey that meant we had to re-negotiate our offer. Stephen facilitated this very well, and never had an issue with us calling the office to talk over any issues or get updates. Would definitely recommend.

Charters exceed any estate agents!!

What can we say from start to finish Charters were nothing less than exceptional. Phil Northover from Southampton branch over saw the sale of our house from start to finish, there were a lot of bumps in the road but he kept in contact throughout and went above and beyond for us! We can’t recommend Charters enough, every time you call the office everyone is friendly and professional and calls are returned quickly. Our move was particularly stressful but made easier by using Charters, we can’t thank Phil Northover enough for all his hard work getting our house sold and us into our new dream house!

Myself and my partner was so amazed by the friendly, genuine care and understanding approach that Sarah brought in showing us 7 rental properties in one day.We weren't fixed on what we wanted or where exactly we wanted to be in Winchester so we had put a lot of faith into Sarah to show us a wide variety of areas and homes to help us make a decision.We arrived to the first appointment with a flat tyre and with Sarah's local knowledge we managed to park our car in a safe place so that we could still make the appointments in good time. On the drive between properties, local landmarks, especially walking routes and pubs were mentioned as both myself and my partner both love country pubs and taking long walks in nature. She made a point of telling us how we could easily find these walks from each of the properties and how easily accessible shops and supermarkets were. Overall, we were so impressed that Sarah had prompted us to book viewings for properties that we may have normally overlooked. She put together an amazing schedule and planned the route in a way that allowed us to really see the local area and enough variety of different homes, that once we were done, gave us enough information to really know what we wanted, where we wanted to be and make a clear informed decision on the day.We were so happy to have made an offer on a property that actually over exceeded our expectations and are now just waiting for all the checks to go through. The whole process so far has been quick, easy and super friendly. We both can't thank Sarah enough and Charters Estate Agents for their help in finding our new home.

Worthing - Unfortunately they do not communicate…

Unfortunately they do not communicate between themselves so tell you all different things. They now use an external company for referencing which automatically fails credit checks so you have to pay for them to garentor (even if you have a personal garentor). They are quick to chase you for information but will not respond when you request something. Definitely research before handing money to them as they do not stick to the laws around renting.

Terrible experience with Charters

Terrible experience with Charters. Lost thousands of pounds of property from my flat. Had to deal with about 15 different representatives. All as bad as each other. Honestly, they are just a bunch of crooks - there are far better agencies out there. More professional, attentive and thorough. I would not recommend anyone to use Charters. Please do not believe this '4.9'star rating that they have constructed themselves. Awful agency, awful people. STEER CLEAR !

Sarah Harris of Charters Alton was exceptional.

Charters of Alton took on my property in May 2022. From the moment I met Sarah Harris, I felt confident in her approach and thought process in selling my home. Sarah was the only agent to take notes, ensuring that our property details were detailed and accurate. Sarah was engaging, professional and honest from start to finish and was alway available for a discussion regarding the progress of my property, which was difficult in a falling market. She always had a clear strategy in mind and I found her knowledge of the market to be excellent. On a personal level, I am also very grateful for the numerous times that she took a call from me (including out of hours), as I needed advice on a purchase of an apartment for my Dad, who is 84. This helped me to secure that purchase which had no connection or affiliation with Charters as the purchase was over 200 miles away. Honestly she went above and beyond the normal remit of service. Stephen Henry has always been my first…

Stephen Henry has always been my first point of contact. The buying of my property has been fraught with problems and therefore taken a long time to complete BUT Stephen has been my saviour.
