Dragging out returning deposit

I checked out of a Haslams property on 30/11/24 and I’m still unable to get my deposit back. There was a short delay when I had to recall the cleaners and move 2 pieces of furniture. However, this was all sorted by 11/12/24. In January, after having no correspondence from Haslams, I raised a TDS dispute to get my deposit back. They have even re-let the property and are still dragging on giving me my deposit back even after I have agreed the amount to be returned. I simply cannot believe this letting agent is supposedly one of the best in Reading. Such awful service! They really do deserve an absolute 0 rating.

Never had a worse experience with any company. I was an excellent tenant for more than a year even staying after the rent was ncreased and as soon as I move out they completely forgot about me. It felt like my property manager literally wanted to steal me money. She completely ignored my emails and when I called she said she forgot about me. So it took more than a month to take my deposit back, and she made unreasonable detuctions. Also, she left on vacation without sending my deposit back without caring about the fact that I had to found another place and start work elsewhere. The best part was that she never mentioned £200 credit that I had and of course she wouldn't have sent that back to me. I would like to thank Shannon however that was really nice and sorted everything in one day! Stay away from this agency only causes issues, especially between landlord and tenant. There was a huge miscommunication between me and the landlord because haslams took so long to reply!

I was looking for a new home to stay in and decided to deal with Haslams. Compared to other agencies in Reading they truly are the best in so many aspects. For an agency to succeed they need strong communication and every time I gave Haslams a call they always picked up quickly. Amy Bentley was in charge of handling one of the apartments and I’ve actually dealt with her last year for another apartment. She is very professional and works quick, which is any managers dream. At the end, she helped me and my flatmate secure an apartment on this crazy market this year, which I’m sure makes her job a lot harder but she handled it very well. 👍🏻

Moving to a new country can be really overwhelming. House hunting in a new country can be a very daunting task, especially, when you are new to the country. Michael from Haslams made it really easy for us to rent a house in Reading at the time. My Flatmate and I had trouble finding an apartment throughout the summer however we decided to visit Haslams. Michael Danelian was an excellent agent who not only helped us find an apartment but who ensured our experience at Haslams was excellent. Other agents and agencies were hard to deal with in regards to communication and other aspects however he constantly ensured to return our calls and make sure the process of moving in went as smoothly as possible. He helped us with all the issues we encountered and I couldn’t recommend another agent more.

Knowing how difficult property management at a large agency can be, we would be delighted to recommend, and say thanks to Sharon Tubbs at Haslams. Always there on the phone or email, quick, efficient responses and despite her workload, we felt that any issues were dealt with in a very personable way. We were sadly served notice, but Sharon helped us through the whole process and supported us after being let down by a cleaner. I have never had any experience like what Haslams Estates provides for tenants (renting for 10+ years)--They are somewhat of trend-setters in this area. As my tenancy agreement reached the end of the contract for this year, I was contacted with plenty of time in advance for options of renewal. While direct to know my intentions, Nicola Grant made feel like agreeing to another term was in mutual benefit to everyone, which it is, but rarely is it acknowledged or put so kindly into words. That is why I feel like with Haslams Estates, you're as much as a client as Landlords are, and their agents are always one step in front to make sure all parties are well informed and in control, and genuinely stress-free.

I've had the pleasure of meeting with Ms. Laura Kirby for a viewing this afternoon. She has such a wonderful and joyous aura, and you can genuinely tell she adores her job. Not only was she empathetic to my struggles of not finding a place to settle down in, she was so incredibly knowledgeable and interactive. She has a wide variety of knowledge regarding different cultures' traditions and needs, as well as impeccable knowledge of the sites and buildings she's showing. Often estate agents and sales negotiators feel robotic and monotonous but not Ms. Kirby; her enthusiasm is infectious and willingness to learn about you in such a short period of time is truly heartwarming. I left the property very hopeful, which I promised myself I wouldn't do given the myriad of ways I've been disappointed, but that's just how delighted she makes you feel. It's safe to say that Ms. Laura Kirby is one to remember fondly.

Haslams has been my go to estate agency for the past 3 years now, where I was (still am) a tenant at two different developments in Reading. I have been in constant contact with Amy Bently for anything related to renting a flat, and maintenance. She has always been professional with accommodating me as a student, giving that some developments do not accept students as tenants. Amy is also very professional with time, and replies fast.
