TrustpilotGrumpy staff
I went into the Oakham branch to exchange some Australian dollars back to pounds, to be met by a right misery, who with folded arms, informed me that they only exchange to pounds if the currency has been purchased from them. The Post Office is not a good alternative with all the banks closing, especially with grumpy staff!

Absolutely wonderful customer care by Vicky, Carmela and Tash. Really lovely ladies who cannot do enough to assist and always-somehow(!)- with a smile on their faces. Superb! Thank you ladies-a pleasure knowing you all. PS A special mention to Rob, the local postman, who is always lovely and helpful and works so hard. Little doubt as to why these 4 good souls have the great reputation which they deservedly do!

Something needs sorting with there deliveries!! I got a email to say sorry couldn't deliver as we're not in! I was in no one rang the bell I have 2 door bells one is a camera. There was no card left either! So I phoned to complain as it's not the first time it's happened, the guy on the phone said he has not been I agree with you on that. he was really nice and polite Gave me a reference number and said should be with you the next day, I gets a email to say your parcel is out for delivery today! So I left my door slightly open and guess what...I wasn't in according to the delivery person!! That's 2 days of waiting in because these lazy things are not doing there jobs!! So I will be complaining again! And I hope they give this person a telling off as someone else could be doing the job properly!!

TrustpilotNew post office fraud
New post office fraud. Charging recipient for mail you have already paid sufficient postage for. If buying labels on ebay be carefull especially with 48 tracked service. Cost is 2.70 for a large letter upto 250g. If you do not put label exact weight they will charge at delivery end regardless it falling well under the 250g . Its a new scam they are running to rob customers. But when you will rob your own employees, what should we expect.Dont bother ringing them they hang up when you are right, dont bother writing in, they just ignor it. They are getting away with all this fraud due to being state protected. It needs dismantling, everyone sacked and a restart.

Today I went to the Rugby Post Office in the town centre to collect a passport application form. A member of staff gave me only the form. I asked where the envelope and guide booklet were, but I was told that they no longer provide them.

I just wanted to post a letter recorded delivery. There was a huge queue so happy to use the self-serve machines. Answering all the questions I’m then faced with’ Scan your barcode’! I don’t have a bar code! Cancel or help? Help, someone will come to you! Highly unlikely as there are insufficient staff and a huge queue. Why oh why ask us to use your machines when you can’t even post a letter? Utterly pointless!

TrustpilotI had to return a mobile phone to…
I had to return a mobile phone to Amazon return office in Edinburgh on the 4 November 2025 which is still stuck in the sorting office after about a month, I spoke to the post office customer services which told me that because I sent the item which I paid for that is not covered by the insurance that they usually give to customers that use Amazon returns so an item cost in £200 and over is not covered by the normal insurance in which we pay would not cover the insurance which is normally £75.

I brought a coat for my daughter an expensive one. It said it was out for delivery but never came. So I went to the main sorting office and they all said it’s the one in ardwick but it’s not open to public. I was also told me people that they have Christmas staff in and know what things are. So basically they stole it. Because I have spent days out of my time chasing my parcel it’s now I don’t have the time to get a new one. I’m gutted that my coat has gone and it was a main present

TrustpilotPost office Garforth Main Street
Michael is very helpful and friendly. Basically does what he can to help and I like to have a chat with him when I'm in. The three ladies I've come to know over a few years are lovely. Unfortunately, there is a horrid, rude, obnoxious little man, incapable of saying please of thank you. Always trying to upsell to special delivery etc. Why is someone in a customer facing role, when they obviously can't stand people?!?

If you're someone who is being shunned by people in your area whether your fault or not you may well find that although the Post Office is a national organisation, your local postman who comes to your property every day is caught up with local politics as well (or that is what I have found living here in North Staffordshire)!

TrustpilotOur failing Post Office
I would have liked to have given them 0 out of 5, indeed 0 out of a quadrillion comes to mind.Just how many times have parcels been lost, not turned up for people, damaged, been said to have been delivered when they have not and a lot more problems beside. This company/organisation was the pride of the UK. It was used on Christmas Cards as an example of Great Britain. Now it is an embarrassing reflection on that past. Not just the legal scandal, but businesses trying to provide for their customers with items and parcels going missing. Customers being let down badly with them having to chase things up at their and the selling companies time and expense.I had to go around to addresses close to where I live just before Christmas as they had pushed through my door items for three other addresses. I didn't take them back as some were presents that needed to get to the right address prior to the big day. People were delighted to receive these items as they had been told they had been lost and they would not receive them prior to Christmas, if at all.I have been unwell of late, but still had to run around like a scalded cat after items that I needed that had gone missing, indeed lost again. They seem a compleat shambles. How small independent businesses survive is a major question. Which may be part of reason why people have lost confidence with them and explain why a number have closed down.Sorry but the Post Office is now damaging the economy. Yes they were the pride of the UK. With stories written like Postman Pat, as well as the song about him and his cat. But If I received a Christmas Card this year with the new and worse than pathetic Post Office represented. I would take it as Hate Mail and a total insult.

TrustpilotHorrible service
Horrible service. Been waiting at home all day for 2 days, and twice, no attempt to ring doorbell and just posting a 'sorry we missed you' note instead.Letter is marked as 'Special Delivery Guaranteed', so definitely a waste of money for this 'Guaranteed' service.Sale Depot also only open 8-10am (2 hrs... really) Mon-Fri and 8-12 on a Sat. Do they really think ppl dont have to, i dont know..., go to work during the week!?Went early morning 8.05am Sat. to Depot to try and collect instead, since it should be just sitting there. Was told they cant find it and it is probably out with someone already. (Serious doubt an employee arrives and leaves at 8am on the dot with all the letters they need to deliver.)

TrustpilotRoyal Mail Slough Enquiry
Slough, post office, just the sight of a dirty door makes you feel sick. There is different information on the door and on the window. I ordered another shipment for Tuesday and it was delivered on Monday. I went to the post office to pick it up and it wasn't there either. I don't know if they keep it at home or in the car. I came back late from the post office and there was no parcel or any information. Once, the postman left a parcel in the rain and you had to sign for it. I don't know who is responsible for all this? They want more money, they go on strike. I wouldn't pay anything extra for such services. All I heard was: please come back tomorrow and no apologies.

Posted 4 parcels on different days from a drop off Post Office in local shop. Staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Got receipts and sent tracked to eBay customers. Over a week later and I have 4 complaints that the parcels have not been received which had over £200 of goods in 4 parcels. Looking at the compensation system it’s a joke so thanks Royal Mail, nothing royal about your company it’s gone down the pan and will use Evri in future..the one parcel I sent with them got there the next day.

TrustpilotI queued for 45 minutes at the Post…
I queued for 45 minutes at the Post Office in WH Smith In Cheltenham High Street today to buy some travel money. There was a long queue and with only one window open. There was another very elderly lady behind the windows who constantly interupted the one man serving thus delaying the queue's progression even further. A rather brusque woman in black attempted without much success to direct people to a self-automated checkout but it is clear that people required the Post Office SERVICES. It was a painful experience and I would urge people NOT to use this venue - it was unpleasant, it was unfriendly and totally inefficient and it is no wonder that the Post Office is in such an appalling state. Is this intentional in order to drive us away from this, (what used to be a) service?

TrustpilotBreaking UK Disability Law
Breaking UK Disability Law! First their staff are ableist in store, & demand that someone in the severe disability group leave their house, spend hours queuing with a compromised immune system + hypersensitivity issues to do something Son has permission to do. Then there is no way to contact by phone to make a complaint about this, & sort out a time sensitive issue. I spend time with very damaged hands filling in their 'contact us form' which demands my email address, but I want to be contacted by PHONE, but it point blank refuses to allow me to send unless they can mine my personal details with my email. Then it states they have 15 working days to respond, but take over a month from Jan 25th, & blame Christmas!!! This company point blank refuse to pay attention to UK disability access law under the Equality Act. I use Instagram to contact that way, & 'Ben' out right lies about my complaint being escalated and marked as urgent several times. When someone finally does phone me, it's far too late to resolve the issue that my Son was in the Post Office trying to deal with, because they have no concept of urgent. I tell her specifically why I need to speak to people on the phone, and why I don't want them using my email. She says she understands, and agrees their policy of no phones is wrong, but not in her control. She tells me she'll contact the manager of the store, and 'call me back' to let me know what they've said, and what they're going to do to resolve this. Does she? No. I'm emailed. Then, miraculously asked to take part in a survey to tell them how well they resolved my complaint. Well, Post Office, here I am with exceptionally painful, damaged hands telling you you suck, and from January to March you still have NOT resolved my complaint. In fact you've made it worse by doing the thing I specifically asked you NOT TO DO. Then sent a £20 vouch to the email address I specifically said you don't have permission to use, with the assumption I even have a printer, and I've told you I don't have a smart phone because I have DAMAGED HANDS & CAN'T USE TOUCH SCREENS. Oh, but it gets better; "take it to your local Post Office, with ID to redeem it". How about you CALL ME like you said you would, and I've requested countless times!

TrustpilotPost office counters in North East England
I recently had to use 2 post office counters.Within the space of a few years, since before COVID, they have completely become dilapidated & badly under staffed. There was one person trying to run a counter made for up to 6 people, at a major post office.I would have felt sorry for them if it wasn't that the service was so incredibly bad.At the first, after a painfully long wait, I was denied collection of several parcels because the sender had missed a letter out of my surname. Which didn't match my photo ID driving licence, name. Though obviously the picture & address were correct. So I lost those parcels. Which were returned to the seller. Where a claim had to be made for a refund by me.The post office has become the PAST office. They seem stuck in a time when there wasn't any competition & they could do whatever they liked. In today's circumstances, they have made themselves irrelevant. In some of their functions as a credible business.

TrustpilotPost Office Savings (Lasting Power of Attorney - EVENTUALLY!)
This has been going on since the 29th August 2023 and I’ve never known a company like it.All financial institutions I’ve dealt with when registering Lasting Power of Attorney on my mothers accounts have taken between 24 hours and 7 days, why did it take Post Office Money just over 5 months, yes you read correctly FIVE MONTHS!From telling me the NatWest bank statement wasn’t a statement, to returning my application asking what my mothers saving goal was, it’s been an absolute joke. The few good customer service agents were exceptional, sadly the majority were useless, and that also goes for the complaints team.A complaints advisor who really didn’t want to speak to me as he was finising in 5 minutes, put me on hold to talk to his daughter! Yes, he actually did this!Interrupting every time I spoke telling me customer service can help and hung up. I wanted to complain about customer service NOT get put back to them!Another agent failing me on security because I didn’t know if it was a sole or joint account when I told her it SHOULD be a sole account but it seems when the accounts matured, the incompetent Post Office opened new accounts as joint with my late fathers name on it as deceased! The other security question was the opening balance, I’m registering for LPA, how would i know! She also told me I cannot close an account over the phone or online and just ignored me when I told her less that 7 days prior, the bereavement team closed two over the phone! But she knew best, was so patronising and didn’t want to listen. I got her to put me through to complaints who just ignored me and agreed with her. The bereavement team closed 2 over the phone and now I finally have the login details I closed the 3rd online, yes, CLOSED ONLINE, but they’re telling me I can’t! Even on closure, they make you wait 24 hours to transfer the money rather than a fast payment like anyone else!Having to watch my mother go into a care home and her Alzheimer’s escalating on a weekly basis, then having to deal with these incompetents just so I could access her money to pay for her care has been traumatic.FIVE MONTHS of complete hell dealing with this company resulting in 5 months of lost interest as they pay peanuts.Thank God I never have to deal with them again!

TrustpilotPost Office Dorking branch
Terrible experience trying to renew my driving licence at Dorking Post Office. This branch is located in the town centre, although there’s no immediate parking facilities, at the back of M&S, there is pay meter parking.I went to this particular branch as I needed to urgently renew my driving licence and the DVLA suggested this was the best option. Here I should have been able to get digital photos and staff assistance to check & process the application. Unfortunately, before I was able to enquire about driving licence renewal, the counter staff advisor abruptly informed me, that, the Photo Booth was out of order. I attempted to explain my situation and what the DVLA had recommended. Additionally I said I already had printed passport size pictures so it didn’t matter if they couldn’t take digital pics. To cut a long story short, the DVLA told me to show Post Office staff the content the online chat I had the previous day so the Post Office would process my renewal without the need for further documentation. Despite calmly explaining this twice, the customer service advisor (female) said she was unable to assist me. In case there might be an issue, I’d brought the completed paper application form and would have sent it next day delivery. Nevertheless, as soon as I started to speak, another member of staff who appeared to be a manager (male) intervened. He did not introduce himself or his role, he just interrupted his female colleague, standing behind her chair, arms crossed in a rather patronising and menacing way. Once again I explained what I was trying to do, at which point he became aggressive and said HE had NO TIME or intention to look at the DVLA conversation from the online chat. As I looked round to see if in the meantime more customers had come in, he threatened to remove me from the Post Office and ban me! I left the Post Office enraged and deflated with the lack of customer service, communication skills and the widespread unwillingness to provide any assistance beyond the minimum required.Since then, I complained to Post Office HR team and I await a response. I lived in Dorking for years and used to go to the Post Office with my then toddler daughter to stick stamps on letters and buy small stationery items, I remember staff often helping children with posting letters, or patiently exchanging pennies into pound coins, as well as providing excellent service to all customers. PLEASE NOTE; Upon returning home I contacted the DVLA. They were very surprised to hear about my awful experience as apparently the Post Office is supposed to provide quality, quick and easily accessible services in partnership with the DVLA. Overall I would not recommend this Post Office branch and in my opinion it was one of the worst customer service experiences I have encountered.

TrustpilotNo response to formal complaint
Made a complaint regarding treatment by a member of staff at my local Post Office store in Bewdley who was serving on the Post Office counter & refused to allow my husband to collect a parcel (even though he had been given my valid ID, confirmation email and collection code as she didn't believe I was his wife!!!! AND for good measure indicated that I could be prosecuted as my drivers licence stated Ms instead of Mrs!!). Email sent raising complaint on 13th Nov but no response. Obviously couldn't care less how their staff behave.

TrustpilotStourport post office, 28 High Street
Disgusting service, Amazon package delivered with Amazon reference, my name and DOB on parcel. Post office refused to hand over! Woman on the front desk of the two cashier/postal desks sat in the left, typical middle age labor attitude dictator who’s more interested in clock watching than helping. Not the first time I’ve had this issue as she did the same in August with a passport. Amazon said you have the reference number & ID so if they don’t hand it over they are breaking the law. Had to threaten calling the police & my solicitor to get my package. She was more interested in when 5pm was approaching to watch the “Christmas lights coming on”! Her excuse, it’s the postman’s fault followed by it then being Amazon’s when she had my property and was initially refusing to hand it over. Another left wing muppet who belongs in a mental institution rather than sitting around barking at people and talking to her own staff like sh*t! Caused me to miss my train and had to take a cab to the airport costing me £70 as opposed to£11 on the train. avoid like the plague!

TrustpilotOutdated service and appalling service from the business leaders
I recently went into my local PO to check the cost of postage for a large letter containing artwork that I produced. They were very helpful and efficient and said two first class stamps would cover the cost. I stuck the stamps on and left the letter with them. That is when things started to go wrong! the letter which I had written Do Not Bend on arrived over a week later in a poor state, damp and crumpled. The Post Office is an outdated and poorly managed business that has no place in modern society, it is also in control of it's own destiny, I feel so sorry for the employees who must be ashamed of the company they all work hard for.I'm sure they will get jobs with a modern business that will take over this appalling shambles that is evident.
