Worst ever job

Personal experience of having worked here..... Post offices were pushed from the highstreet into convenience stores. Whereas there were some limited advantages in this approach such as opening hours increasing, the retail providers simply didn't have the resources, security or expertise to make this practical. The pressure on staff was unreal. Queues of 30 plus people, multiple users for one log in, faulty equipment (from the comical to the serious. Label printer to Horizon), £50k sitting by the feet of minimum wage employees, having only a basic level of training and having to have a boss on the phone talking you though a money order or such like. All in all a truly awful experience. The post office wanted to make the transition to convenience stores for their own pocket and were happy to give away the hassle and risk of running a post office to retail staff. When problems arose there was no support. And i think the public (perhaps correctly) expected a certain level of service and weren't sympathetic when it simply couldn't be delivered. I worked 16 hours a day and it still wasn't good enough. Until you have worked a post office counter you simply don't appreciate the level of stupid that exists in this country.

Terrible Claims Service

I made a Claim (Jan 2023) on my Post Office Travel Insurance. After one year I am still receiving multiple angry "Notices" from the US hospital that it has not been paid. It appears they insure via 'Collinson' then onto 'Astrenska' then 'International'. The later saying I was not insured when I actually was. I have had a stream of questions back i.e. "Pay your excess" when I had last February - all of which are on their files. I have tried to Complain & Escalate and all I get is excuses & delays. Still waiting and getting angry Notices. I would never Insure with them again.

Incredible service

Absolutely amazing service. There are so many companies and organisations that fall so short of providing a decent let alone excellent service. A week ago Monday just gone, round about lunch time, we took our passports to our local post office, (Nantwich) to be renewed. They took our photos to the required passport office criteria, filled out the application form, and submitted both of our applications. By the time we were back home we had an email from the passport office saying they had received our application. All of this for a charge of £16. If you were to go to a Photo Booth it would probably cost somewhere between £6-£10. We would have sent the application to the passport office by signed for next day, another £4. So getting the post office to everything was a complete bargain. We heard from the post office last evening that they had our new passports and that they would be delivered today, just over a week, including a weekend. Brilliant and thank you to the lady who did our application in Nantwich Post Office.

Can't collect without a barcode...

I went to collect a parcel and was told I cannot do so because I do not have a barcode to scan, which should have been sent to me by DPD. I informed them this is a collection that was rerouted to you via DPD from a home address, so I wasn't sure if I should have received one, but that I have the tracking information.Apparently the tracking information isn't sufficient and I need to call DPD. I double check there is no other way to collect; again, none. Three staff members are listening and I am the only person in the store.I call DPD, as I still have 15 minutes until store closure, but the DPD wait time is approximately 5 minutes on their contact page. I manage to get through to a helpful staff member who informs me the post office is incorrect; I can collect with my passport and one other form of identification. I have one form on me, but not a second, but I tell DPD that the staff at the post office said there was no other way to collect without a barcode to scan.By the time the store is ready to close, the staff member confirms, when I mention this, that I could collect the parcel if I have two forms of identification. The way the staff member delivered this line with a vexatious smile was incredibly unprofessional and warrants conflict resolution training. If the post office had properly informed me of alternative pickup methods rather than leaving me confused and perplexed as to why the conversation wasn't leading to any suitable advice, I would have been able to source the second form of identification prior to store closure, as I live in the immediate area. Instead, I was left to fumble through the DPD contact process on her suggestion for no good reason whatsoever.I have raised these issues with DPD, who have informed me they will be discussing the issue with the pickup shop's head office, and I will be raising them with the Post Office directly. In short, make sure you know Post Office procedure yourself, because one Post Office's entire team seemed oblivious.

48 hour service took 10 days then they lost my parcel

Asked for my package to be delivered to invergordon sorting office. When it finally arrived late I attempted to collect only to be told it was out for delivery. Never arrives. Next time I was told it was delivered to the post office for collection. No one really knew where it was and they didn't seem to care. I tried to use online complaints form and although all my details were correct this doesn't seem to work either. I will be avoiding using there service in the future

Incompetence at it's best

I received a card telling me I had to pay £3.50 to get a package. I wasn't expecting anything so I was suspicious and rang them up. After a 40 minute wait!!! the receptionist said there was no information about the sender. If that's the case how do they know where to return it as I said I'm not prepared to pay for a package I'm not expecting. Just as importantly, how do they accept a package that hasn't been paid for? Total incompetence!! No wonder they're going downhill fast.

Just had the worst experience as a potential client with Post Office Pet Insurance, which is linked to the Pinnacle pet insurance group. Called up and spoke to one of their sales consultant called Benny. He was so rude to me I will never do any business with the Post Office or Pinnacle group in the future.

I tried to send a recorded/signed for…

I tried to send a recorded/signed for letter to Virgin Media (see my ongoing complaint). Having asked for a receipt for the £2.25 service of sending a letter and being sure it had arrived, I received no receipt, and pressed the matter. I was unable to obtain a receipt for the service purchased, though I asked for it for a number of minutes. In the end I did not want to hold the queue up, and left with only a 'proof of purchase', stating "This is not a receipt". Is the Post Office dodging tax? Today, two days later, I received the letter back through my door, instead of it being sent to the recipient. I had marked the back of the envelope with "Return Address Only". This is the fourth time in two years that I've had recorded/signed for post returned to me for no reason other than that the Post Office/Royal Mail and staff seem unable to tell the front from the back of the envelope. Even if they can't read well, you'd think the average postie would know that the stamps and address go on the front, and the flap and return address go on the back. I've had post that was sent to Royal Mail returned to my house too. Perhaps, unwittingly, I live in the returns office, or in the Royal Mail complaints department? All manner of spam and unsolicited post arrives though, despite my request for junk mail to be stopped.

EVIL MONSTERS!!!

Following the Mr Bates programme, I have been wanting to write a review but have been too angry to put my feelings into words. I'm still at that stage now really. I'm currently watching a Panorama programme (BBCiPlayer) from 25th April 2022, and the true horrors make the Mr Bates drama look like a tea party in comparison. The post office knew in 2010 that the system was likely to be to blame, but the post office bosses refused to investigate it as it would make all past and future convictions unsound. So they just ploughed on prosecuting people, in the full knowledge that the system was likely to be at fault. There needs to be mass prison sentences for post office and Fujitsu staff, pensions stripped and fines running into the many hundreds of thousands of pounds placed on these evil monsters. At least we're finding out who they are now, thanks to the inquiry.

Ashamed of our post office

Ashamed of our post office. Royal mail! The Queen would be ashamed to have her face on your stamps. I will go out of my way to use every and any delivery company other than yours after the way you have treated honest, hard working people. It's the people at the top that have hidden this and allowed the thiis disgraceful treatment of sub post office masters. Put them in jail, they are the criminals! Their treatment brings me to tears.

A non-emplyee delivered my mail.

I told them that they had taken my recorded delivery package to the wrong/different address, and they said they would look into it but told me that although their number dyslexic employee had made an error they refused to accept liability & told me to get a refund from the person who sent me it (that had done no wrong) Luckily an honest homeowner brought it to me 9 days later whilst walking their dog. How can you trust an organisation that is set up like this? Mr Bates?

I raised a complaint on 27th November…

I raised a complaint on 27th November as a parcel had gone missing due to a mistake on the post office part and as a result I had to refund the buyer. The post office agreed to send me a £20 voucher to my email which was never received, I have tried to contact numerous people to get this resolved but no one replies, the phone number is fake, you can't speak to a person via that phone number as whichever option you select it send you to an automated message.Just post directly via the Royal mail app as it's cheaper and they are much better service.

Yet again...Royal Mail

Yet again, the Royal Mail have failed to collect a parcel at the arranged time.I had arranged for the parcel to be collected from my porch, so that whether I was in or not it could be collected. Left the parcel in the porch at 10am. I was in the kitchen and can always hear the usual insistant loud knocking when couriers want to not be kept waiting. Nothing. Have just found an email claiming the post office couldn't collect because I was not in! Parcel still sat in the porch still waiting to be collected as arranged....Usually on those rare occasions when a parcel is actually collected at the correct time, I receive a weeks worth of mail, because we only get mail deliveries or twice a week here, you get letters dated up the a week before they arrive....but today no mail. I don't think anyone came to the house at all, and this email was just an cover up.

Home insurance via post office…

Home insurance via post office they managed to lock me out of my account, I managed to get it up and running states my renewal starts 22 July on quote, yet my renewal date wasn’t until the 8th of August he then said I’d get an email about renewal date so I’d need to wait until the 7th July, 28 day thing. But couldn’t cancel until I’d received it. Talk about useless.

Not to be trusted folks

I am really annoyed with our Post Office here in Hexham. I'm a bit under the weather so my hubby offered to take a small package down to the post office today. I had written the service I wanted which was first class recorded delivery. I also included its low value and what was inside as I know these are all the questions they ask, from past experience. All that was required was that there was a signature at the receiving end, so I knew they had received it. The last thing I said to the hubby was, be careful as they will try and sell you something totally different which would be more expensive and, something I didn't need. I knew that from past experience also. He came home with the receipt and guess what, they sold and charged him for 'SPECIAL DELIVERY' I asked him did you tell her that you wanted plain and simple 'RECORDED DELIVERY ' he said yes, of course however, after their card machine (which was playing up at the time) failed to take the payment 4 times and eventually took the payment of £7.35 he realised what she had done. My question is are they able to totally disregard your wishes, sell you something you DONT NEED OR WANT in a bid to bolster their takings for the day.

Totally dishonest

Totally dishonest. I received a destroyed theatre vouchers from my niece in December. The Royal Mail admitted to their mistake and I have photos evidence. They passed me on to a number of departments. The last department offered me £10 worth of 1st class stamps which I refused and returned yesterday. My family and I have been using the Royal Mail for years and we have never had any problems.I am hugely disappointed and I will continue to press my case until I get a fair resolution.

I eagerly awaited a package of 11 items from Temu !most of the items were Xmas presents! The post office delivered the package on time but the parcel was left open in my bin cupboard!I have ring camera proof that the parcel was open when delivered even though the text message I rec'd never mentioned any damage to the parcel. 8 of the 11 items were missing! When I contacted P.O. customer services they advised me to seek compensation from Temu!

Horribly rude

I went to the Wanstead post office during the half term holidays in October 2023, and the manager categorically REFUSED to take photographs of my child for passport renewal. No reasons were provided, he was just extremely rude and unpleasant. I begged him to take the photograph, but he did not want to. He said 'I do not want to help you'. Also the lady working there was rude and unfriendly. Actually, I was meant to write a review on Google when this happened, but I forgot. That's why I am doing it now.I then used the service for passport renewal at the South Woodford new post office. The staff was friendly and helpful. They took the photograph of my child with no issues. :-)

AN APPALLING POST OFFICE.

Non post office customers are served before those who need post office services and there is a sign saying so! This causes long waits even for something straightforward such as buying a stamp for a letter.

* Warning*

Be extremely careful if, in spite of warnings, you choose to save with the Post Office. They do not take the money from your account for about 2 weeks & even THEN hold on to it for several days before showing it IN your account. They then show this delayed date as the "start date" for Savings!! This is scandalous in today's climate where you need to SEE that your money has gone in to your savings account - ALL other banks show immediately. They will NOT provide an email & you will hang for ages on the phone and still have no written record of what you are told (I was advised that the transfer date would be the start date!!). They are holding on to tens/ hundreds of millions of our money that should be earning interest !! The ombudsman will be advised accordingly. Another PO disaster !!

Today I went into my local branch at…

Today I went into my local branch at Dereham to be greeted by the most obnoxious ‘manager’. I was collecting a parcel on behalf of my partner and had ID for him and myself. The ID I had for my partner who lives at the same address, was in photo form which they have accepted before.Today I was turned away as I didn’t have the actual drivers license. Whatever has happened to common sense?Firstly: I don’t like inconsistencies, so if you’ve served me before this way ~ don’t change the rules.Secondly: if we live together and I have multiple documents/ID to prove, then it’s likely I’m legitimate. How the hell would I know some random person has a parcel at the post office and obtain a photo of their ID???? If I was committing theft, I could have stolen the actual license. An actual physical ID doesn’t prove anything. Going forward, I will arrange all of my parcels to be delivered to OTHER stores whereby their staff are friendlier and accommodating. Dereham News for one. I will avoid using the post office.I watched the recent itv drama based on the real life events ~ and it was awful to see innocent people accused and charged of offences they didn’t commit.Shame on you post office. Scandalous.

Requesting a receipt at a Post Office

When going to the Post Office to send a letter I expect to be asked what class of stamp I would like and also a receipt for payment, without having to ask for the latter as it should be a matter of course. These essentials seem to not apply at the branch on Perth Road in Dundee. The chap proceeded to just stick on a stamp and not give me a receipt. I had to ask for a receipt and he had the nerve to say he assumed I didn't want one because I was paying cash but I know why I didn't get one, it's because he didn't put it through the cash register. How many thousands of these kinds of dodging go on? Perhaps something to do with tax.

One star is too heigh to rate them! I will be avoiding a service that is corrupt and happy to damage hard working peoples lives. While innocent people are still suffering the people responsible still cannot apologise…..? Why government haven’t served justice yet shows the scale of corruption. You’d think one one the royal family would assist in helping wrongly accused people since it is the Royal Mail, I’d be ashamed to have my picture on a stamp with the level of corruption.

Convicting people with no evidence

Convicting people with no evidence. Even the police and the courts have to allow a solicitor for the defendent. The post office were judge, jury and executioner all in one. If I could buy my stamps some where else. 15+ years to wait for justice. They would have got less time of they'd gone to prison. FYI, the DWP were going to put the Horizon system in for claimants in 1996 and they scapped it after 4 years before the post office went live with it. Surely there were alarm bells there. And even HMRC uses it apparently!
