GoogleMoved from Southampton to Cardiff and it has been seamless with the help of Rhys and the team at Peter Alan. Anything I needed at anytime of the day Rhys has helped me with and I am very grateful.
Reported a small issue with property and within minutes someone had been instructed to come to fix it. Really pleased with service at Peter Alan and their head office/maintenance.

TrustpilotPlease read and avoid this agency
I’m honestly disappointed with the service provided by Peter Alan. They have consistently lied to both landlords and tenants, creating a web of deceit that has caused significant financial hardship. They recommend unaffordable rent prices to landlords, pushing tenants into dire financial situations.Peter Alan no longer advocate for long-term tenancies, preferring instead to increase rents annually. This approach is purely profit-driven and disregards the well-being of tenants. In our case, they falsely claimed that our landlord was struggling to pay their mortgage, when in fact, the property was bought outright. This was a blatant attempt to justify an unnecessary rent increase. The agency is exploiting the high demand for rental properties, contributing to the growing issue of homelessness. They show no regard for the welfare of either tenants or landlords, focusing solely on their commission. They are causing misery in people’s lives.

TrustpilotCannot rate Peter Alan enough from…
Cannot rate Peter Alan enough from start to finish they have been an excellent estate agency. Arranging visits to view properties were done quickly and arranged around a convenient time for us. Communication was made via email and over the phone which made contacting the estate agents easy with any queries answered within a few hours. All staff were extremely helpful, however Jess was our main point of call who was informative and very helpful. We chose to go with Peter Alan’s solicitors which were Howell’s solicitors which I believe was the best move as it enabled the process to move quickly and smoothly. Within less than 4 weeks of us putting in an offer, all paperwork is complete and we shall be receiving the keys in the next 2 weeks. We cannot believe within the space of 6 weeks we will have become home owners!

TrustpilotThe Tenancy has gone through as…
The Tenancy has gone through as expected. The original market rate based on their analytics was significantly below the rental achieved - which was closer to the local properties. Peter Alan also switched the utility supplier without my knowledge which is now causing a heap of issues. Readings at the date of cutover are to be supplied - not sure what were given by Peter Alan as it was three weeks prior to the tenant moving in.British Gas seems to think I supplied the request to change over - I did not. It's an erroneous transfer which I am now taking up with British Gas, and OFGEM if required. I will also complain to Peter Alan about this practice which I think is unethical and if not happy I will contact the property Ombudsman.

TrustpilotA group of legal thieves
A group of legal thieves! I wouldn't employ the sales team to tie my shoelaces never mind sell my house!I know estate agents have a reputation for charging lots for very little, but this lot take the biscuit! Hindsight is wonderful, but if you are selling a house beware of the contract they offer you. I was stupidly duped into a fixed price sales contract, which worked out at just short of 4% of my house value! Being my first time selling a house I wish I had read up more beforehand! I was also sold a sole seller contract, which meant I'd have to pay the full fixed fee if I was to sell the house with a different estate agent WITHIN 6 MONTHS!They did however, get an offer within a few days of the house being on the market, for the full asking price. "Too good to be true?!" I hear you ask. Well, one dodgy damp survey and a dodgy quote later the magical buyers are requesting 10k be knocked off the agreed price of 70k. Now, having learned a bit of a lesson about jumping in two-footed from the initial contract, I took my time with this one. The "sales negotiator" (a term a use lightly, because I witness absolutely ZERO negotiating), advised me to get a second opinion (something she later denied). So I forked out for an independent survey, showing the surveyor the dodgy report. Lo and behold, the report and quote to repair comes back at a fraction of the price. Now, the "negotiator" wouldn't accept my second survey, and insisted I should drop my price, something I could not do, partly die to the extortionate fixed selling fee.Safe to say, the sale fell through due to the buyers not budging on their 10k request, and not a single ounce of "negotiation" in site. After this, I decided to stay put and take my house off the market. Then came the money grabbing.I recieved a letter asking to pay for an EPC certificate that they obtained as part of the sale (because I pulled the house off the market I was expected to recover their costs). This letter also delightfully reminded me that if I didn't pay within a certain timescale, they reserved the right to add interest onto the requested 90 something pounds. 2 months after I've paid, I'm still yet to recieve the EPC or any other correspondence. On the bright side, I didn't have to part with the best part of £3k for some woeful service.Stay away from Peter Alan at all costs!

TrustpilotRental
I am writing this review to express on how satisfied we are in choosing Peter Alan for renting. There were a number of different letting agents available choose from, and through their network of branches and a trusted brand we went into a local branch. We initially made enquires for rental, then decided to go ahead with a property, and with the assistance and patience from Nadine the service was outstanding and this put a lot of trust in using Peter Alan. This is our first time renting privately and would definitely use and recommend their services. We are very happy in our new home, it has taken a few weeks to get ourselves moved in fully and enjoy our new home and area that we now live in.Thank you very much for your help, support, speed and ease!

TrustpilotPeter Alan:All shades of terrible service
Peter Alan was a terrible experience. The agent outrightly told a lie about cash back and thereafter, could not be reached on phone neither would he reply mails. Am not surprised at their rating on Trust pilot. They are such a terrible agency to have transactions with.

My daughters earns 40k a year better benefits than NHS workers No debt , CCJ’s , clean as a whistle 1st appointment to discuss affordability etc - 1 1/2 hours 2nd appointment 1 1/2 hours ( I feel this should be optional ) looking at the budget/outgoings such as council tax , petrol , food , etc Next , trying to sell us critical illness , life insurance , buildings insurance 3rd and final appointment 1/2 hour, sign the mortgage deal and mentioning all the policies above on numerous occasions. This 2nd appointment procedure may be amazing for some customers , but I feel it should be an independent choice

TrustpilotTenants Beware!!
I’ve rented through Peter Alan (formerly Roberts & Co) for nearly six years, and the service has been absolutely appalling throughout. In 30 years of living in rented accommodation, I have never dealt with such an unprofessional, incompetent, and disorganised organisation. In my time renting through Peter Alan, I was a dream tenant - a professional, full time employed by the same company for over twenty years, I never missed a single rent payment, and very rarely contacted them for maintenance issues, preferring to tackle minor issues myself. I passed all regular inspections with flying colours, because I treated the property like it was my own.To be nearer my partner, I made the decision to move from the property earlier this year, and this is where Peter Alan showed themselves to be a woefully inept organisation. Having served the required one month’s notice, they advised me that I had to actually give closer to two months’ notice to align with my tenancy agreement. I told them that this was nonsense, but they persisted with this line, even sending me letters dictating when my end date would be. I asked them to show me in my tenancy agreement where this clause was as I could not see it.It was then that I received a very sheepish reply from them to say that they couldn’t find the clause either, and therefore my original notice period of one month was valid. They then arranged an inspection of the property. I had given myself a two week overlap to ensure that I had enough time to thoroughly clean the property, and spent many hours doing this. The property was absolutely spotless, albeit with some minor wear and tear expected after a six month tenancy in which no maintenance or decorating had taken place. They sent in an independent contractor to complete the inspection, and I accompanied the gentleman as he went about his work. He commented throughout on how clean the place was, and I asked him specifically whether he could see anything that would likely lead to deductions from my bond. He replied that the place looked “Spotless” and that he felt I would receive my deposit back in full.It was with some surprise then that I received a check out report from Peter Alan detailing a number of defects that they felt would warrant deductions from my deposit. These included a hair on the toilet (seriously!) and some streaks on the shower door glass - things that would take ten seconds to correct with a wet wipe. They then advised me that a deduction of £95 would be made for these defects!! I asked for the balance of my deposit back, and there then followed a protracted email conversation in which they tried to bully me into accepting the £95 deduction, citing my request for the balance of my deposit as agreement to the deduction. The tone of these email conversations were absolutely deplorable, they have nothing but contempt for the tenants on their books, and are only interested in grabbing as much money off them as possible. I fought this deduction all the way, eventually having to refer the matter to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme Adjudicator.I’d also say “Beware” if you’re a landlord looking to place your property in the hands of these incompetent fools. Throughout my tenancy I was seeking to obtain a spare key. As the key I held was a secure key and could not be duplicated, I needed the landlord’s assistance to do this. Peter Alan couldn’t organise this, in nearly six years I went around in circles. When I had served notice and they wanted access to the property to facilitate viewings, it then transpired that they “Misplaced” a number of spare keys provided by the landlord. So to sum up, if I were a tenant, I would avoid Peter Alan, and particular the Newport Branch like the plague. Save yourself the frustration of dealing with staff who frankly would struggle to run a lemonade stand (they would probably misplace the lemons) and find another agent. The staff I dealt with (you know who you are) should be eternally amazed that they are able to earn a wage while performing at such an appallingly low level, and I strongly suggest that senior management put these staff through some extensive training as soon as possible, they are seriously damaging your business. As a Senior Manager in a service organisation myself, these staff would have had their P45 in very short order, as Customer Services is clearly not right for them.

TrustpilotI am a landlord
I am a landlord. I recently visited the Gorseinon branch of Peter Alan estate agents and requested that they help me find a tenant for my property. I was helped by Brian and Natasha of their Letting team. I have to say that their service was excellent, not only did they find a tenant within a few days conducting viewings on a weekend; they even met with me out of hours on their way home to pick up spare keys for the property. They are professional and very friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them!

GoogleWe bought a house with the Roath branch. The staff have been friendly and so helpful. They were great at chasing up our solicitor to progress the buying process and great at maintaining communication between ourselves and our seller. The house we have bought was empty and in need of renovation and the Peter Alan team, in particular Kane, have accommodated every request to access the property so we could get electrician, plumber and builder quotes. On one occasion, when we visited the house for the electrician quote we noticed a gas smell. Kane immediately contacted Peter Alan’s estate team who resolved the issue within the hour. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.

GoogleTerrible agency. They cancelled several viewings - one at the last minute, when we had already travelled by train to the property - and didn't bother to reschedule; we had to call them again and do all the work. There was a property in particular that we were very interested in viewing, but they rescheduled/cancelled twice and, the day before we were supposed to finally see it, texted us to say it was now taken. They didn't even bother to call. We think they were saving the house for a previous viewer who had showed interest, but they made excuses and didn't tell us the truth. Won't go for any of their properties again.

GoogleWe contacted Peter Alan for the property we have now moved in to, but I would avoid them in future. We dealt with Sarah Jenkins, who frankly, has no business in a customer facing role. We viewed the house, paid the fees (approx £350) and gave notice on our other property. When we moved into the new property. Our new landlord kindly informed us that Sarah had told them that we were unreliable (even though not a single months rent payment had been late in 7 years), we were liars, and that we hadn't paid any fees, in an attempt to turn the landlord off us, likely to gain more in fees from another party. She did all this knowing we had already given notice on our previous property AND have 8 and 10 year old daughters to put a roof over.
Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed to learn this on the day we moved into our new home. This kind of practice should not happen from someone who is meant to be representing one of the largest, and well known estate agents in Wales. On top of This, her manner on the phone is unprofessional, rude, and she constantly talks over you. She even shouted at my partner down the phone.
We will be taking this further with the powers that be. This kind of behaviour has tarnished our image of the company, and looking at other reviews, we're not the first to experience this kind of treatment.

Gavin, the well known TV star, offered a very useful insight on the best way to achieve a good asking price and special mention for Dawn Powell is a lady determined to look after her clients interest and her tact and determination should be legendary. If you want to get a good and realistic price for your property contact these guys. Many thanks for all of your help.
