Would not of rated even a 1 star

Would not of rated even a 1 star Totally incompetent and not fit for purpose.I would advise anyone thinking of using the post office for financial services like insurance to read all the reviews first .I would urge you to avoid using the post office . Whatever guarantees are made with the product you are looking to purchase ,do not presume that these promises or legal commitments will be met .The Post office needs to be held accountable ,as the recent public enquiry has shown the post office is rotten to the core .I have also left a review with maximum rating but read the review it is as bad as this and details my problems It is no good trying to phone the help desk as they are only open through the week and not on a night. If you do get to speak to someone they will tell you that a senior manager will phone you back ….guess what?they don’t call you back There is guidance on the financial services ombudsmen website on how to raise a complaint and if you are not happy with the post offices decision ,then the ombudsman will look into it Good luck

I visited the Post Office in Mickleover…

I visited the Post Office in Mickleover (13 The Parade) and I must write a review about my experience. The gentleman behind the counter, offered the most relevant up to date information about the best option I needed to send an International parcel. I was feeling overwhelmed (it was not a post a letter type situation, this was a complex, International, going through customs query). This Postmaster was experienced! calming, professional and an all round excellent representative of the Post Office. He was knowledgeable, courteous, very helpful, kind & very informative. Alongside the young lady who was working that afternoon they made this situation so much better. If you need a service from a post office and you live in the Mickleover / Littleover area in Derby, I highly recommend going to this establishment and using their services.

I went to the post office to drop off…

I went to the post office to drop off an Amazon return in Deansgate, Manchester. There was only one male staff member present, and no other customers were in the store. When I told him I wanted to drop off an Amazon return, he replied that no one was available to process returns that day and asked me to come back tomorrow. I left the store, but about five minutes later, I remembered that Amazon's website states that returns can be dropped off at the post office until 9:30 PM from Monday to Friday. So, I went back to the post office. By that time, there were many more customers, and I saw the staff working hard to serve them. When it was my turn, I repeated that Amazon's website says returns can be dropped off until 9:30 PM and asked if he could help me process it. This time, he replied that the system was under maintenance and couldn't process Amazon returns.I felt discriminated against because other customers had no issues picking up parcels or making returns, but I was denied the service I was entitled to. Finally, I told the staff member that I would report to Amazon that if the system was under maintenance, customers shouldn't be directed to that post office for returns. Only then did the staff member agree to process my return. I don't understand why I received different treatment from other customers or why he lied about the system being down and unable to process returns.

This morning

This morning, I went into draw money as I am travelling to abroad tomorrow. My card declined as £500 was asked to be drawn. The owner of the shop Mrs Rimmer was at the till and she did not suggest to try draw a smaller amount and made comment that I have withdrawn money in last 24 hours.. which I have not !! Later when I tried to use the cash machine in the store she asked me not to use it. I managed to withdraw money from a different cash machine for £250 on the same day from different cash machine. She was very rude and I fed that back to her. This is a small village shop and I used to go there often. This is the first time I have encountered such problem. I will not go to this shop anymore!!

TERRIBLE exchange rate!

Firstly and positively, a lovely lady served me!Sadly, I then parted with over £151.81 to receive the equivalent of £131.60, at todays exchange rate, in Turkish Lira ( that's 5600TRY exactly ). Obviously I am not a walking currency calculator, so I trusted that a local, non emergency exchange, at the Post Office was going to be cheaper than withdrawing in Turkey, or changing money at the airport. However, I have checked everywhere and there isn't a worse exchange rate I can find on the internet. Even Heathrow, and a few other airports exchange services are better.I feel quite strange and irritated that I "exchanged" £151.86 for £131.60. That's almost 15% commission. I'm not arguing it should be free, but had they said "Thank you. That's 5600 Turkish Lira in return, which is £131.50 in English money", I would have said I wasn't happy and declined to proceed. I had no idea the swap was so fruitful in the Post Offices favour.I am honestly quite annoyed because I believed I was being sensible, but I lost over £20 by swapping money for money. I didn't buy anything.Definitely a hard lesson learnt. Don't believe the "guidance" and just use your card or machines out there. You'll get far far far better than 15% commission! Madness and greed!

Bilsborrow Post Office

Bilsborrow Post OfficeComplaint. Set in a rural location it seems it costs 50 pence for a single photocopy page and while I understand today’s technology can make things easier for the elderly who are not computer literate it is discrimination! I went to this post office today to get a DWP claim form for an elderly resident on benefits and medical evidence photocopied and sent to DWP. It cost me £15.00 to copy 30 pages which I am sorry I think is absolutely taking the Micheal! Postage was free! On my complaint the staff seem to think this is justified and my comments were met with a so what attitude, this task also took about 20 minutes to complete, disgusting service. Will never use this post office again, they are an absolute rip off and gave the impression they do not care at all about local residents especially those in need within the community. So much for community spirit, a complete let down. Disgusted with service received and I hope I can claim these fees back for the person I was trying to help living within my community. Extremely dissatisfied customer. !!! You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Sub PO Staff Don't Know S.Ireland not in UK etc

I'm in UK mainland and went to my local sub post office to get a price post a parcel to Ireland . Staff said cost of parcel to Ireland same as UK mainland. That didn't sound right. I gave them the parcel to be weighed and postcode to be sent to , Quoted £10. Was only in to get a quote , so left with parcel.Went back a few days later and told it would be £23.95 for the same parcel / same postcode. Member of staff said it was dearer because it was Ireland . Reminded them I had previously told about £10. They just looked at me , no apology. So , I left with my parcel.Tried another sub Post Office . £43.95 Global Shipping. I said that I had been quoted £23.95 (International Shipping ?) at another sub Post Office. They said they didn't have that option on their system. So, went back to original sub post office with parcel.Latest quote at original Post Office ? Minimum £32.95. Not one of the 3 members of seemed to know that the Republic of Ireland is not in the UK , even though I explained difference between Ireland and N.Ireland. 2 of them don't seem able to understand how to properly weigh a parcel to give a accurate quote for posting. What a shambles ! Never again , I'll be using courier companies from now on.Be warned , especially if you are an ebay seller !

Dave is a really helpful gentleman. He clearly works really hard, caring about his Chemist, and customers. The chemist is open an incredible number of days and long hours, so when I work late I still have time to pass by and get prescriptions. It's a lasting impression thats left on you, he helps you without any expectations. Really, thank you.

Poor experience, these people are in the wrong jobs!

I visited the Post Office Warren Estate in Frimley to collect an Evri parcel. The chap behind the counter said ‘the Post Office is closed’! So I said ‘why can’t you do it’? and he just shrugged his shoulders. I looked at the shelf next to the chap where the Evri parcels were stacked, but it was clearly too much trouble for him! I was not sure why the Post Office had to be open as the rest of the grocery shop was. Tesco never has this problem.

1 Post Office with Specialist services for 61,635 people

I live in a small neglected town with a population of 61,635 as of the 2021 census, Runcorn in Cheshire. On the Post Offices own website as of 03/07/2024, Runcorn has five post offices which can assist with Passport and Driving licence renewals, which in my own opinion is poor for such a large population.A little about me as this information is relevant. I am 58 years disabled man who has mobility issues as well as a wife who suffers from dementia.Today I paid a visit to the Runcorn shopping city branch of the Post Office which the internet informed me, could deal with my driving licence renewal. On arriving at the office at around 4pm on the 03/07/2024, which was empty, I was informed that there is now only one Post Office in the whole of Runcorn that deals with Passport and Driving Licence renewals. This was the worst post office of all, situated in Runcorn High Street, within a convenience store, where there is very little parking and only two disabled parking spaces.I arrived at the High Street Post Office, in a lot of pain, distressed and very tired at 16:20, again there was no queue and with two ladies at each of the two counters. I was informed by a very abrupt clerk that they only did what I required between 09:30 and 15:30, at which she pointed to a sign, I informed here that this was not my local office and that I had not been there before to which there was no answer. Not only have the ever-moving Post Offices in Runcorn become very expensive but the services offered have been reduced to just one office to cater for a population of 61,000 for certain services, contrary to what the Post Office web site says.I have run around Runcorn wasting fuel, walked what is for me a long and painful distance and all for nothing. Instead of getting what I wanted in an office that had two members of staff with not a single other customer, I have been informed to return during the day when the store will be at its busiest, which to me seems absolutely ridiculous. Thank you Post Office, for absolutely nothing.

We will only speak to you through our website

I wanted a telephone number to speak to somebody. Contact us on their webpage does not fulfil any of my needs, it seems that the Post Office knows all their problems because those are the only things that you can ask about. The telephone number is unavailable through the website it basically means no one wants to talk to you. Doing a search for the local post office telephone number does give a telephone number.Ring it and this telephone number does not work it gives you 03457223344. This telephone number gives you one option, go back to the website. So I have collected frustration and no answers, thank you Post Office. (that was a sarcastic comment).

Altrincham Post Office/ WHSmith at 10:45 this morning. Only one of five manned. (Second was doing a hand over and, yes really, all the stamps in the book had to be counted!)Long queue. Had pre-ordered foreign currency which I thought would be ready to collect. Wrong! Advised there were only five €50 notes and the rest in €20’s. Won’t use again.

Late post usually 10 to 14 days out of date

Late post, inconsistent delivery and CEOs, CFOs and COOs who all need to be in gaol today after the programme from the Post Office enquiry which we all viewed yesterday. You cannot get anything worse from this shower if you tried. Ms Vennels and Mrs Van den Bogerd and Ms Alice Perkins should be the first put into prison for the remainder of their lives given what she, Angela did to so many, approximately 900 of their sub-postmasters and the lives they ruined. Thanks be to God, THEY ALL have been exonerated by the Parliament. Alan Bates, we support you and so many of your colleagues.BTW, in case you have not caught on, the banks, investment corporations and their CEOs, CFOs and COOs are doing the same thing across the globe in large corporations, the same treatment, they same regrets. Read my reviews about Ulster Bank,errrr...National Westminster. You can put Capital One Bank and Lloyds in there along with the rest for how we have been treated by these organisations. You cannot get a straight answer out of any of them, top to bottom, as their answers are vague, full of lies and condescending. If you don't know what Gaslighting is, or you have not seen the film, please do your due diligence and you will see the directors of every large corporation have no idea what is going on in their organisations or how their computer systems don't get the job done, and blame it on the staff, customers or their clients when the reality is lack of resources or dedicated staff. This is AI out of control and its only likely to get worse over the next 6 years. I feel badly for this generation of young people who have to live with this, all so they can have a phone to play games on...visual eye candy all of it!!!

This company are beyond inept

This company are beyond inept. The amount of times I go into the counter of my local branch and they ALWAYS get the postage wrong. For example, about 3 weeks ago, I took a small, slim parcel in, which weighed around 100g and was under the maximum dimensions for a large letter. I handed this over to the counter clerk, and he didn't have a clue what he was doing, despite working in there for a while, so had to go and ask a girl who was already busy serving someone. Even I know what the dims are for these parcels/letters etc, so why do their own employees not know!?He eventually came back, and was tapping away into his keyboard. He then turns around and says "that'll be £3.69" - I was like what? I said I didn't realise the cost of a large letter was that much? He was like oh, I've done it as a small parcel? I was like well, why, when it fits the dimensions of a large letter, and the weight allowances?!' He just turned around and said there was nothing I could do as he'd already printed the label, which had the reference number on, and he was in receipt of my parcel, basically implying he was going to charge me for his error, and definitely not bother to hand me the parcel back so I could use another supplier. If this was a one off, I really wouldn't be moaning, but this happens ALL of the time. I've even started writing on the parcel what it is so they don't get it wrong, but time and time again, they overcharge you. It may only be a quid or two, but over time (I post a lot of things with PO/RM) , these £ all add up to a large sum of money! I've emailed PO and put in a complaint about this instance, as an example, and surprise surprise, they do not even bother to reply to your complaints when you submit a form on their website. How is this even allowed? It's absolutely disgusting service!

Great Postman from GPO

With reference to my previous review I submitted it on behalf of future customers. The following day I talked to our regular postman who, is great! He was very concerned about the attitude of his colleague and confirmed that the information I had received from America was indeed correct. So it has now been posted, as it was a small light package. He deserves a PAY RISE!!

North Finchley post office. Only two staff, huge queue.

I went to the North Finchley post office at lunch time yesterday. There was a very long queue (almost to the front door) and only two people working in the post office. Clearly they remain understaffed and I feel sympathy for those working there as there is no respite. Please add more people to the branch!

Too little....too late.

My local Post Office went from being a small, stand alone, reliable business which was closed and then stuck inside a local corner shop. This shop has changed hands a few times since they took on the Post Office business and the most recent owners added extra shelving and their positioning which meant you could no longer do your Post Office business in private. Then we kept getting spells where the convenience store was open, but the Post Office within wasn't, it became totally unreliable.I complained to the Post Office and was given short shrift. When I made a second complaint, which was pretty much identical to the first (unreliable service/lack of privacy/the fire risk) but with the added fact that I'd be complaining to HSBC who have closed all the local branches and encourage their customers to do their banking in their local Post Office, I got a reply from the Post Office that admitted I had just reason for each complaint and offered me £20 in compensation.Their compensation email linked to a survey where I told the Post Office that they could keep their £20 because they'd ignored my first complaint and it seems that either the mention of HSBC or "making a nuisance of myself" triggered the offer.

Worse Post Office I Know

Post office in Brean Sands. Had to pick up 2 parcels there are no opening times stated for the Post Office but every time I have visited it was closed. Was told to come back in half hour. I said every other shop I pick parcels up from is just dealt with in store could she not scan and hand the parcel over as she wasn't doing anything. No, so I had to wait for the women to flounce back from her break for her to scan 2 parcels the other person could have done 10 mins previous and she could have had her full break. There was a queue building for the post office so surely they should train up someone to take over from her. I would much prefer to pick up from another shop farther afield rather than to deal with this place again.
